Strength rogue has higher attack, physical resistance, and can use heavier armor. Also doesn't have to carry a bunch of + str items around to equip the weapons and armor. Cunning does better damage.
They aren't really all that far apart. If you put a lot of points in cunning before level 8 though, then the character will way weaker than any other rogue until Lethality is taken.

Putting points in CUN in the beginnig is a strange thing to do anyway. Enjoyed that cun-rogue PT, just think what no-pot-solo to choose and now the only option coming to my mind is your str-rogue. Have read several times that thread of yours, now think things through how not to screw up as rogue for me is a tricky class with those Lethality take//take not, right weapons in right hands, using right runes etc. Many thing to forget actually.

What was bothering me - getting XP during Ostagar and the rest of the game. Now replay with the team and is spending time in Lothering as 2h warrior. Indeed in the game itself it was as I remembered: the chest is opened (Leliana in this case does it) - I can see XP popping up above it. But in Ostagar when Daveth opens chests (and remember maganed to disarm a trap somehow once), the are no numbers above the chest though have checked that GW and Alistair get XP anyway. It seems devs missed that part and originally Daveth should not be able to open chests maybe (but IIRC even without trinkets he can open some chests without numbers above). Anyway why Ostagar does not show the player XP he gets for openning chests is unknown; or maybe someone knows something as things have been changing all the time considering how many cut content, missing dialogues and other things we have. ------ As for no-pot-solo-PT. Have been thinking a lot about strength-rogue, have read several times capn233 str-rogue thread. Though doubts are simple: afraid to be bored just stabbing things all the time without using talents (like with DW Warrior e.g.). Think just start, though can't choose what origin. Another thought was to make battleaxe 2h Warrior, but know this weapon is sort of crappy. Thought of using at least DLC Battleaxe (like with Warrior Archer used DLC bow). Decisions-decisions.

DW rogue stamina management isn't as good as on a warrior. If Assassin is taken, you can get Feast of the Fallen, but it only restores stamina if the kill is from a backstab IIRC. But it should work ok once you get some stamina regen gear, and with high strength you have a choice between several of them. Getting Warden Commander set early would give +0.5 stamina regen on the chest, and the +50 stamina on the boots.
On 2H, Dragonbone Cleaver actually does a little more average talent damage than Starfang (since crit is a little better). Otherwise vanilla game ones are pretty lacking. Faith's Edge and Metashear are ok, but you don't get them until the Urn or High Dragon.

Thanks for telling; if possible will try to watch this part closer. About the rest - I understand (or I hear you - how's better to say?). Was thinking about this part as well and think have a feeling about just backstabbing to the death without using talents because it is no-pot-solo, I simply under attack and not in the position to use different talents as they are not suitable/half-useful/there are better to use not to die - such things (though in general they can be used, just in different situations). -- Actually have already started Battleaxe no-pot-solo. Now running around in the wilds with a simple BA. Was going to make a post after getting Morrigan into my team (still have to arrange my usual during-PT-notes into a readable form). Going to use DLC Cleaver first (if find something more modest but not so crappy - will change that DLC). For the whole game wanted to try Kolgrim's weapon. But will be seen later.

After contemplations and meditations have chosen Battleaxe 2h Warrior (strength-rogue is damn attractive and will try it in any case when everything is alright in all spheres).
Battleaxe-2h Warrior-no-pot-solo-PT
As usual some thoughts before PT.
Things which are (very) bad for this PT: - capn233 has already mentioned about lack of BAs in the game, that what was stopping me as well thus started to think about using DLC BA at least - during first no-pot-solo there were checks of 2h weapons and BA did not show itself as a nice weapon to use; actually I felt sort of dissapointment (or something similar to it), mostly stopped using BA in comparison checks - due to lack of BAs in the game can use other 2h weapons in case "no battleaxes in my backpack at all/just crappy BAs"; during first no-pot-PT with comparison checks I looked through shops, suspect will have to do the same this time (back there even found BAs with rune slots) - DLC Cleaver requires 38 strength, so what can use before is still a question
The very first thought what Origin to choose - a common dwarf actually since one of favorites and 2h suits to this origin even if DNO is better as "gold", but had already 2h DC no-pot-solo-PT. Chose the Origin using not the brightest argument: who will be more good-looking with a battleaxe (besides DC). A female elf is always good with any 2h weapon, but already have in team PT now, thus a noble human origin which I really do not like from the story point of view. Whatever.
Created a character. Did not respec but used tomes as usual.
Rules for me are the same: no DLC items, just the usual I use (like Honnleath helm ). But DLC Battleaxe will use since there is lack of BAs in the game.
Have Battle Fix mod installed which makes some things easier, some worse; enemies' talents are also fixed.
Another bad thing: just might not find a battleaxe at all before can use DLC BA.
Enough talking, if anything will write later.

