She shouldn't use spit if you are in melee range, or if there is no line of sight. Does not matter where I was, she never uses Spit twice: melee/no sight. I am standing in the open ready for her, but no second spit. Never. Maybe it is only in my game. I was thinking of starting an ME trilogy run. I don't know that I would record it. My upload speed is so terrible currently that it would take ages to upload anything. So, you do want to make ME run (just hear it not the first time), only ageless upload speed stops you? Stops to the point that you want and still think about it (yes, you told about is long ago). Problem that has no solution at all? I still watch your PTs. Often Interesting. Whenever I fight the queen, if I am not in melee range, she will spit many times in a row often. If I let her do this (because I have been too slow or am in a web), then the character has a huge amount of DOT, such that spamming health pots may not even be effective. I haven't downloaded the latest version of dain's, I have an older one that complements the old Dragon Age Rules Fixpack. As for internet, sadly there is only one choice where I am located, and it sucks. I might have to move before getting better internet.

It blows my mind that people can solo Origins. It's combat is easily the hardest of the Dragon Age games.

Interesting. Maybe just difference in games (or how is it called). As it has always been like that, even before any mod, even after several reinsallations. Continuation of DW Warrior no-pot-solo-PTStill decided to go further, to Dead Treanches. Before went to the camp to get rid of as much junk as possible Told about Ruck and got lvl 17 Told Orta and got 5 gold (for later if do not forget to get the rest promised gold) +2 str +1 dex To make my life "easier" took "Superiority" - now WC can be used almost all the time. Dead TrenchesJust will write about what was strange/new/unclear for me.*Many "yellow" - rank enemies though Aribeth killed them rather simple. *The Ogre on he other part of the bridge: - the main and most impostant thing: ram spam all the time on the bridge during my running (sort of running with that "knock down" all the fucking time); - resisted Reposte all the time: nothing special already; could have tried poison - have several kinds - though decided to save them and use "favor for a favor"; - with "ram-spam" managed to get to Kardol: they killed him just like that, in a second (no kidding), though could not handle some simple AD cannon fodder so even had to help them (btw, w/o help they indeed die, AFAIR, Kardol for sure of course + some of his men stay alive in any case); * Knocked down spiders look funny, do not know why; and Rally really helped (s) with them and not only with them. * On the way the were some mages using Crushing Prisons/Mortality Curses (no SR turns out - a bad thing to know). Will make praises to Rally again - had enough health though after those Spells would have died if not for Rally to which mages are weak to resist. A mage is going to use another spell on me (when I had only about 5 points of HBar left) and use exactly Rally as know it will for sure knock the mage down and will give me time to kill him. Rally is very handy (but not everywhere of course). * At some point you meet "Ancient Darkspawn: (with part of the the sword): a 2h boss (even has scary red-color bar) - saw some 2h abilities on my character though they did not last long at all (maybe PR finally started to work - almost 100 already) or he used MB that stunned my charater, but most of the time he still missed. Anyway what interested me in this enemy - he never resisted WC (even on purpose ran in circles to use Rally again and again for check - never). You need PR check, so checked his stats in WIKI. Could not find the table (lost that page somewhere I think), but some info still helped: - "It has donned incredibly durable armor and has hit points rivalling the equivalent level of a drake" - description; - boss: as "boss" rank amongst another bonuses there is also health, PR vs my str which is not so great (rather many points are in DEX); - so what is it? A bug? A boss with more health and advanced PR check could not resist poor str WC? Do not remember what was with my other GWs using WC on that enemy (as I use this ability a lot), but in this case it was strange. Wrote about it as was strange and interesting to me. * Forge Master: he is better in using a bow, not a hammer, though remember in previous PTs I on purpose forced him to use a bow as with hammer he just hit me all the time. Now on purpose forced him to use a hammer and he missed a lot (SnS-dex GW had dex as well + dodge armor btw). With hammer he managed to hit me only once. With a bow got his debuffs all the time if he hit. He did not resist WC (only once), himself used it 2-3 times and my GW never resisted it. BroodmotherDied here many times. Think because of poor nature resist as other things were fine. Had two geater nature resists but that was not enough. With what managed to win: switch Shophia's Plate for Templar + dancing around her (but sometimes failed - she grabbed me and that means "death"). Had to used swift salve. Used some bombs on her (already after understanding that needed some help). Health and STA regen helped a lot (from weapons and bijouterie). With other characters did not have such problems: used KCP + nature resist - that was enough. Dancing around her was difficult not to be grabbed. At least was melee (not bow) fight. Now only the last "trap" part is left, only will not go there now (I think). After decided to take part in Provings. Official: nothing even to say really - WC and killed one by one/or several with DWS (just a reminder - use only "momentum") plus lvl was high enough already. Unofficial: the same thing as with Official one - WC ftw, though there were 2hs (2 IIRC) with ID and one liked to use PS (asshole). Got a Blood Mage Ring. Will come in handy. Encounter "Forest Clearing": a pack of werewolves- had to run a little to avoid special attacks just in case, as enemies they are weak anyway in everything. Anctually had another encounter (went from Orzammar to the Forest to rob graves there for additional armor), do not remember that encounter at all (have mod installed for more "meetings"): four (or five, forgot) Sylvans attacking, using "roots" from the very beginning. Could not pass it (had several times on the way to the forest) - avoiding their attacks was very easy, but they used "roots" very often no matter where I was standing and "roots" always killed me. Do not even know the name of that encounter. Mages' Collective "Brother's Killer": decided to try and not in vain. Three attempts (first two - cheaters), the fair one - SP worked for some reason all the time, WC as usual, Reposte. Mage's Treasure: finished the quest. With each took 3-4 attempts. Could have come later though the thing is that it was always "almost". In each case did not even pay attention to the Revenant entourage (only killed the mage). Each time used only "momentum". Killed the Revenants but because of those GW fatalities did not have time to deal with the rest, so some simple skeleleton killed me instead of Red Bar Revenant. Observations:- noticed dodges rather ofter; - WC ftw (like ID with 2h) - think I already can't resist to take it instead of trying something else; - Web/Warrior talents "stun/knock down" were resisted almost always; - actually for DW warrior (as now play it), Dain's mod is more useful, than harmful. E.g. in the Deep Roads there was an encounter with an Orgre who grabbed me. If not for DWE DOT bleeding that just killed him, I would have been dead. Spider Spit was corrected to work properly and to be more "useful" attack, but DWE Bleed benifits? It is just so useful that sometimes I feel as if I cheat - use DWS damaging several enemies, then just run a little bit waiting for CD e.g. and during this one-two enemies just die from bleeding. After installing this mod with no-pot-solo-PTs of course had such cases where had to run in circles waiting for CD - and sometimes exactly that bleeding-thing took place. Or just did not get used to it. But that it makes life easier - that's the main point. Actually regret that did not install this mod during 2h warrior no-pot-solo-PT (but could, as capn233 told about that). There are 2hs bug fixes as well I really would like to use. Maybe now time for Haven.

