Dragon Age: Blue Wraithcomicbook.com/gaming/2019/09/27/new-dragon-age-comic-blue-wraith-fenris-dark-horse/ Here's how Dark Horse Comics describes the new three-issue comic: "Dragon Age: Blue Wraith starts off with the fanatical Qunari seeking to topple the Tevinter mageocracy. Caught in the middle, one powerful young mage’s desperate search for her father brings her face-to-face with a notorious mage hunter—Fenris, the Blue Wraith." The exact creative team for Dragon Age: Blue Wraith includes writers Nunzio DeFilippis (Dragon Age: Knight Errant, New X-Men) and Christina Weir (Dragon Age: Deception, New X-Men), artist Fernando Heinz Furukawa (Dragon Age: Knight Errant, God Is Dead), and colorist Michael Atiyeh (The Orville: New Beginnings, Halo: Escalation), with covers done by Sachin Teng. In general, these names should be familiar to anyone that's been following along with the most recent set Dragon Age comics. Dragon Age: Blue Wraith #1 is set to release on January 15, 2020 with the following two issues releasing after that.

I wonder if the powerful young mage they are talking about is Francesca from the Deception series. She is with the comic group now, and her father was mentioned as being involved with the Venatori which I can see Fenris hunting down.

I wonder if the powerful young mage they are talking about is Francesca from the Deception series. I also seem to recall that at the end of Deception they were heading for Castel Tenebris, which was the family seat of Denarius, so there is a very strong reason for Fenris to be there anyway hunting down the relatives of his former master and probably trying to destroy any research that he had done. Also Deception ended with the Qunari invasion of Tevinter. Was Francesca searching for her father though? Regardless, having Fenris involved in the action might actually make me buy the comic. I wonder if this might include bits of the story about Fenris that DG was allegedly writing before he left Bioware.

Also Deception ended with the Qunari invasion of Tevinter. Was Francesca searching for her father though? She never says she is, but considering during the events of Deception her brother was murdered and her home conquered and burned by the Qunari, she talks about how she has nothing so it makes sense that she would want to find what little family she has left.

Am I the only one who is not really thrilled with seeing Fenris bisected on the cover? I don't really want to see him get killed off in a comic.

The covers are always artistic like that. Besides the fact that the writers like Fenris, I believe they said they aren’t really able to mess with big characters in that way or something like that.

I wonder if mage hunter Fenris has ever crossed paths with magekiller Marius. Glad Nunzio and Weir are back as writers on the creative team of another comic, it was really cool last time when he/they came onto the forum and answered questions/clarified some things/even gave us some new or additional bits of information. maybe they will again this time 🙏 Fenris' appearance and outfit on the cover remind me of the Fenris art in World of Thedas Vol 2. It's almost like he's evolved Pokemon style from Lyrium Ghost into Blue Wraith really hope he survives the storyline of the comic. am also really interested in the ongoing storybeats and backdrop/context setup for the setting of DA4. feels like setting the table before a meal Here's the tweets from Gaider from back when, when he mentioned about writing Fenris again for a book that never seemed to come to be, in case anyone didn't see them or couldn't find them again. This comic will help pass the time until the Tevinter Nights anthology!

That seals it. Fenris definitely will be in DA4. I wouldn't go that far... Possibly in a cameo, but since Fenris is "quantum" (and can die in DA2), this reduces his chances of making an appearance.

Yes, they had said they wouldn't use characters in game in the future who could possibly have died in a previous one, which is why it is all the more exciting that they are using Fenris in the comic as it is likely the only real chance we will get to see him again.

We picked the name to evoke the Lyrium Ghost powerset, but make it something the mages and slavers of Tevinter whisper in terror... Always happy to answer what I can. How did you and Weir go about writing a character originally created by someone else? Did you contact David Gaider for more info on Fenris?

Christina and I wrote Fenris based off of our knowledge of the character via the games, and via discussions with the Bioware team about where he was now, what he was up to. We came up with a take on how the years have treated him, and ran it by the Bioware team, and they signed off. We did not contact David Gaider.

If he were someone I had more contact with, we likely would have reached out. We have conversations about Greg Rucka regarding the use of Tessa and Marius, for example. But in this case, we went with the Bioware team's feedback. And not to worry, I didn't take it as assuming we needed to do it. I took it as you said, as a question about process.