HNO-Battleaxe-no-pot-solo-PT
Attributes during CC
str 20 (15 + 5) dex 14 will 10 mag 11 cun 11 con 13
Skills CT1, CT2 - given Stealing 1 - for obvious reasons, plus had one PT where just forgot to take this skill and missed many things.
Talents Shield Bash - given Pommel Strike Sunder Arms
Skill Tome Coercion
Attributes Tome + 3 str (so 23 str in general)
Origin
No 2h weapon at all, just SnS + a short bow. With rats just waved my sword. Stole from everyone in the castle if they had anything: the guard, servants, family - got only some crap and health pots. Used most of the time "diplomatic" answers as so much talking (just know already those conversations and was simply boring), forgot what a bitch that chantry mother, Duncan was too polite to decline my night offer so spent night with my hound till attack.
First had to use sword and shield, had to use Shield Bash as was killed by the second enemy in my room (nice start). One reload here, killed two enemies and got level 2 -- lvl 2 + 3 str Powerful (taking ID was really tempting, but my STA is low and going to use 2 active talents; even if know the leader likes to use PS. Decided to try this order). --
Killed 4 enemies as SnS warrior, in parents' room found greatsword - just as expected: no battleaxes for me. Will write when find one. The origin itself for no-pot-solo is sort of difficult: if lure tactics can work - it is easier though not everywhere; the leader can be a problem as he is a fan of ID and PS (last time as SnS warrior had to use chairs or something in the far room to hide from him, managed to kill with a bow only after several attempts). In some places the guard helped, died several times.
But with that leader half of the time one thing works: lure helpers (just showing up is enough) and run away - the leader usually does not follow. And when he is left alone just charge in and try to kill him. In this case he usually turns on ID in the middle of the fight (but uses PS all the time), or does not use ID at all. With this GW first time he used ID a little bit later and PS'ed me to the death (was near death himself). But the second time there was some glitch with him: he just stopped attacking me while standing in ready-to-hit-posture.
The main thing: it was not Battleaxe-no-pot-solo. To think of that: do not remember any BAs at all every time chose this origin, but in DCO e.g. got it often (as well as a maul).
Ostagar
After arriving got lvl 3
-- lvl 3 + 3 str Poison - another lesson from some PT where could not even use bombs when needed them most, had to wait forever Indomitable - did not use at all as still low STA --
Did the usual: talked to people, grabbed the team, opened some chests, did all quests, stole some things (mostly it was "fail" which is not surprising).
------ Armor: the initial leather Trinkets: the stolen Hardy's Belt + 1 CON Weapon: here I did not a smart thing from "gold" point of view - bought a battleaxe. Would not have done it, but it was already the second part of Battleaxe-PT without BA. After that became really poor.
Battleaxe T2 Damage 11.00 Crit chance 3.30 % AP 3.45 ------
Korcari Wilds
During the first underground ambush got lvl 4
-- lvl 4 +3 str Mighty Blow -- Consisted of "lure". Some deaths. Bow-action.
As for BA - at least during this part satisfied with that BA: got crits rather often (surprise for me), damage was good when actually hit an enemy.
-- Some numbers from Korcari Wilds
Battleaxe (the same) MB 44-50 Crit max 50 Usual damage 22-46 -- Another thing which can't figure out (did not look through internet) - Armor set bonus. Using my initial leather armor set T1 and Daveth's leather set T2 gave bonus + 1 defense according to the screen at least.
Put on Jory Chainmail armor set, got the green icon in the corner, but saw no bonus on the screen, attributes are also the same. Does it even work? --
Gave the flower for the price. Sold some things, bought some bombs, balms and flasks (made some deathroot extracts).
After the Joining
+3 str Have two free points - putting them into some abilities is useless since those abilities are useless for me now. Maybe later distribute them with lvl up more efficient.
The Tower of Ishal
In general - one of the fastest PTs in this part as usually there are annoying problems. Maybe got lucky battleaxe.
Usual "lure" everywhere. Max crit - 53. Got crits rather often again.
The ogre: not to waste time used a bow standing in a corner.
Somewhere closer to the Ogre part got level 6 but did not do anything - left for later after getting Morrigan.
Saved in the hut.

HNO-Battleaxe-no-pot-solo-PT
The post is small as dedicaded to Battleaxe in general, in the end will describe that stuff.
Start from the korcari hut.
Got level 6 -- lvl 6 +3 str CT3 Stunning Blows Two free points are left --
Had 38 str to use DLC Battleaxe Cleaver. For now switched to it, but will try to find something else (the goal is getting Kolgrim's BA for the whole game to try).
No getting-the-hound-encounter, but suspect would not have had anything new: several reloads as "killed" or my team punched someone; 1 acid flask, 1 fire bomb, and running in circles trying to avoid attacks and using PS + something.
Lothering
From quests did everything. Got a discount. Leliana robbed people.
Bandits on the road
Got some money from them, got rid of the team. Got their loot to start encounter: - first ran to my usual hiding place, killed two enemies (DW and 2h) with a bow, the leader got some arrows to start a dialogue - after had two reloads as was trying to melee enemies first (failed), second time needed ID ON as was stunned - finished the leader on the bridge + his friend archer forced to melee, and another one always stops near the man who can insult you.
Usually have more bow-action, tried melee. That additional slow-mo, because it is BA, complicates things. But turned out well anyway.
Put on the Elven boots + 1 CON The ring Surveyor + 1 WILL
Getting Leliana
Three attempts. Tried to leave Leliana in the centre running away after doing damage so enemies continued attacking her (instead of getting after me, which is strange), forced archers to melee and back, Leliana backstabbed enemies if they were attacking me. Killed everyone leaving the leader, who killed me twice with Sunder Arms in the end. The third time again started to run back and forth to distribute leader's attention btw Leliana and GW. Worked out.
The rest encounters are just "lure" using a bow as well, but in comparison to other solo-PT used melee more often trying to get used to the weapon; and as a result died about 15 times in general.
Killed the Bandits Leader and put on his Armor set for now.
During eliminating the third group of bandits got level 7 -- lvl 7 + 3 str Templar spec Righteous Strike Two free points are left --
About Battleaxe BA has a fine damage but some adaptation to rather slow swings is required. During using talents (Sunder Arms, PS, MB) it is not so clear, but with pure swings the difference from a greatsword/maul is visible: switched Chasind Flatblade/simple Maul T2 to BA Cleaver right in the middle of battles in Lothering all the time (the purpose was just to check that slow-mo, compare at least apprx).
Some numbers and crits
Damage level 6 MB 62-76 crits 75-76 usual damage 36-48
Damage level 7 MB 64-83 crits 65-71 usual damage 40-54
Saved in the camp.