I assume War Cry here? It is supposed to be a check vs strength, how much did you have after bonuses? I don't know what his stats are exactly either, I don't recall him really being too hard with a variety of characters though, just because he can usually be CC'd. It is boss level, so it gets +20 physical resistance. I had to search for it, but Dead Trenches scales from Level 12 to 17 supposedly, where boss rank can go +1 above the limit. So up to 18. The more you outlevel the enemy, the higher an effective penalty to their resistance chance there will be. I don't think this power was broken, certainly some high resistance characters can resist it (like Ser Cauthrien) without modals. Twisted Forest. I almost never see this unless running a tweak for encounter chance. Which is good because this encounter is annoying.

Ah, of course. Do not know why used Rally. Edited in posts of mine that "Rally" for "War cry". Thank you. It is supposed to be a check vs strength, how much did you have after bonuses? Str 56 level 17. Level 12 to 17 supposedly, where boss rank can go +1 above the limit. So up to 18. The more you outlevel the enemy, the higher an effective penalty to their resistance chance there will be. Actually after reading this part maybe that was the case as was level 17 already, though it is still strange, as boss still having advanced "everything" could not resist WC? I do not recall him difficult as well, but just interesting how systeme works exactly here, with PR check. Wanted to make even calculations, though could not find exactly his description. Thus - maybe it is not broken as you have said, but don't you agree that exactly advanced boos-rank enemy just SHOULD, at least ONCE resist WC. Again, on purpose lost several min waiting WC CD to use it - never. Why did you ask about my STR? certainly some high resistance characters can resist it (like Ser Cauthrien) without modals. she resists it on purpose to watch "Oghren + Zevran Circus"/praying Morrigan. Just mean it is made on purpose, so do not think the best comparison. Which is good because this encounter is annoying. To put it mildly. But thanks, as have said - got it the very first time and could not pass it.

Again, on purpose lost several min waiting WC CD to use it - never. Why did you ask about my STR? Asked about your strength because that is supposed to be used for the check. Or rather total strength - 10, like with most calculations (basically ignores the base 10 each character has). Problem is I have no clue what that units physical resistance stat is supposed to be, just from boss rank he gets +20 to the base, and also can max chance to resist at 100%. I assume based on Hurlock Alpha, but for whatever reason those don't seem to usually have very high physical resistance either. Resist_Chance = Target_Physical_Resistance - (Attacker_Strength - 10) + [(Target_Level - Attacker_Level)*5] + Target_Rank_Bonus Target_Physical_Resistance = ? Strength = 56 Target_Level = 18 (perhaps) Attacker_Level = 17 Target_Rank_Bonus = 20 Will just pretend it had 25 base physical resistance Resist_Chance = 25 - (56-10) + [(18-17)*5] + 20 Resist_Chance = 25 - 46 + 5 + 20 = 4

Asked about your strength because that is supposed to be used for the check. Asked you why you asked me as yourself told "no data available about that Ancient Boss". Presumed you would not make any calculations in that case. Was wrong turns out. I assume based on Hurlock Alpha, but for whatever reason those don't seem to usually have very high physical resistance either. Am I right to understand; you presumed that his "Alpha" status just could add more numbers to "boss-rank" + 20 and + 100% PR? And because of that "Alpha" status your furhter words for calculation are Will just pretend it had 25 base physical resistance ? What is still interesting about devs way of thinking that in general even if that whole "Deep Raods" Area is scaled for level 17 actually, meaning I can manage it all (explains why it was so easy with elites or other colored-enemies'), some enemies still can kill you in a sec. The whole area is suitabl for level 17 but "Hight Elites" are still hiding behind "usual enemies' and are put in there by devs. And in the end we get before Branka some dangerous encounters (I die there in "no-pot-solo"" usually several times, do not know about others)and Branka herself tagged as "Boss" with all those rank-adds + her golems. Red-Bar Alpha vs some white-bar Spirit-reaver - the last one wins. ------ Thank you for taking the time to make calculation, capn233 . Even with that simple enemy. Btw, could you please, post a link to enemy descriprions (health and everything) like this one I mean dragonage.fandom.com/wiki/Flemeth_the_ShapeshifterDo not know why but can't find in internet and in my browser info about Branka with everything. Wanted to make some calculations out of curiosity, but can't. Thanks anyway.

