Yes, he's a total fanboy and a gamer. And defending passionate fans was a really nice move. Bioware could learn a thing or two from his attitude!

Some of the casting I'll never get used to. The visual effects and cinematography look solid. Apparently Yen is a legendary swordsman as well..

Looking really good now I have to say! If only I could disconnect my brain from the games and not be bothered by the actors not looking and sounding like their W3 counterparts... I have this annoying aversion to characters looking different from their first incarnation because the first one will always be the "correct" one in my head. Ugh. I dislike all Batman movies after the Burton ones. I actually don't like how Triss looks in W3 because she looked better in W2. I didn't even like the commander in Babylon 5 getting replaced after the first season. And that was even a DIFFERENT character. But still I prefer the first one. UGH.
I'll TRY to be open-minded about the Netflix adaptation and enjoy it... If the writing and acting is really good, maaaybe I can block out that the actors look "wrong"...
My brain works the same way! Yennefer and Ciri in particular are bothering me. And Geralt's new accent. I'm probably still going to binge the show the first day, though.

I hope Henry's performance matches his knowledge of the IP. It's pretty impressive. He's at an advantage being a fan of both the games and the books.

lol....the sword on his back (in the still shot) is set to be pulled by a lefty not a righty. Actually I disagree looking at the thumbnail (grip is angled to the left). Would be easier as a right handed that way. Right hand reaches left shoulder from the front of your body, not the back. But it doesn't matter because sword on back is stupid AF anyways, realistically speaking.

I'm not sure I like basing Geralt's voice on American VO from games. He wasn't bad, but to me artificially lowering voice like that always seemed as unnecessary posturing. Real tough people don't try to sound tough, they just are tough.

Well I've watched a bit. It's got problems. Disjointed writing and it has the Netflix B-level flair unfortunately. Henry seems pretty good so far.

Only watched the first episode so far.
Pretty good, action looks suitably brutal. The kikimora looked...weird, but ok.
Is it my imagination or were one or two of the Blaviken thugs near the end sounding very, very similar to game VO actors for npc's?

Watched the first two episodes. So far, I like it, even though I'm little sad that story of the second episode wasn't adapted more directly (the short story is pretty hilarious). But as long as it's written well enough (read: not as GoT after season 4), I won't complain about some changes in story. Actors of Geralt and Jaskier/Dandelion/Marigold/whatever-name-he-has-in-other-languages are perfect. I like their chemistry. I hope Yennefer's story won't disappoint. And I also pray they will change Nilfgaardian armors and never mention those scrotums ever again. Is it my imagination or were one or two of the Blaviken thugs near the end sounding very, very similar to game VO actors for npc's? If you look very, very closely, you will notice those two guys are actually 45 % of extras.

Nice horror vibes. Not a fan of how they've depicted Aretuza, again, the low budget maybe. The sets look kinda cheap. Jaskier actor is good.

But so far, it looks like something made with heart and love for original stories, so I'm willing to forgive that. If the show goes on, budget will hopefuly increase (though I'm not familiar with the way Netflix has it in this regard).

I swear, though, I half expected him to promise Geralt he was going to "choke to death on three pounds of steel"

Just spent the day binge-watching the entire season... I really liked it. Everything from the scenery, swordfights and set props were awesome...loved that it was a good balance of grit, drama and cheese and all the acting was terrific. It was definitely a good watch... and it answered some questions I've had while playing TW3. The only thing that disappointed me was that there were no scene with people playing Gwent. ...but there's always time for it in season 2.

I only got to episode 4 but so far I'm liking the fight choreography and I think the actors are doing a lovely job. Yen has been my favorite so far and Henry has also been doing a good job as well. My problem is mostly with the cgi which I think they're relying too much on, and some of the costumes look a little cheap (especially Nilfgaard ). However, I feel like those things can be improved on with a bigger budget on a second season.

Only watched the first episode, Henry Cavill nails the character he's makes a credible Geralt. Action and fight sequences are strengths dialogue, editing, scenery need improvement. The whole middle of the show with the Queen was far too dragged out and dull, sucked the life out of the episode, that could have been condensed. To quote my mother who also watched the show Oh hurry up and die! I think it just killed the pacing and tempo of the episode. Regarding the production values, the episode gave me the impression that it was suffering from "Hobbititis", that weird artificial cgi look that plagued the Hobbit films, harsh lighting and fake looking green screen backdrops, scenery and sets, I found it jarring and immersion breaking at several points of the episode. That being said, Cavill redeems the show as he's well cast and convincing as Geralt, so despite it's flaws I'll persevere and continue watching.

Episodes 3 and 5 the best so far. I gotta say, I was critical of Anya Chalotra but she nails Yen. She might be the best casting in the show. My girl Triss is pretty forgettable though, and so far she plays no role in Ciri's life which is disappointing.

Overall I enjoyed it. Wasnt the greatest thing I've ever seen but it was solid. I think the only thing that really bugged me besides the ball sack armor was that they seem to use a blur effect around the edges of the screen quite often.

I loved the bond between Geralt and Roach, they made a great team. Henry did do a great job as Geralt and I just loved Yarpen and Jeskier/Dandelion.I can't wait for them to introduce Vesemir, Letho, Eskel, Lambert and Vernon Roche. I wonder how long it will take for season 2 to be made..?

nopersdeviv The show is adapting only the story of books, so any original game elements shouldn't be present (Letho and Vernon are CDPR original characters). If you liked Iorveth though, there is a chance they might introduce Isengrim Faoiltiarna in later seasons. They are essentially same character, both appearance and personality-wise. Gwent is still a possibility. It was mention only in one book, but I doubt Netlix would miss an opportunity to provide fan-service for players.

They have to at least have a bar scene where SOMEONE is playing Gwent... they must! I do think the show is really good though, it is interesting to watch. There really should be more shows like it. *is now waiting for The Wheel of Time series to come out*