HNO-Battleaxe-no-pot-solo-PT
Talked to people in the camp. Did everything what could there (mean enchantment etc).
Got Zevran (mod Zevran ASAP).
Got Star Metal
Played part of Ostagar (before the bridge with the deadman), put on dodge boots. Went there to get gold and buy KCP, not for boots even if they are fine.
Sold things and had about 40 + gold. Only forgot about KCP and went to the Circle in the old armor (from Lothering Bandit Leader) with dodge boots from Ostagar. Remembered too late (for me) - did not want to replay those encounters. Oh, well.
Broken Circle
-- Usually see no point to write in such details about difficult encounters. But in this case will add more details because have noticed some minor things connected with using Battleaxe. Impression will place in the end. --
Will write about ecounters where usually die million times.
Usual problematic places did not go anywhere. They always start from the second floor with three mages: die there with different strategies including running around, but the best way for me just throw 1 acid flask (or bomb) and run back or around the pillar nearby. After - depends. Last time (mean in this PT after several deaths here) got crit for the first mage, the second was without protection glyph as the third got PS. Fast enough can say, even with that slow-mo which is noticeable anyway now.
Second Floor.
After killing the third shambling corpse got level 8 -- lvl 8 + 3 str Threaten - useless Bravery One free point is left --
Manage to split corpses very rare thus die there often as well. In general if just charge in it can be done but need some crits going on so it's just luck. This time had some "almost wins", but some corpse punch always finished me. Was lucky to divide them.
Black Vial Revenant
Checked it only out of curiosity about numbers and misses
Tried five times:
MB 37-75 one crit 78 usual damage 30-67 Very many misses from my GW.
One more thing: tried five times and each time the damage (including MB) was higher, that lonely crit got during the fifth attempt. At the same time with each attempt got more misses.
Will return here later.
Third Floor
Hall with Arcane Horror and corpses: managed to split those waves and corpses as well. Acrane Horror got PS, Sunder and MB in the end + Templar passive. It did not have time to cast some spell on me.
Hall with two rage demons: did not want to use the balm, used amulet +5 fire resist and some belt + 10 fire resist. Can't say it helped as always died from fire DoT even if Rage Demons were dead. Reloaded several times relying upon crits and actual hits.
Desire Demon with templars: killed templars with lure (two lures). DD was alone. Well, usual cheaters with no CD and endless mana pool casting spells under stun, PS or death. As died there 50 times waiting for luck noticed many times: if not for slow swings - could have killed DD faster.
Did not activate the quest with pages - too early for that. Hope won't forget about it.
Bewitched Templar - deal after the fade (just will have more space for manouevres).
Blood Mage with three temlplars: rather easy this time (lure with kills worked from the third attempt. Plus running around).
The Fade: the only real problem for me is Sloth in the Ogre form spamming ram. Used forms in that encounter. -- lvl 9 + 3 str coercion 2 two free points --
Bewitched Templar: took several attempts as usual. Use the next free room to lure, if manage to do that - fine. DD - depends as cheaters. The only downside here that whoever I have with me usualy dies as there is a cutscene, so it all depends on DD behavior. The main thing - leave DD alone and after "lucky or not". Could use Templar armor at least. Always died because of DD.
Further rooom with pack of shades and a rage demon - took one attempt. Lure worked.
Uldred: no running and kiting (can't do that properly). Used that construction near the ladder. Four attepmts as three times ended up on the ladder (nothing new, but each time got some massive attack, punch through the wall and spell). Last attempt - Uldred could not do anything, I stayed under that conscruction with a bow.
Shah Wyrd: fire DoT + fireballs. Three attempts.
-- In general: rather fast PT in the Circle Part (another surprise for me). Slow-mo in some encounters: noticed in problematic places that even one second could have made a difference. And died because was not fast enough - BA slow-mo.
Initial thought: "would be rather bad". But nope, fine and well.
One thing though: do not want to use this DLC BA (have some bad feeling using this DLC), so think will change the usual quest order and go to Haven sooner to get Kolgrim's BA. --
Sold things, wanted to buy something with health regen like the ring Lifegiver but after the tower had only 60 + gold.
Maybe will finish some encounters in Denerim or something like that. Or just go to Honnleath. We'll see.