Asked you why you asked me as yourself told "no data available about that Ancient Boss". Presumed you would not make any calculations in that case. Was wrong turns out. I suppose I wanted to do the calculation to see what sort of physical resistance it would need to rarely resist with your strength. I am not sure the Alpha is a status so much as just a different unit from the Hurlock. Also to compare the Ancient to the other Hurlock Alphas you run into with more frequency. But yes, I think that the Ancient probably just uses Hurlock Alpha base stats, with bonuses for Boss rank. That is a guess. I just made up the 25 physical resistance, I would assume it is probably higher than that. Level scaling is locked when you first enter the area, so if you were actually level 16 or less at the beginning of the area, he would have been a little lower level. I think part of what happens with development is the devs may think that people will play the game a certain way, with certain builds, and tuned difficulty that way. Sorry, I don't know if anyone has ever listed her stats. She seems to have high physical resistance from what I remember. As an aside, I did think it is surprising nobody had collected more enemy stats for this game.

am not sure the Alpha is a status so much as just a different unit from the Hurlock. Also to compare the Ancient to the other Hurlock Alphas you run into with more frequency. But yes, I think that the Ancient probably just uses Hurlock Alpha base stats, with bonuses for Boss rank. That is a guess. Yes, that is what made "do not understand" post on my behalf. Why put red-bar (color does mean "the enemy should be difficult") into the game with the name Ancient Darkspawn as the Alpha Hurlock if it is a simple alpha hurlock. It is not as if there is a certain rank systeme amongst Archdemon army as some military has. Though the first name "Alpha", even the full name "Ancient Darkspawn" with scary red-bar health should give players some ideas, like "my status in comparison to others is indeed higher. Fear me, lesser creatures." There are simple enemies, there are alphas. Only Ancient Alpha according to the encounter itself is a simple cannon fodder (you wrote "no problemes", I wrote the same). Comparison could be made w/o often runs into that enemy; there are several Alphas in the game. At least it is something to work with considering the game itself. You performed a good example of that. Level scaling is locked when you first enter the area, so if you were actually level 16 or less at the beginning of the area, he would have been a little lower level. Maybe he was. Further enemies with white color will simply kill me. Pretty sure of that as that is what usually happens anyway. I think part of what happens with development is the devs may think that people will play the game a certain way, with certain builds, and tuned difficulty that way. It is obvious. And was not my point. Maybe it is a normai thing to do for devs to hide difficult enemies behind the simple ones and use them all of sudden. It can add some interesting turn of events, yes. Thank you for enlightening thoughts. I did think it is surprising nobody had collected more enemy stats for this game. Yeah, I remember you have mentioned it at par with using special tools to get that information. Sorry, I don't know if anyone has ever listed her stats. She seems to have high physical resistance from what I remember. She does.

Etc. of no-pot-solo-PTAfter robbing graves and getting useless for me Armor Set, did Wynne's quest as was there and got 90% useless for me amulet. Morrigan did some swift salves. Zevran did many bombs (good saved ingrediends and kept them in the capm) - will thank him later for his help. Had some small quests to turn in (mages'/Denerim), decided to run around a bit turning them in, though actually was hoping to get encounters as several difficult were still left. Encounter Desolate Highway with pack of wolves and traps; a simple one at this lvl (17) - WC and they are done. Got "Dead Drops" for Interested Parties so still had to run a bit with the final stop - Ozrammar (Redcliffe is the last one as always). Encounter Treacherous Path (with 3 Ltn shades + 1 boss shade) - 3 attepmts. Used only "momentum". Resisted "slow" of every shade but the the Boss (only sometimes, resisted for 1-2 sec, no, resisted, no etc). One "no-PR" of my GW during the "leap" of Ltn shade + one "no-horror" resist. Had to run in circles a little. Shades did not resist WC which helped a lot (Leader only once). Their DEX seems is above the line according to my misses - are they considered "rogue-class" cross-breed with "mages-class" enemies or something? Tbh it is the first time I missed so many times during that encounter with any class at all. Looked up in WIKI. "Shades are divided into two types: lesser and greater. The latter are more powerful and have several additional abilities. Both types have 50% Fire resistance and 5% Spirit resistance, and are immune to stun and sleep effects. Finally, they rely on mana and are thus vulnerable to templar abilities, Mana Drain, Mana Clash and Magebane Poison." So nothing about their "dodges" (think my ability to hit and not miss was just fine). Found the usual things for ranks of Ltn and boss + no PR for WC fits in as they are mage-types (as wiki says) . Though no info about those misses. Maybe just bad luck as have mentioned "the first time missed so much during that encounter". Anyway - that encounter is finished (only with some questions). Thanks to Shades got level 18STR +2 DEX+1 Master Coercion Punisher Will write about the build in the end Encounter Chanter's Board "Desperate Haven" (saving people it seems is already the most important thing here, not the task itself) - went there too early, so only 1 is alive. Replayed about 20 times, used different methods and sustained abilities, always 1 is left or just die. Could have come later though did not want to replay several other things. Do not like the outcome even if during other such PTs at least two could be saved (never could save even half of them anyway on NM mode at least), so just left it like that - one is alive. One is better than zero. Encounter "The long Raod" (3 blighted wolves + bear): very easy, WC helped, dodges, PR. Decided to try Flemeth Dragon fight. As usual: just try to kill her, but then reload, take the book and leave Flemeth alone (as "reasons"). This time: as capn233 has mentioned in one of his posts, Flemeth is easier in comparison with Haven High Dragon. This time it was so (though Haven is still ahead). Three attepmts. 1) Was eaten. 2) Spit fire spam, starting even before the battle was initiated, though almost killed her but was burnt alive: just forgot to push the button with fireproof balm - was too excited that in a few sec she would be dead, but her spit and I am dead. 3) Was spit fire, though not throughout the whole encounter at least. Used: - 1 greater + 2 smaller fire proof; - talents: DWS most used, "Cripple" 4-5 times, "Punisher" 3-4 times; - with "fire spam" health regen things are very important: effort plate/ weapons/bijouterie; - as for tactics: the same spot closer to her front leg, but not too close not to be eaten and not too close to her rear part not to be hit. She tried everything (eat/hit with paw, tail) - was hit, but managed to avoid "eaten parts" at least. Killed, reloaded, left Flemeth alive, went to the camp, gave Morrigan the book, listened to her sister-love speech. Changed my armor back - Sonya's plate. ------ The build As have mentioned: will still try at least 60/40 (as with SnS no-pot-solo). At level 17 took "Punisher" - long animation, useless when many enemies are attacking. Still "Punisher" is a good talent, but not everywhere as that long animtion and there is resist check anyway, but still got nice damage. But for a warrior to have CC talent is very useful. One already have - War Cry, used almost everywhere: almost no resists from enemies (only very strong), short CD, low STA. Holy Smite is what needed as well; useful as differs from WC. But it is used rare in comparison with WC anyway: long CD + much STA. For now need 2 points to get HS. Have to wait only. For now the build is fine: damage, dodges (still need some armor to buy but no gold as usual), talents. Can't complain. ------ The end for now.

