bsn.boards.net/post/1282619/threadThe video looked kind of...wonky, for me. Has anyone tried it? DAO is - without exaggeration - my favourite game of all time. I loved it, but even while I didn't necessarily agree with people at the time about how "bland" and "old" the visuals were, I have to admit, some of it has not aged well visually. I'm currently still neck deep in Assassin's Creed Odyssey, but I'm tempted to load this up when I'm done and see how (or if) ray tracing improves the look and ambience of the game world.

Well, if the raytracing would do something else than just first bounce for global illumination, then it would be ... maybe better, but as it stands now its nothing else than badly coloring lipstick on a old game What I mean it seems the system doesnt see games own lights and by that it cannot affect shadowing etc.

It was probably too much to hope for, I guess.

I think the game has aged well. The visuals are still pretty good. If you wanna talk games that have aged badly then look no further than the original NWN, or vanilla Morrowind with no visual enhancements. Those games have aged badly.

As far as I can tell you need an OLCF-4 Summit Supercomputer running at 200 petaflops to even just get into the start menu of a game with ray tracing, and even then you'll get little more that 20 FPS with all graphics details set to low.
If I even mentioned ray tracing to my old potato it would likely mash itself.