HNO-Battleaxe-no-pot-solo-PTCareless accusations: hell of attempts. As 2h - solo had more difficulties. Also noticed some slow-mo was a problem. In the end used deathroot poison, PS for the leader, 1 acid flask + 1 fire bomb for a mage (enough to kill but he managed to heal himslef so + Sunder Arms). 2h "we even saw darkspawn" always got PS, killed SnS, PS for 2h again, killed that ranged enemy (ID ftw), after was making rounds waiting for PS CD + one hit. Was a good thing he did not resist (only once during some previous attempt). Had 4 points of health during running and PSing. Put on the ring "Seal of Rat Red" (+10 mental/ph resist). Killed the deserters near the inn: one DW enemy used Cripple right away - at the same time felt that Battleaxe speed is not that bad. There is always some templar hanging near the river and always happy to help punching my enemies. But was easy in any case. Went to Denerim to get some gold: did combat and non-combat tasks in Denerim and outskirts (not everything). In general was not that bad, in some encounters was even easy even if got used to using a bow. "Stuns" passive helped a lot. Though two encounters were difficult: - the first Crow task in th Pearl - expected problems as always have them with that lvl and solo-no-pot. Spent two days trying to kill them. In the end gave up already and used 1 acid flask + 1 fire bomb + 1 electro bomb + 1 spirit bomb. Even with them spent the whole day as different reasons like killed myself with bombs, was unlucky to get hits, missed myself, no dodge etc. Also took Zevran with me there to open some chests but during the final attempt he got some damage from bombs (otherwise he is just in stealth with "hold"). Could have returned later with health regen, but waste of time. - deserters inside some hut (for Irregulars): tried again and again, used stun poison as well - did not have enough time to kill everyone. Usually use PS for the leader, run to the corner near the bed and from their have time to kill DW enemy and run a bit to kill the ranged enemy. The leader is the last. In this case did the same and some other variants - too slow. SO this whole time have been trying to kill the deresters in the hovel and failed again, again and again. Tell the truth do not understand WTH was that as my level, armor, trinkets, weapons (battleaxe and sword), stun poison, strategy were as always thus have never had problems in this encounter till now. Stubborness to spend so much time for that. Stupid. Date 03.03.2021. - guess one of the greatest days in my life in DAU. After several attempt finally killed them all. Had to use 1 acid flask + 1 fire bomb. Assholes. In the beginning of Denerim tour got level 10 -- lvl 10+3 str three free points -- And now have enough gold to buy something health regen. Made a save in the camp, but the next stop - Orzammar (to get rings), after Honnleath, and think will try to get Kolgrim's Battleaxe. --- Another thing. capn233 in one of his no-pot-solo-PTs as DNO showed an image where had a glitch during encounter with bandits in Denerim outskirts. He ended up on the wooden platform and used a bow there. Tried to catch that glitch myself several times without success till this no-pot-solo. Not that it is so important, just interesting. Anyway ended up on that platform, killed 2,5 enemies with a bow, but moving around the platform was dangerous as from one side got Cripple and Flurry from DW enemy, from another one - Assault from that bitch. Tried to lure some enemies and kill someone else - no result. Ran to the usual place (a corner provided by the cart) and used a bow. But at least got what I wanted. And some images as well of that magical place.

The deserters inside the building in Denerim seem harder than the other two groups. I have no idea if they are simply scaled higher or they have different unit properties or something. Have always felt "harder" because of limited space for fight. Thus - the problem. That time (month delay in PT-post) was a surprise. HNO-Battleaxe-no-pot-solo-PTOrzammarBounty hunters - for later. Imrek: a bow. Deserters (for Irregulars): funny thing (funny because the very first time saw it) that ran to my usual hiding trees and their ranged friend decided not to help melees. DW got a bow, 2h - pure melee with a lot of misses from me, so now can say PS ftw(!). After killed the last one. Bought the ring "Lifegiver", before leaving Orzammar got the ring "Key to the City". Stealing took place of course. Did some fights and small quests here and there: the usual which could handle (caged in stone dragon remained caged e.g.) Anyway again just checked the Revenant: the highest number was 66 (5 attempts). Right after that had tunnel thieves encounter: - got right away 103 from MB, and 98-86 from Sunder Arms - was SO easy: three thugs (one 2h + 2 DW) ran after me but had no problems with them at all though usually there are some and use lure ====== Conslusion: need some other Battleaxe as getting 103-99 with level 10? Nope, too easy (in places). ====== Had a simple Battleaxe with one rune slot (T4) - tried in Orzammar in some encounters (with empty rune slot): max damage was about 70 (tried several times). Even had to run in circles from 2h thug with ID ON waiting for health regen and SA/MB CD. Think will try this BA. --- Edit: bought BA T5 in Orzammar with two rune slots (2 gold +). In Dust Town got level 11 -- lvl 11+ 3 str 4 free points - do not need now anything: either need lvl 12-14 or CT4 which I do not have, so whatever for now -- On the way to some other place (Honnleath or the Circle) had three encounters: wolves with traps/three blighted wolves + one blighted bear/twisted path with thugs ambush. Now I am in the camp as could not pass any of these three encounters. What is interesting (for me at least), during first (IIRC) no-pot-solo here checked Battleaxes (as well as other 2h weapons), but left BAs soon as was dissapointed in them (bugged or something). But now, with T4 and T5 BAs had good damage and often crits (!) - that's great and inspiring, but lack speed. Could have passed those three enconters (used stun poison as well in addition to good rings and armor), but was too slow and got OW from fauna or simply arrowed to death. Weird (about that comparison and this PT). In the camp will improve my T5 BA with runes and go to Honnleath (maybe on the way visit some other places).