Etc of DW Warrior no-pot-solo-PT
Godwin in the circle - finally could blackmail him properly with Coercion 4.
Orzammar
Did some small quests (Rogek/ some idiots with logo "for Jarvia"/Legion of the Dead Cast).
In the camp tried to empty the bag though did not buy each part of it (poor City Elf). Changed nothing more.
Anvil of the Void
Reinstalled Oghren recruiting mod tagged as missing content (after Morrigan's quest, that mod was the probleme last time). Still working. So no Oghren - convenient again.
Alright, that was weird. Golems, already the first room. Usually weapons with higher AP work better, even the damage is higher, it is visible indeed. Now nothing at all. Use any weapon I want and nothing changes.
Dodges worked just great! Used Momentum all the time. First used poisons (have many of diifferent as usual), after several reloads refused from it - did not matter that much with my "tactics". Noticed how Cripple worked with some golems even if slowed them for a short time. Good crits, with and w/o using talents. Golems randomly (un)resisted WC and Punisher. But mostly did not. Died several times already in the first room from 1 km Slam (ID is great, but damage does not go anywhere).
After that mess with some golems had to run to the first "cave" (where that bitch could not shut up) and run in circles a bit. That Slam spam was annoying.
Golems in the second room were very weak to PR (WC mostly, if had opportunity - Punisher worked very well too).
Apparatus
X attempts. Used in the end again health regen items/greater spirit resist/always swift salve/poison/momentum/DSM; w/o DSM maybe would be able to win as there were many "almost -attempts", but even with all that + DSM reloaded do not how many times. Spent last and the only spirit balm (lesser even did not help - the same as with the High Dragon btw - only greater). Actually what was important to use imo as helped me: - health regen: plate + weapon + trinkets; - swift salve + momentum (using only one of them made things worse); - greater spirit resist as lesser was not enough.
Poison/DSM - optinal as imo of course, some more patience and attempts and that "trap" could be destroyed (but do not want to check again, though left a save just in case). With other two no-pot--slo-warriors managed to win, thus thunk DMS just made things faster.
Branka
Bombs + DWS + running - that is the tactics. Several attempts. Only during the first attempt Branka had no PR at all, though her Golems killed me. Further attempts - DWS for bleeding at least + hit golems as well. Threw bombs. Used swift salve - w/o it my GW turned into a snail.
Went to take Topsider sword.
Gave a crown.
Took my promised gold.
Sold junk.
Next maybe will finish Orzammar with Shale.

Cadash Thaig (Shale past)
Used only Momentum. The Ogre is as usual with his ram spam is the probleme. To avoid Orgre usual ram spam had to run around some object to use Reposte (stunned him half of the time at least) + DWS, DWE DoT worked, Cripple debuff - no. Dodges did not work at all with him. But thaks to bleeding was fast at least.
The only thing - somehow missed one groupe of stealthy DW enemies. So had to fight the Ogre and those Cripple-spammers. Strange as I was going through that area and not fast. Why they did not pop up.
Encounter Bloody Plains (finally again): ran to the mage, WC to get a pause for me, Punisher for a mage that killed him (just for the hell of it), WC again, archers forced to melee. Alpha did not resist WC, got his debuff. Easy.
Finally some gold (over 200 even, wow, a whole fortune for some CE)
Bought: Anduil's Blessing Belt Evon the Great's Plate: as usual an inner conflict to buy this or Felon's Coat as both are suitable for the build. This time decided to buy "Evon the Great Plate" (+1 health/sta regen + dodge). As for Felon's Coat: stats are suitable for 60/40 build anyway. Simply put: just some changes amonst PTs - the reason.
Oghren's Love Caravan: done.
Orzammar Exotic Methods (poison): done (not on purpose only, just happened had ingrediends and Morrigan nearby).
Haven Temple
Lvl 19 Str + 3 (as 60/40) Mental Fortress
Haven Dragon
- many attempts already because the Dragon was very hungry this time; - fire spam as usual + eat spam already; - used: fireproof what I had (weapon, armor, balms - 3) + health regen what I had (armor, weapon, trinkets); - DoT from DWE helped again, mostly used DWS and Cripple (Punisher and Reposte several times) + simple hits.
Some weird things and notes: - always resisted PS from 2h Reavers (once failed only): mention it as have never seen any of my GWs resisted PS. Never. Got that PS resist anyone? PR about 100 but it never mattered anything for PS, low STR (as 6o/40 build). Lucky? - still nice crits; - no dodges even after got even MORE dodge gear; - SR - 50/50 (died several time because of it only); - Drakes: even w/o any dodges (WTH?!) health regen still helped - were killed in no time using talents I wanted though with usual approach standing in some place where only two of them could attack at a time (otherwise not a pretty picture); - High Dragon started eat spam: actually did not die from that (had enough health already), just after that she always used fire spit = death.
Next stop - Redcliffe (before the ambush, will turn in some quests, will order useless armor - do not even know why I do this with such builds, with 2h at least useful).

Only your physical resistance score should matter for a pommel strike from an enemy. 100 physical resistance is the cap and pretty significant against regular enemies.
I think the resistance chance is supposed to be capped at 75% for player though.
Sometimes you can see "resisted" if an ability misses, but pommel should not do an attack roll, so defense score and % chance to dodge should not apply anyway.

