Can DA4 even compete in today's quality of games?

That’s what my current “Honey Tongue” calls her room... I’m sure Sera rolls her eyes but this Inquisitor is just always hungry.

Trying to compete to be one of the Biggest Things In Gaming was I think at least half of the problem with DA:I right there. BioWare's strength has traditionally been in tightly plotted single-player RPGs, and trying to mix in all the open-world and multiplayer and crafting and action elements certainly seems to have caused most if not all of the problems I see with the game. If that's the plan again for DA4, yeah, it's probably doomed; there's likely to be something glitzier and showier out there that will garner more attention.

But as far as actually competing goes, if DA4 instead goes back to carving out a niche for itself by being another strong single-player RPG (as unlikely as that may seem now), I think it has a real shot at competing. There's a lot less competition in that specific arena, and it could easily end up being the best of the year or even several years.

So I think DA4 definitely can compete... if the focus is right.