HNO-Battleaxe-no-pot-solo-PT (continuation)
Camp
For Battleaxe T5 used + 6 spell resist/+ 2 electcicity damage
Templar armor from the Circle (now it is fine in terms of buying KCP or not) Gloves of Diligence Cailan's Dodge boots Helmet from the KW
On the way to Honnleath again had encounters could not pass till got Gentle Path (both times).
Honnleath
With those two good rings and this nice BA was quick. Resisted spells most of the time.
The only problems was with Kitty (spell spam): three attempts. Used 1 smaller warmth balm + 1 acid flask. During last attempt first killed Kitty (lucky resisted her ass freezing spells), after was rage demons time. Almost died as missed a lot.
Got my helmet.
-- Can't complain about this T5 Battleaxe, for now at least. Misses are misses everywhere. Usual avg damage - 50. Crits - max was 90, otherwise 75-85. Health regen ring + attrb are savers anyway --
Haven Cultist Ambush: easy, that templar was of great help punching others.
Visited the Circle to tell about Dagna and went after the Revenant: 5 attempts, no balm, it was always "almost dead" thus tried several times. Avg damage 45. Max crit - 70. Was fine.
Encounter "Five pages, Four Mages" (activated while was in the Circle): had doubts, but strange things still happen. The real problem is that mage: if his first spell to immobilize works, I can reload without waiting as that paralysis always lasts foverver. Had two attempts but not because of the mage, just melees. Resisted twice that paralysis, ran away to lure the mage and kill him. Had level 11, health regen and attrb rings were useful while I was running in circles to kill the rest, but my spell resist was only 30 % (20 % armor + 4 % ring + 6 % rune).
Bounty Hunters (near Orzammar): rushed in to kill the mage, still had health to kill the ranged enemy: got half of his health and almost died thus ran away to my hiding trees. Arrows for the ranged enemy + SnS (he was just on my way), BA for DW and 2h enemies. My ID somehow turned off itself.
Dagna gave me Master Dweomer rune (+ 8 % resisit) as "thak you". Very nice.
Aeducan Thaig Killed everyone and everything. Close call was only during deepstalker ambush: used one lesser nature resist, only always, even before that ambush, saw "resist" all the time, resist to some deepstalker abilities but did not understand which exactly. Once was OW'd by the deepstalker leader (rare thing to see). Stole a dagger from Lord Dace. During saving his ass got level 12
-- lvl 12 +3 str CT4 As saved points had already 5 of them thus Cleanse Area Death Blow Powerful Swings Two-handed Strength Two-Handed Sweep --
Killed Ambassador for the Crows (THS and DB came in handy)
Fanatics: THS ftw
Went to the Dust Town. Killed thugs in that small room (THS ftw), opened the door to the Carta Hideout. Killed the first bunch of thugs from the third attempt - not good. Left the Hideout and went to the camp.
------ About Battleaxe behavior: According to WIKI "have the highest critical rate, but the slowest attack speed". Attack speed - yes. Crits - in Aeducan Thaig started to count crits, but stopped at some point as they were indeed often.
lvl 11 the highest crit 94 lvl 12 the highest crit 107 ------
Still have that feeling "something is not right". I still die in enounters, yes. In spite of slower attack speed and deaths my GW kills enemies rather quick, the damage from simple BA is nice. Even stated to check the difficulty from time to time (NM mode, so fine). Annoying. Do not know what is going on.
Anyway, now in the camp. Think next will visit the Dalish and Haven. Or DLC areas.