I think the resistance chance is supposed to be capped at 75% for player though. Sometimes you can see "resisted" if an ability misses, but pommel should not do an attack roll, so defense score and % chance to dodge should not apply anyway. Did not say anything about connection of physical resist from PS and dodges with defense. Dodges worked and no - depends. Even with cap PR could have very long debuffs, but in other cases they did not work at all. Mentioned about PR from PS as it was the very first time. 100 or 80 as I had. In all 50-60 PT no resist from PS. Never, even with 100/different builds/different str+ dex+ con. Maybe in your PTs you had it, in my - that 100 mattererd nothing at all. No resist at all. And here, all of a sudden, "resisted PS". It was significant for me as the very first time. The only reason have mentioned it. What have noticed (others might not care about my words, but I do not care they do not care, will write it anyway): these no-pot-solo-PTs were luring when saw the thread. Yes, made team PTs, two DW Warrior pot-solo-PTs - about 50-60 PTs in all. But have never had anything weird, out of place. Though now have only the third no-pot-solo-PT and already saw many weird things like this PS from PS. capn233 is very kind to explain many things, but some of them can't be explained - it is a game, where something can be broken. What I am saying, these no-pot-solo-PTs for some reason showed rather many new interesting things which I have never seen before. Why now my GW resisited PS? The only of my GWs, though most of my GWs were warriors with different builds. Can anyone explain? It's a game - maybe the only explanation. But as have mentioned anyway, such no-pot-solo-PTs are illuminating in everything, in understanding of the game (at least what could be understood). Guess should say capn233 "thank you" again, for such idea.

DW Warrior no-pot-solo-PTIn the camp rearranged some things (nothing special). First went to Redliffe listening to Alistair's huge storylife to get his quest. As usual did not go to the bridge not to trigger the whole attack-quest. Ambush (instead of Denerim) Shale and Wynne died. Amie took punches like a real champ. Mental Resist worked. DenerimTurned in some quests. Did Alistair's Quest. Still think about "better armor". Do I need it at all? Will have gold, yes, though, what is the point? Anyway did not order it yet. We'll see. GaxkangWhile was there decided to try. Three attempt with random SR. Used: swift salve/cold resist/spirit resist/demonic poison (just had many) + momentum. Evon the Great Plate was useless. Used in the end that Templar armor from the Cirlce Templar. Used Starfang (changed Duncan's as Starfang had + 8 % SP at least) + Maric's Blade because of regen. RedcliffeBefore the Attack did all small quests I could. Got Sten's Asala back with Sten's help. Preparations are usual (w/o oil not to kill myself and others): repair/moral/Dwyn/"holy procections"/moral/drinking/moral Plus "convinced" Lloyd and that Elven Spy. The AttackAll was needed: momentum, WC, DWS and Swift Salve (3). Got my helmet though reloaded several times because of only one person who was so "eager" to fight - Lloyd. Others are fine but he always runs away somewhere so had to watch him = reloaded if was too late (5 times). Think capn233 desire always to save everyone started to kick in from time to time (just noticed that feeling sometimes). Anyway DW Warrior is very good at keeping everyone alive. WC helped a lot as with the previous SnS Warrior. With DWS and momentum (which I ignored in other PTs) things are even better. Next - the castle to clear it out.

I like to just insult Lloyd so I don't have to babysit him in the fight. And I am like a silly girl threaten everyone to fight and after - very right word - "babysit" them. Seriously: just try to make some things more difficult on purpose (though in usual PT prefer another outcome for Lloyd before the attack). War Cry is a good skill there. To be honest using "War Cry" sometimes feels like cheating, like in some further encounters. On one hand - why not? On another - makes thing too easy. War Cry saved my life many times. Almost a build w/o much thinking. ------ DW Warrior no-pot-solo-PTLevel 20+2 STR (65 str) +1 DEX (45 dex) As goes 60/40 build it is now 59,09% str/40,9% dex Holy Smite (second AoE ability) --- Did small quests and talking in Redcliffe, took in some quests. Went to the castle. The usual as in previous PTs: - let Jowan go to get his quest later (where died once, so that is the reason); - cleared the castle to get to Connor and just tried to fight the DD; - after reloaded and used magi ritual where used again Irving; - cured Eamon; - went to Denerim as already had an army. Desire Demon EncounterOnly momentum was used, about 1 min - nothing to be surprised considering each time Redcliffe is the last stop before LM. Encounter "Unintended Consequences" for Chanter's Board: again easy, considering timing and level. WC for them all. Irving in the Fade with his useless spells for that encounter: Did not even die, but almost. Used "preventive" tactics, which almost killed Irving in the end, but turned out well. + 1 Talent Point from Eamon - Precise Striking Encounter "Caravan Down" for Chanter's Board (with darkpspawn + 2 mages): easy. Ram tactics: Punisher for one (killed), Holy Smite for the second (was stunned) + some hits. Then the rest. Encounter "Dwarves vs Darkspawn" (with 2 ogres): while was dealing with one ogre who rammed me all the time (used Reposte 2 time + hits), the second ogre killed almost all other darkspawn and dwarves with stones. For the second also Reposte (worked with 2 ogres). Encounter "Brothers and Sons" for Chanter's Board (with wolves and a bear): fast and easy. Encounter "Redcliffe Soldiers vs Darkspawn": easy. Before LM turned in Chanter's Board Quests and got lvl 21. Level 21+ 3 str Skill Survival 1 As now got all talents I needed, just put points to "whatever" - Whirlwind Called the Landsmeeting. Was rich (for that moment at least) so bought Felon's Coat (used it in some encounters further to compare). Ordered "better armor". Crime Wave "The Crown": killed everyone. Zevran AmbushNot so difficult, though not so easy as well. But War Cry helped a lot there. After Zevran moved on, with my GW in front of him. Harsh Decisions "Intrested Parties" Ambush/Hideout: normal though WC made it much faster (during last PT remember had some difficulties - if not for WC would have died). Encounter "Jowan's Intentions" for Chanter's Board: easy - do not understand why I died once back there because of OV. Rescue the queen"Evon the great Plate" was useful with health regen. While was going after Howe died once as was OV'ed by torture idiots and did not have enough health regen. The second attempt with Evon Plate was rather simple. HoweRan away a bit further, mages did not follow. Was very easy to kill Howe. WC helped again, only one resist from Howe when he had 5 HP left. Mages: WC, Holy Smite, again started to turn into a corrupted spider, WC helped a lot this time. Told Anora she is a bitch CauthrienAs usual ran to the far room (again ram approach failed - tried several times). 1) Many reloads but at least was useful for checks. 2) Dodges did not work at all, started to work after relaunched the game. 3) Wanted to check what talents she did not resist; results are good: - Reposte- always resisted - Punisher - 50/50 (knockdown) - Cripple- 50/50 (slow down) - War Cry - 50/50 4) Killed her with running around relying upon WC and DWE bleeding. Was lucky to have such combination, which took away half of her health: WC - Punisher - Cripple - DWS + some hits (with no resists so damage was very good). After according to situation. Beheading fatality. 5) The main thing was "health regen" gear so "Evon the Great Plate" helped (compared with Felon Coat - it was useless). 6) That Summer sword "knockdown back" worked all the time on me when she used simple hits. Though I remember during my 2h CDO PT that "knockdown back" worked not so often, even if enemies were usual. After killed everyone in the castle, robbed and went away. First decided to do "setup" Crime WaveNothing interesting. Walked around Denerim turning in some quests. Returned to the Estate. Told Anora to FO by not speaking to her at all and going straight to the GW vault. Next stop - slavers.

