I'm looking forward to seeing how the writers and artists interpreted Fenris' unique abilities since Dragon age 2 was relatively ambiguous regarding just what advantages he had over mages. I always assumed that his tattoos enabled him to close in with a caster by either making him intangible or invulnerable to magic for just long enough to deliver a killing blow.

If something happens to Autumn... I swear to Mythal...! I simply love how her cute face makes those expressions! Cudos to our Fernando. I suppose it's him who draws her

Just finished reading Issue 2. I loved the interactions between Vaea and Francesca with Fenris, both with the serious moments as well as the lighthearted ones. And of course the panel with him and Autumn. It is kind of sad to see how he feels about the DA2 gang. I did like the conversation that led to with Vaea and Francesca, with Francesca agreeing with him thinking Vaea is only helping her to get her to join them which Vaea quickly shoots down bringing up her experience with Aaron, even if it is a bit bumpy right now. You can also definitely see Vaea's development into a leader through scenes like that as well as her proposing a plan to enter their location through stealth instead of combat. It was a sweet moment when even Fenris says that Francesca is not a typical Tevinter mage. On a side note, it's going to be very easy to choose who to support in the next game between Tevinter and the Qun if all of them are going to be doing what the ones in here did. So much for not killing unnecessarily since I see no reason why they executed all the slaves. Lastly, very interesting what happens when the sarcophagus is used on a human instead of an elf.

Honestly... not a fan of the art. In some panels, the characters look rather goofy and ugly.
But the story is entertaining and the characters are good, so it is worth the read.

Low key, there’s a new Viddasala, though not for long if Fenris has anything to say about it.
Issue #2 is pretty good, the fights Fenris is involved in are very well drawn with plenty of kinetic energy to them. Not sure I liked how he characterized his Kirkwall friends, but Fenris is largely just the right amount of anger, sullenness and awkwardness. Also, did that lyrium infused human explode?

Quite a lot of stuff happening in this issue! Definitely felt very “full,” so to speak. I enjoyed it quite a bit, though it was a bit jarring to see Fenris acting more jovial. Of course, he does have that "All your friends will leave you" speech.
Fenris, buddy, you still got friends. We had to separate out of necessity, not choice. Come back to Kirkwall. Also, did that lyrium infused human explode? Well, that’s what it does. Probably used a wee bit too much lyrium, though. They’re supposed to give the subject tattoos, not turn the whole guy blue.

Definitely enjoyed this issue, though there's gonna be a lot to wrap up in the next one (curse the 3 issue format!). I love the energy in the combat scenes, and the characters all felt on-point. And yeah, I have a feeling another vacancy in the Viddasalla post should be open soon. While it was sad to hear Fenris had somewhat soured on Kirkwall gang post DA2, you could... understand where he was coming from. It's also fun to watch Vaea grow over the series. It feels like she's the only grown-up in the room now. I keep getting Tessa and Vaea mixed up. I can only tell them apart by checking the ears. Okay, so this wasn't just me then. That'd be my only quibble with the art. And while I only had a chance to quickly look through it this morning, I thought the slave they put in lyrium coffin looked a lot like Calix.

It’s actually the unnamed hooded dude from Issue 1, the one who jumped on Marquette’s wagon during the chase and chatted with Marquette for a few panels about how he worked first for House Qintara and then House Danarius. You can tell from the distinctive metal ... greaves? Is that the word for the things on his legs? I think so, but nobody jump down my throat if I’m wrong. I keep getting Tessa and Vaea mixed up. I can only tell them apart by checking the ears. I agree. The problem should be corrected by having Tessa killed by the explosion and then eaten by, uh, bears. It will give Marius an opportunity to continue not displaying any emotion like the walking mannequin that he is.

I thought "Huh. They already got caught... oh, wait. Different guy." Anyway, my prediction is that Shirallas will become a red lyrium version of Fenris and they will have a dramatic duel.

I didn’t think I’d be in the minority on that, but I could easily tell the differences between the characters. Tessa and Vaea have different eye color, different outfits with different color schemes, etc.

For me it was a few panels with Tessa mostly showing her upper body that had me look twice. Her and Vaea have almost the same hair, eye and skin coloring, similar hair styles too.

Why did Marquette say that they have no elf there to test the weapon on when Shirallas is right there? Even if Nenealeus doesn't want to waste him on non-red Lyrium, Marquette doesn't know that, he should have at least suggested using Shirallas.

Since this was about testing the sarcophagus without Red Lyrium, it precluded using Shirallas.

In essence, Cedric is saying, “We have no SPARE elves here.” And Greaves Boy clearly got shoved in the sarcophagus instead of the other humans because he was the approximate height and body type as an elf. Talk about drawing the short straw.

As with everything we write, those lines were both me and Christina. We will write the material together whenever possible. If we're overworked and need to move quickly, we may have one person do the first pass, and another take a second pass. But those lines were really written by us both. It's been fun to write Fenris. We hear Gideon Emery's voice with every line we write.

Is new Vidasala female..? I couldn't tell 1. That vidasala looked male, judging from the horns and the body build. It would be odd if the new Vidasala was male as roles in Qunari society are almost always gender specific. Therefore, since the last Vidasala was female it would follow that the next one would be as well. So either this is a case of a female with more of a male physique or may be the artist wasn't given a specific gender to follow so used a generic Qunari form that tends towards a more masculine appearance. (It is also possible that the Bioware team have decided to revise the lore on this - not for the first time)