HNO-Battleaxe-no-pot-solo-PTChanged one rune - 8 % spell resist instead of + 6 %. Got Axameter. The Dalish-- Last time played a Warrior with reports here, Templar ability "Cleanse Area" did not work during the last fight with that dalish MF (the funny way to do it). capn233 did not meet such glitch according to his comment (since he is the only one writing here; or used to at least, which is sad really). Did not have any saves to check again and no other GW. Actually that is the reason why first came to the Dalish instead of other places. -- Did what could in the camp, took in some tasks and went to the forest - got the book from a new couple to get a helmet for the dalish armor set (just in case) - found the ironbark and got the nature resist amulet - found werewolf wife - halla-thing (Leliana helped a bit later) In the forest had no real problems. Found the hunter, was OW'd several times and died, that's all. The only concern was the Hermit. Took about 10 attempts. Used ice bomb + acid flask to get rid of rage demons + the Hermit always helped with his "cone of cold". Used some lesser resists but was just a waste. The last attempt was lucky as resisted his spells mostly (with no balms) + PS + did not miss as crazy + more crits. Tried part of "Mage's Treasure": stupid skeleton with DSM, nothing else. Tried several times, was tired in general so left for later. But think several more attempts and could have been done (at least the part near the Hermit). Two Ogres came after the Hermit so just used that "stonehenge" to get rest, used THS through menhirs - wanted to avoid ram-spams as annoying as hell. -- Returned to my camp to rearrange things, gave Zev gloves, runes to the circle and got level 13 -- lvl 13+3 str Mental Fortress --- Ruins/Lair (more or less important things): - dragon: just arrowed it to save my time, but forgot to take away Zevran so "roar - death" (did not want to relpay that) - spider problem: almost no WEB resist, poor armor rating it seems as got nice incoming damage followed by OW-raping one by one. Poison - not a big deal (lesser balm + amulet). Died about 10 times from pure spider-melee damage, after found some statue where spiders were confused for some reason (still almost died but at least something) - mage spirit (near "mage's treasure"): was fine if not for spell spam, but even with that just did not have enough damage/was too slow (does not matter in this case) to kill and prevent that spam. Thus used two bombs to get rid of some part of its health + PS + THS (she casts spells without animation anyway). Greater Shades were not a problem. Black Vials Revenant №1: killed him, but was the same thing as with another warrior from this thread - needed better "everything", but did not want to come back (no fast route to get there), so ran to the hall where that mage was, ran in circles waiting for health regen and MB CD. First used MB (to check max damage) + SA (if had enough health). Tried "no-running" tactics with balms, resists, rock armor, swift salve - no help at all, no dodge at all. Switched Templar armor to Juggernaut Plate for armor rating. Anyway, spent about 7 min for that Revenant. Numbers could get out of my Battleaxe with this Revenant: - crits 75-89 - avg damage 55 Black Vials Revenant №2: face-to-face was too early (tried several times) so ran away - sometimes this Revenant does not follow at all, or runs anyway, or stops near some door. This time he stuck near the door (as well as his sword stuck in that door half of the animation time). Can't really complain about that as I could hit him, he tried but missed . That was some new way of Revenant fight. So MB gave me max 92, avg damage 55 Practically twins standing. ZathrianWanted to check that spell resist - 36 % and first kill the dalish so could try to meet Zathrian and Lanaya, but failed to convince. The main objective was to check out "Cleanse Area" - did not work...again (checked many times from different parts of the lair, near different werewolves considering number of further melee attemps was not so tiresome). Melee way: million reloads as no spell resist. In the end ran to some corner not to be surrounded, killed Zathrian helpers while Zathrian himself remained near the door casting AoE spell and killing werewolves. After ran after Zathrian - resisted his spells all the time. --- Sum upWhy "Cleanse Area" did not work? Have no idea. Read WIKI just in case missed some information. Nothing new as it even mentions using "CA" with Zathrian. It should work. So...glitch? Agian glitch, before PC crash and after reinstallig the game. Too bad. Battleaxe: should have bought more powerful electro rune (had + 2 electro damage). Sometimes slow-mo was annoying, but in general was fine. Spell resist + 36 % was a matter of luck - encounters with Zathrian or with mage spirit were fine examples. --- Not enough gold to buy nice trinket (about 75 gold now). Maybe will visit Haven or DLC.

I have no idea why Cleanse Area doesn't work in your game. I know others had used that same trick in that fight to break Zathrien's Mass Paralysis on the wolves. I also don't think you have to move from the very first spot to use it, as enough wolves should be in range of the AOE.
I don't think Cleanse Area should even have any checks for dispelling the hostile magic.

I know others had used that same trick in that fight to break Zathrien's Mass Paralysis on the wolves. Yep, including me. All of a sudden Cleanse Area just stopped working. That running around was just in case if some glitch or something. It's a game afterall. Strange things going on.

HNO-Battleaxe-no-pot-solo-PT
Went to Haven.
On the way had "Mage encounter" and got level 14 -- lvl 14 + 3 str Spec - Reaver Devour (helped a lot further). --
In Haven started to kill from the church. Went fine.
Temple: - died rather many times if compare with other no-pot-PTs - killed everyone and everything, but the guardian and the second path to the caves
Kolgrim: - had to lure them one by one - 2h, SnS - Kolgrim: had to run away even to the arcane warrior cave to run in circles as died several times; had about 70% misses with him; used PS and after hit or miss (no STA); damages 45-60; - mages: first after the cutscene died several times as got right away one hex after another and freezing spells (died in several seconds); with lure resisted hex or other spells and just rammed them.
Equipped Faith's Edge (with no runes)
During the Quiz part by accident chose the wrong answer - Ash Wraith killed me.
Got the ashes and level 15 -- lvl 15 + 3 str Coercion 3 Holy Smite --
Returned to the camp to sell things, rearranged runes: + 8 spell resist/+ 5 electro damage. Bought the Spellward.
The High Dragon Used the Diligence Armor for health regen. Also used warmth resist balm (3-4), but was no need as was lucky and the dragon did not spam Fire Spit. Additional health regen helped a lot.
Went to Godwin, but could not get the dagger. Whatever. After bought Andruil's Blessing.
Went to Denerim and turned in some quests for mages, irregulars, crime wave etc. Finished the Crow's Task.
Leliana's Crap - ambush: the usual way not to trigger across-the-bridge enemies with using a bow. Took several attempts because of the mage and the Leader damage; - Marjolaine: died once in the very end (she punched me with some crit), the second attempt was actually close to the first one.
-- Battleaxe "Faith's Edge": - some crits here and there, can't say there were more in comparison with my previous BA - max damage (MB): 118, otherwise about 100 -- Used simple stun poison often and it helped a lot. As did the Devour.
Saved in Orzammar. Maybe will try the Carta.