DW Warrior no-pot-solo-PT (continuation)The AllienageDevera3 attempts simply because was OV'ed by the number of enemies (usually die there anyway several times with the same reason). Always fight near the next door, find it convenient. Caladrius3 attempts. Did not changes armor/weapon and did not resist any spells (+ no SR runes). The third attempt - took two swords with +8 SR each and all of a sudden resisted every spell. This time did not do "Otto" quest with rage demons: very annoying tbh, but I had what was needed (resists, fire-proof armor). DenerimTurned in some quests. Change in Leadership for Irregulars: killed Taoran using WC and some running to kill first archers otherwise it is just stupid OV by the horde and archers' debuff all the time. In general nothing diffcult. Level 22+2 str +1 dex "whatever" talent Bought "Skill Tome" (rich now again - 300 gold) Survival 2 LandsmeetingBloodbath: tried to kill as many guards as could avoding Loghain. Though when he used WC my GW never resisted it. I used WC he resisted always. At some point was tired of Loghain who stuck to me, so had to fight him. Used only momentum. Killed him rather fast w/o many guard attacking me at the same time. Duel with LoghainNo resist from WC from both sides. Only momntum, fast. Anora to the tower. Crime Wave "Andraste Tears": killed everyone could find. Went to the camp to rearrange runes. RedcliffeVillage: killed everyone, died once - caught Mortality Curse right after Ogre Grab. Ram spam as usual. The Castle: very easy, even the Orge with whom usually have problemes. Reposte worked just fine with him. level 23+1 str +2 dex "whatever" talent Denerim BattleMarket DistrictThought would never get out of there: nothing worked at all - no SR, PR, no dodges, as if I came there naked, no weapon and w/o any training at all. Do not know how many reloads had - guess was very unlucky that time. Spent 30 min for that part. The first time happened such a thing. So used DSM + swift salve - did not even die "face-to-face' as got high damage from his talents all the time (speed helped greatly "momentum + swift salve"). After the General again used only "momentum". The AlienageThe same thing. Lured mage, caught mortal spells all the time; once was lucky using DSM which turned off right after killing the general. Drakon StepsThe same with X reloads. Tried different combinations of everything/tactics/resists - where are my resists to anything at all? Even relaunched the game. Actually after 3 attempts later everything was as usual (only had 2 drakes all the time): with some enemies almost died as usual, could catch some spells as usual, to others had resists as usual, if needed changed armor/weapon and it helped as usual etc. Drakon insideAlmost the same. From tactics helped: ignoring smaller punches and dealing with mage/elites even if after that lost almost all health and had to run a little from more simple enemies (+ swift salve, good Morrigan made rather many of them). Still died, but at least it helped w/o X realoads. ArchdemonOne attempt. As usual used everything: ballistas, arrows, melee according to the situation. Though last several hits are always melee. - Used spirit balm (2) - weapons/armor: changed all the time to see what was better again according to the situation. Final thoughts:- build is appx 60/40. Nice damage and enough STR for talents to work with whom they could; dodges - sometimes it was really noticeable (even with last "broken" part in Denerim). But in general do not have that nice feeling about the buil (like with SnS - dex Warrior e.g.), maybe because of strange Denerim part (have just finished PT); - DW Warrior was and still is one of my favorites. Can survive, do nice damage, has useful talents (with Dain's Mod some bugs are fixed and sometimes e.g. "bleeding" from DWE saved life); - got crits all the time with simple hits or using talents; - what happened in Denerim do not know. Thought maybe the build, though it still worked if the battles were fair. The end ------ In the images further "numbers" are lower in comparison with what had as no sustained abilities, armor is not full (in the end did not use helm already) etc.

