Very good video, I enjoyed watching the developers talk about their games.

I actually want more round tables like this. The discussion here was pretty standard stuff but for a less informed public it works. Imagine what they can do with this when discussing something meatier. They'll never discuss something 'meatier. This is PR pure and simple. Stick to the script and make the bosses look good. I have a feeling this is less scripted than you think. They likely have a bunch of topics that were planned ahead of time but the responses were likely more organic and off the cuff. At least in the past this is what roundtable like this tend to do. Been involved in a few regarding civics and election discussions for group lectures for example.

10k views ... nice work.
When I started playing FFXIV a few months ago there was something incredibly weird going on, and then I figured it out. Bioware and Blizzard like to have conversations with each other, Yoshi-P takes the time to have conversations with gamers. And that's the big difference. Blizzard and Bioware rely on data and "feedback" to discern what players want, Yoshi-P has conversations.
Bioware can ignore gamers as much as they want, what will happen is that gamers will just ignore them in turn.
As for the content, it was hilariously light for a conversation amongst devs. Which means the devs were talking among themselves not to actually talk amongst themselves but to talk to gamers by talking amongst themselves. One would think it would be easier to just ...

They still feel so detached from the players. This really just comes across to me as hey guys, lay off us, you don't understand all we go through to make these games.

Game developers have recently developed (heh) this unreal sense of entitlement that I have zero interest in acknowledging. As though they should be free from criticism when developing their games. Wrong. They should be free from abuse sure, but criticism? Never. Free from harsh criticism? Never. Free from mockery? Never. If that reality impacts certain devs mental state, then maybe game devving isn't for them *shrugs*

If that reality impacts certain devs mental state, then maybe game devving isn't for them *shrugs* "Oh, the majority of gamers just don't understand" I hope you enjoyed your hibernation because the year is now 2019, welcome to the modern consumer world fuckers where consumers don't understand the products they're complaining about. Take a car to the mechanic, do consumers understand the process, how long it takes, why some problems can't be fixed? Everybody fucking person and their dog complains about politics and hurls abuse at politicians and NOBODY understands the slightest part of what that entails. Do consumers understand the labour intensive process involved in growing the fucking vegetables we eat every day? No. Do we bitch about it? Sometimes. Do we care farmers are committing suicide from the stress? Apparently not. Why don't all mp4s play on all tvs? They played on my old tv, but my new tv only plays half of them. IT'S FAULTY! GAHHH! At the end of the day the consumer will judge the product they have in their hands, and if they want to complain about it while ignorant then they will complain about it while ignorant. And any developers who don't like this can always leave the industry, I give zero fucks.

"I was sent anonymous death threats over the internet because I'm publicly tied to this company and product and it was shitty"
Wow, that's horrible says the customer service representative who got physically stood over, shouted at, and threatened so badly by a very real mob of over 20 people they spent the next few hours shaking, crying and puking in the toilet.
There's one thing that developers and gamers seem to have in common, and that's a certain disconnect from reality. Welcome to the world, it and the internet is often a shitty place. No you won't change that. Deal with it.

With the trend of population of EA games it's rather "EA unpugged" I think.

It's the "God damn lazy devs" vs "entitled gamers!" 100% true I dunno. I never once blamed the devs for Anthem's... situation. Thay're just hardworking people. But if their hard work is mismanaged to be useless, well, that's not on them. And I'm pretty sure most of the even ever so slightly educated people feel about anthem the same way.

It's the "God damn lazy devs" vs "entitled gamers!" Well, this is how Western world is supposed to work. You see, the players have the money and developers are trying to cheat them. If you make crap, cover it up with a nice wrap and try to advertise it as the best ever brownies know to mankind and moreover, ask people to order your product in advance at triple price, there is a possibility that some people open their wraps, find crap underneath and start loudly complaining. Which is very reasonable. I know, in other parts of the world the situation is not that clear cut and even worse things have happened and will happen there. So, perception can be different. Which is again, very reasonable.

Which is again, very reasonable. I’m fairly certain that there’s a distinction between “trying to sell you a product” and “trying to cheat you”. If not, well, that sounds rather paranoid. That isn’t to say they won’t try to put the best face on it and downplay the product’s shortcomings, but that isn’t the same as selling snake oil.