Carta Hideout
Going through that place was rather easy. Reached Jarvia door, but left two halls to deal with them after Jarvia (spider cave and the zoo).
Before Jarvia got lvl 16
-- lvl 16 +3 str Frightening Appearance --
Many attempts using different places and tactics.
What used: - swift salve + crow poison (stun anyway) - what is bad - used hell of my grenades stock (was tired of losing and it seemed using grenades was the only option for me) - in the end was running around from Jarvia waiting for powers CD - FA helped with Jarvia - got it just in time
-- Battleaxe "Faith's Edge" - runes: +8 % spell resist/+5 % electro damage - Templar armor from the Circle tower, Honnleath Helm, Cailan's dodge boots, gloves from the elven armor set - the best trinkets --
Before (or after, do not remember now) "Carta" had encounter "Darkspawn vs the Dalish": barely passed it. With several attempt. Had AoE abilities but did not matter, armor rating seemed to be really bad. Hell of misses.
Soldier's Peak
Potentially difficult places: - Abomination: two attempts as burnt to death (second wave has Rage demons) - Sophia closed the Veil: two attempts. Used warmth and cold resists. Sometimes there is a short break when can make a save but was not lucky. Went as far as possible from the demon portal so the demons did not approach right away and I could have at least some health regen.
Got a shiny 2h sword Starfang (just in case but the BA is fine for now).
Switched Templar armor for Shophia's to see how it will affect crits.
Some numbers
Battleaxe "Faith's Edge" max (MB): 123 (with some demon) usual damage: 50-75 depending on the enemy (e.g. with Sophia/Jarvia it was avg 55) had more crits for once 100-105 - finally
Spell resist during "Soldier's Peak": 8 (rune) + 4 (gloves) + 20 (plate) + 30 (amulet) + 4 (ring) = 66 % --
Maybe will be able to finish some minor tasks to get gold as want to buy Evon's Plate and order "better armor" before going to the Deep Roads - the only place left to go before pre-final part.

Before (or after, do not remember now) "Carta" had encounter "Darkspawn vs the Dalish": barely passed it. With several attempt. Had AoE abilities but did not matter, armor rating seemed to be really bad. Hell of misses. Were the archers using Sunder Armor, I can't remember if they do. The Shrieks there seem to do a lot of damage.

Were the archers using Sunder Armor, I can't remember if they do. The Shrieks there seem to do a lot of damage. True about the Shrieks - they are always the problem. Just in this case killed them rather easy and after the rest enemies just arrowed me to the death without any debuff (at least did not see anything), too may arrows, slow health regen, poor armor as if were naked at all. IIRC from such encounters after plot quests this one is the only one giving troubles because of enemy and arrow numbers. At least as solo-PT goes.

HNO-Battleaxe-no-pot-solo-PT
Wynne's quests: - first meeting: nothing difficult but Wynne died as aggro'd attention (did not want to replay)
As went to the forest to finish Wynne's quest with her student: - dalish idiots ambush: killed them - for Mages' Collective killed blood mages after three attempts: during the last one used Templar armor, Holy Smite and the rest is fine, though casting several annoying spells after death was really impressive - finished Mage's Treasure with three Revenants: running in circles was involved each time and Armor of Diligence. Wynne died once
- second meeting: was easy and that is strange. Used "nature resist" right away but was a waste. Ran to the left and killed melees there, after went after Omega (he did not move anyway) interrupting all the time his spells, and some other enemies.
Got level 17 -- lvl 17 + 3 str Shattering Blows --
*** Wanted to check any changes using Warden Commander Plate with crit stats: - max was 136 with level 16 - still had often crits in general: 100 + - did not notice changes actually in numbers ***
Encounter "Wolves with traps": had it already, but always failed. Easy this time.
Still no gold for Evon's Plate thus "Ostagar" (continuation).
- fast and easy even in expected problematic places. - max damage during this part - 155 (MB as usual)
-- Put on Cailan's crit gloves for no good reason it seems. --
Encounter "Desperate Haven": died million times there trying to save at least someone. Final variant included no survivors among refugees and waste of swift salve, nature resist and one acid flask.
Encounter "Twisted Path" (with bandits): almost died actually, but was the first time the archers could not shoot through rocks for some reason, and that saved me from reloading.
Could not get gold for armor without cheating, so went to Orzammar anyway.
Killed Fanatics on the bridge right behind two guardsmen.
Unofficial Provings: got some gold, died twice.
The Deep Roads (some moments)
The Black Vials Revenant: spent 30 min, left the game, started again after 2 hours (just could do nothing, ran back and forth to restore health, used different armor parts but did not help). What was interesting: the second time could make saves in two places, got my health regen, but the Revenant did not restore his health. With this Revenant it was the first time. Had the same thing with Werewolf Lair Revenants, but they restored their health. Last attempt was with crit armor parts: - noticed that using them got higher crits actually (100-130) - avg damage 55-75 - used one swift salve + spirit damage (wasted in this case, but who could have known)
Got level 18 (Caridin's Cross) -- lvl 18 + 3 str Survival Sunder Armor --
After getting level 18 had many enemies to fight and what was really nice to watch: constant crits 120-155, very often. Were moment with "miss-miss-miss" of course, but it seems I underestimated Battleaxe + armor. Maybe armor has nothing to do with that but comparison during that Revenant encounter showed the difference. Coincidence?
Made save in the Spider City. ----
Some notes-questions.
Sunder Arms and Sunder Armor.
Sunder Arms always gives crits (the WIKI description confirms it). Sunder Armor does normal damage as WIKI says as well and have always thought the same. Do not remember crits using this talent. Though used this talent (after got lvl 18) and had crits as well. Strange.
Crit part.
Each 2/3 succesful hit was critical.
Do not know if the following attributes matter anything for 2h warrior in terms of crits, thought for DW/SnS warrior (str/dex) it seems they did matter. STR 84 DEX 24 CUN 22
Battleaxe + 5 % crit/backstab Gloves + 15 % crit/backstab Plate + 15 % crit/backstab
Do not know how "backstab" can help in this solo-PT-case though. ------ Anyway, spiders ahead.