Oh, thank you. ---- Actually was thinking what to do next as "no-pot-solo" as indeed like this idea. Was thinking yesterday whom can choose not get bored. - thought about shapeshifter mage, first as did not use pots as all and now already in the camp. Though the only thought I have to use spells most of th time till get other forms and AW sspec just makes me feel bad. Well, realy do no like mages. Tried to do some small quests but he main thing is dex/str/mag/will - how to distribute and what weapon and armor to use? - next thought to try your "str-rogue" as really like the idea but still thinking. - who is left? Mages and rogues. Listen, capn233. Have an idea about rogue though under meddrugs now, maybe think of some crap. Or sometimes, you know, a person can have an idea but does not understand it is really srupid or wonn't work as talents work this or that. Need opinion from aside - something like that. Already stated that GW actually. But would like your opinion about it as there are some resriction, e.g. backstab or crit? If both can be used, backstab has priority for some reason. Such things. Idea - dex rogue but exploit CUN talents. So as with warriors had 60/40 str/dex, but in this case it will be dex/cun. There are passives for which you need cunning like assassin or coup de grace, lethality even. So the probleme is - there could be bugs I now nothing about though still have Dain's mod - restrictions I have mentioned about "backstab priority" - maybe that restrictin does not work and there is no info about it. - what weapon to use better Idea: have dex rogue though still use CUN to make those CUN-depending talents actually useful. Have some thoughts about the build, talents, specs. Already started as DEO for more exp. In DEO already died fighting that bear as he used OV and dirty fight did not help, so had to exploit his stupidity not to go far from his room and used a bow when he had low health. See alredy some difficulties. Maybe try DEX/CUN as well as 60/40. Just to dot know how dodges would work, or CUN for talents. Know apppx what armor need at least (made some researche), trinkets, weapon is a real the question, spell resists is the question, want first "duelist" spec, after" assassin", need stealth, palalyse runes. ---- Well, any advice maybe about using exactly CUN talents but still be "DEX-rogue"? Maybe it is indeed a stupid idea. But want something new/interesting/"not-dying"/ass-kicking as possible and use and check how useful those CUN talents (as well as wanted to check SnS warrior "flanking" damage" but it is difficult"). Will raally appreciate any advice.

But would like your opinion about it as there are some resriction, e.g. backstab or crit? If both can be used, backstab has priority for some reason. Such things. Rogue will backstab when flanking, unless target is immune to backstabs. It is essentially an automatic critical for flanking, although IIRC the offhand runes never activate for this. I think dain fixed the bugs with rogue I was aware of so in the list of fixes they should be listed. Dalish Elf origin right? I think I just run in a circle around the eluvian a million times using sweep. With that split and assuming Lethality, probably best is dagger-fullsize. Very early, probably also dagger-fullsize until dexterity is high enough, or on-hit damage is high enough. Base damage superiority for the fullsize keeps them competitive until dex is quite a bit higher than strength (or cunning if Lethality taken). I think as far as defense goes, it will be fine for most encounters, but some will require abusing Master Stealth, the map, or kiting. Getting health regen isn't quite as easy as for warrior, and armor rating will be low. Archer would get around this sometimes with Defensive Fire and / or Suppressing Fire (like vs Uldred). You'll want a set of daggers or dagger+fullsize that has all spell resistance runes. The dwarven armor Owen gives is ok, and add on Antivan Leather Boots, Key to the City, Spellward, and Ancient Elven Gloves. That is about all the spell resist you can get IIRC. I would consider doing Bard and maintaining Song of Courage, which will scale better with cunning than Duelist (which doesn't really scale). For runes, early I might prefer best damage runes you can get with maybe a hale. If you can afford two Grandmaster damage runes from Bodahn early, then that is a nice DPS boost. Paralyze runes are the most helpful after Coup de Grace so that you get automatic backstabs on the paralyzed target. For rogue, you sort of end up with some of the cunning scaling talents anyway, a lot of them work ok with low cunning (like Song of Courage) since they give a flat bonus + extra based on cunning. Or for some there aren't really alternatives, so might as well get it.

So many tips. Thanks. And questions. Rogue will backstab when flanking, unless target is immune to backstabs. It is essentially an automatic critical for flanking, although IIRC the offhand runes never activate for this. Is it corrects? As have read in WIKI that simple backstab has priority and no crits allowed in the case of "two these abilities could take place". Found: From WIKI "Backstab has higher priority than critical hit: if all backstab conditions hold true, an attack out of stealth will be a backstab". Dalish Elf origin right? I think I just run in a circle around the eluvian a million times using sweep. Yep. Did the same though it seems could not avoide bear OV. Never. Thus used a bow. You mean main hand - dagger / off-hand - fullsized? If understood right so need DWM for this and it is only lvl 12. I think as far as defense goes, it will be fine for most encounters, but some will require abusing Master Stealth, the map, or kiting. The goal is to abuse backstab damage using passives. CUN is needed for those passives according to descriptions (pure rogue + assassin). So simply get higher damage not only from DEX itself as a usual DEX-rogue, but by using backstabs (fkanking/runes - whatever). So the question is: do I understand correct (still can't think straight, so sorry for maybe obvious or stupid questions): higher the cunnning - higher damage from backstabs with such passives as coup de grace/Exploit Weakness/Lacerate/Riposte + if take Song of Courage attack/damage/crit chance will be higher as CUN is high. Yes? Actually, do they work at all? Or maybe damage is higher but not much so there is no point. Do not want simple DEX-rogue. Interesting how those CUN-depending passives work and damage from them. But pure CUN-rogue with poor def with low dex? Who needs that? Thus some split of dex and cun, but what exactly - check accordng to situations as was with warriors str/dex. But I simply at a loss about CUN-damage-passives and do they works at all. Of course can check it during PT myself, though if you could help by any tips, advice, it is better in this case. If you know what I mean. ------ Thanks a lot for other tips what to use, though my "at a loss" situation is really "at a loss".