Sunder Arms and Sunder Armor.Sunder Arms always gives crits (the WIKI description confirms it). They should be normal attack rolls, and can be normal or crits as far as I remember. Rate depending on your crit chance. Attributes don't directly increase critical chance in DAO. They can only if you have some talent that causes bonus crit from an attribute. Like Song of Courage on a Bard. Warriors do have Bravery passive though, which can be a good bonus to crit chance depending on how many near enemies there are, and Precise Striking can be a sizeable bonus once you get enough levels.

They should be normal attack rolls, and can be normal or crits as far as I remember. Rate depending on your crit chance. So the description is wrong afterall and both of these talents can give crits. Ok. I understand. You explained about crit chance mostly and what influences crit itself from warrior tree as well. What can't understand why this 2h warrior with Battleaxe has crits left and right, just all over the place. Most of my GWs were 2h warriors (only using Greatswords and Mauls) and they were far from this 2h BA warrior in terms of crits. Just simple damage. And the second thing, if you know, capn233, armor itself: have crit armor parts (not chance). Do those parts improve crits? Theory is theory, but have mentioned already ecnounter with the Revenant where changing armor lowered crits, switched back to WCP with crit stats and crits became higher again. It was in practice, but maybe just some coincidence.

I don't know why that would be. Battleaxe should be about 2% more crit chance before enchantments.
As for gear, I don't know about whether some had hidden bonuses. For the most part, the calculation is convoluted enough it is hard to say when a bonus is applied or not.

Yeah, mystery for the ages. As usual. -------------- HNO-Battleaxe-no-pot-solo-PT
Ortan Thaig
Asunder: two attempts (simple melee first). Used one swift salve and fire resist. Resisted crushing prison which is very nice and very rare to happen. Mostly got melee attacks, but had to run a bit because of that and never got any spell from a distance. In the end ran to Ruck's hiding place too tight for the demon so he just started walking to the far corner which I use to fight spider ambush after Ruck scene. Still, simple it was.
Spider Queen - died 4-5 times - used 3 lesser nature resists - FA talent from the Reaver tree helped a lot with her as she resisted PS 50/50 but never FA
The Dead Trenches
Died once from crushing prison + spiders. The rest was easy.
Broodmother: - million deaths - nature resist was 75 % - used 3 greater nature resists - changed WCP for the Diligence Plate and that helped a lot withr health regen - used fire arrows - a bow (with nature resist) and BA when possible - after millon deaths was tired and started to spend my bomb supply which was rather huge (saved them for golems with Branka, just in case) - anyway: not satisfied, one of my worst encounters with this enemy
-- Visited camp to rearrange things, take ingredients (mod to keep things in the camp) so Zevran and Morrigan could supply me with more bombs and swift salve.
Had gold to buy things though it was either Evon's Plate or "better armor". Did not want to run around the map just to buy the Plate. Went with what I had (I have bombs!) --
Branka - 5 deaths - used armor of diligence (helped during making circles, not face-to-face situations) - swift salve - bombs - fucking Branka resisted FA all the time but THS did not work only once. WTH?!?
Got the dwarven army and level 19 -- lvl 19 + 3 str Destroyer --
Turned in the rest tasks in Orzammar.
Camp
Zevran/Morrigan made swift salve + bombs + poisons.
Also bought T7 (Dragonbone) Battleaxe with common name Dal'Thannan - dmg 16.00 - crit chance 4.8 % - AP 6.00 + 3 rune slots Used +5 % fire/+4 % electro/+8 % spell resist
For "Faith's Edge" used + 6 % SR/+5 % electro
And with this new BA went after Cadash Stompers.
What wanted to mention with Cadash Thaig enemies: all the time switched these two BAs. Faith's Edge had higher crits (about 140-150), Dal'Thannan had only 1-2 such high numbers, the rest was about 115. Usual damage was the same with both BAs.
As for armor: WCP + dodge boots + legion of the dead gloves (+4 attack) + honnleath helmet. ----------- Will continue with these two Battleaxes switching them all the time as can't understand what is better (depends on enemy types of course thus "quick switching"). ---------- Next: Denerim first to get armor.
Do not know about Flemeth though: it is nothing but usual BA waving and hoping not to get fire spit spam. Some encounters still want to check.