DW Rogue no-pot-solo-PT
Rules are usual: no DLC items/ no damage from the team if they are required for the quest/will try to keep the team safe, but it is not necessary.
Chose the Dalish Origin (was tempted to take CO again and again).
No-pot-solo-PT, yes, though need some "elf-PT" and a certain save with certain decisions. Of course if will be able to finish this no-pot-solo-PT at all as have never had rogue-solo, only some quests. And as "no-pot"? Can't imagine.
DO has more exp. As for loot? Do not remember tbh, but the dalish armor and weapon are rather useful for the beginning of the game.
Here we go.
DEO DW rogue no-pot-solo-PT
Will say right away: after three PTs as a Warrior already forgot how to play as rogue it seems: so fragile.
Origin
Two problemes.
The bear: always used OV when had low health. Tried to use DF, but no help as bear was always the first. So exploited his warm feeling for his room with a mirror: refused to go far away from that mirror, so when he had low health I switched to a bow and lured him from his room and while he was running back and forth arrowed him to the death.
Second: mage. Such a "life drain" spammer (that spirit amulet from my weak mother that just left my GW was so "helpful"). Ran around the whole cave. So many reloads. Used poison + the only swift salve - again many reloads. Finally got lucky to kill spammer-mage.
Well, the Origin as no-pot-solo was very bad. ---
Armor: full dalish armor with some armor set bonus Dalish daggers + a bow. belt + 0,75 STA regen + 1o % spirit resist amulet
Build:
CC Dirty Fight - given DWS Stealth + 5 DEX
used two tomes + 3 dex Skill CT2
level 2 + 3 dex Skill coercion (made a huge mistake, had to take "steal") Talent DWT
level 3 + 1 dex + 2 cun Talent Flurry
Ostagar ----- Warrior is a favorite class. As a warrior just ram the horde, use War Cry and kill everyone. As a rogue just sneaking around.
And as on purpose everywhere warriors parading aroungd with 2h weapons. Fighting with yourself is usually difficult, even in the game. ------
Made a mistake in skills: had to take steal, not coercion and now pay thre price for that mistake.
Talked to others, took quests, visited shop, was rude with shopkeeper, that chantry bitch (returned a favour), took the key by killing (act of mercy on my behalf).
Korcari Wilds
Using daggaer after swords looks pathetic.
Now run in the KWs, died several times in the beginning with wolves, had two encounters wtih darkspawn groups, luring them with a bow. For now early to say something about def/attack. What is obvious - low health and poor armor do not do any good. Got lvl 4 though stopped for now in hope of getting some tips.

Sonya, a backstab is a priority crit basically. It uses the same formula a critical hit uses for calculating damage. The only diference is that a backstab has a 100% chance to happen if all conditions for a backstab are met. A critical hit may happen based on a % chance, randomly; a backstab may happen 100% of the time if the conditions are met.
Critical hit may only happen if the hit is not a backstab. But you may also be questioning why this diference exists.
I, first, must say that every time you get more critical damage, you also get more backstab damage. If you want an example of a passive that does this, you can check Find Vitals at DAO wiki. You may also check the formula for critical/backstab damage, and confirm that both of them use the same critical damage modifier. Weapons always increase backstab damage when they increase critical damage. Voice of Velvet and Rose's Thorn are two great examples of weapons that do this. Other equipment do this as well: Fingers of the nimble, red jenny seekers, cailans gauntlets, backhands, angled strikers, wasps sting, blackblade helm, crow daggers, deep roads girdle, etc. Intensifying runes do this as well.
Second, mechanically, a backstab has some exclusive influences. You may know that only a Rogue can backstab. There are some skills that influence ONLY backstab damage (that means they are not going to influence a critical hit damage). The skills that do this are: Exploit Weakness and Shadow Striking. This is why a backstab focused rogue has the potential to do high amounts of damage, mainly if there is a tank available or tremendous amounts of CC (paralyze runes for an example, or Dirty Fighting. If a mage is present, Petrify, Mass Paralysis, Paralyze, Glyph of Paralysis, Cone of Cold). Flicker is an rogue AOE awakening talent that does auto backstab. Flickers damage is influenced by the passives mentioned in this paragraph. The passives and skills in this paragraph have no influence onto critical hit damage. To sum it up, it goes like this: a backstab is influenced by every single critical damage bonus. Not every backstab damage bonus influences critical damage. The backstab damage bonus that do not influence critical damage are only Shadow Striking and Exploit Weakness. On a last note before moving to the next point is that you cannot shatter frozen enemies with a backstab. You can only shatter them with a critical hit.
Third, from an archtype Point of View, rogues were designed to be a sneaky damage dealer, so they get to the back of their enemies and unleash full damage potential.
BTW, while cun rogues are very good at dealing damage, they are terrible at taking it. Their evasion is low, unless you equip yourself to boost it (check Evasion(talent) at DAO wiki for more information on this). Although i do not like evasion because of its animation. If soloing, you will have to be resouceful. Use stealth, combat stealth, potions, bombs and thats it. Remember to buff up with poisons and coating before difficult battles.
Yes, Cunning does wonders for a rogue (even if no backstabing, because with Lethality, Cunning not only adds damage, but also, armor penetration). Cunning does wonders even for a no-backstabbing rogue (for an example, Archer Rogues). Keep in mind cunning does not add attack (accuracy) as STR does, although you can "kind of" fix this with Song of Courage (it adds crit chance, damage and attack based on your cunning. Check Song of Courage at DAO wiki).
Cunning rogue, with a correct build, deals MUCH MORE damage than a no-cunning rogue. That happens because there are passives, buffs and skills for rogue that add damage based on cunning + cunning boosts damage and armor penetration with lethality. Here is a list of them. For more details, check them at DAO wiki:
Lethality (Cunning is used for calculating damage instead of Strenght) Lacerate (adds |0,173 x (Cun-10)| damage to backstabs) -> Of the listed in this 4-item list, this one only works for backstabs Song of Courage (adds damage equal to |2 + [(Cun-10) x 0,05]|) The tainted blade (adds damage equal to |5 + [(Cun-10) x 0,2]|
Of course, the tainted blade is a complicated buff to use while soloing, so you may erase it from the list. And there is still the thing that a Cunning Rogue has a hard time when taking damage, but there are ways of dealing with it.
If you want to have an idea, a min-maxed Rogue may end up Origins, at level 25, with Cunning above. 100. I will use Blazomancer's Cunning Rogue in the below video: that Rogue has 107 cunning, which means a boost of:
Lacerate: 16,781 damage Song of Courage: 6,86 damage Tanited Blade: 24,4 damage
Together, all of these buffs add 48,04 total damage to backstabs (31,26, if we do not consider lacerate). Here is the video with the Rogue i used for this example (stats are shown at 1:51):
I hope i have been able to answer your questions.

BTW, i would just like to add that the video is not mine, and the Rogue is not mine. I said "the rogue i used" wrongly, i was just refering to the "rogue i used for the example". Just want to clarify on that.
