I have a question concerning this tweet. How likely is it that a game like DA would appear so much in advance in EA's earning report? That was also touched on briefly during the conference call... "We typically don't give multiyear guidance this early in the year, I don't want to start giving '23 guidance now that I've started a hint on '22. But you should assume it's out there and plans are underway." Seeing as they've only just started hinting at FY 2022 then, I wouldn't despair just yet. The game will take the time it takes to finish, of course, but nothing I've heard until now makes it a certainty that it won't be released until fall 2022. Or maybe I'm just being too optimistic lol.

After reading this thread I give up. I see the claims that we need more info then negativity because of the teaser and then both the positive and negative remarks towards the 2022 date especially after all the people saying give developers more time especially to avoid crunch over the last year or so.
As far as the potential release date itself that is fine, no real opinion.

I feel like I'm one of the few who doesn't mind the wait. 2022 may be a few years in the future, but I still have a lot games to catch up on. Just started FF14 for example and getting Pokemon Sword soon. And I haven't even touched the latest story DLC of ESO yet. Not to forget Pathfinder: Kingmaker and Monster Hunter World: Iceborne... In short:

well, they started development this month, so 2.5-3 years of development. add that to the 2 years of pre-development. both makes sense and sounds promising. i will wait as long as needed and i am confident bioware will give us the dragon age game we and the franchise deserve. Wait...did they say somewhere that the game has moved out of pre-production and into full production?

Let's just hope that unlike Andromeda and Anthem, the dev team doesn't have to deal with another case of 2-2.5 years of back-and-forth mismanagement (often seemingly from above), then have to rush to complete the game in only six months before the deadline.

If they're not releasing the in the first quarter of the calendar year, then it's a pretty safe bet it'll be in the fall. Those are traditionally BW's 2 release windows. My guess would be November as they tend to release a lot games then.

I've been impatient since 2015, so...yeah, this isn't helping. And yeah, I know it's not realistic to expect them to shift focus from things that I personally don't care about (looking at you, Anthem) but still....

A lot of people are feeling discouraged from this news, but I'm personally happy to hear, as I was afraid that they'd be rushing the game to release earlier than I'd have liked, given the reboot - I certainly didn't want to see it release in late 2020, given the circumstances. While I would've preferred Holiday 2021 or Winter 2022, this still gives Bioware a fair amount of time to work on the game. As far as project management goes, I think Darrah can be, at the very least, trusted to keep DA4 from going down the Andromeda/Anthem path of spending too much time stuck developing the general gameplay mechanics and leaving the story development to languish. Plus, from a personal perspective, I've managed to find plenty of things to tide me over until DA4 releases: Warframe, Doom Eternal, Cyberpunk, Outer Worlds, the imminent, yet to be announced Batman game... and that's just on the gaming side of things. So... I guess I can say I'm happy to have a more defined idea of a timeframe for DA4's release, and now I don't have to agonize over speculating. Just over the waiting in general

I wish they would remaster DAO and DAI in the interim. Given the gap between DAI and DA4, it is the least they could do ...😰😟

More time to crystallize their vision and execute...
More time for collaboration and recruiting talent...
Less crunch (hopefully)
Not seeing how a 2022 release is a bad thing by any stretch.

No game is worth waiting that long for. More Dev time means nothing on its own. It can be good but it can also mean a lack of direction, changing minds, changing priorities, and other problems. Don't be surprised if the game releases and you see all kinds of "they took 8 years to make THIS?" responses. That’d certainly happen, and they’d be right if it’d be actually 8 years of development on the same project, but they didn’t. I do think that the perception on it will be based on how it’d look and play, considering the last games...but it’d still generate hype, if the last teaser was any indication. In terms of news, the earliest date in my mind would be the Game Awards in 2020, but even that is too optmistic, if the game would come out in fall 2022. Given the rest of informations EA released, I’m pretty sure there’ll be a remaster if either ME or DAO, which might help in keeping somehow the attention on BioWare.

One year and one delay too soon, from what I expect it. By current Bioware standards that puts them ... Anthem with Cataclysm status on release. I won't hold my breath on a MET remaster. *cough METliveserviceremake cough* Sorry, gotta be careful with that voice to text thing. My bad.

A bit. They got plenty of time. That's one of the requirements for something great. According to that logic Anthem should have been the best Bioware game ever. Long development time can be the result of - or can lead to indecisiveness, infighting, procrastination, issues with the engine, bad planning or plain old lack of inspiration. IMO development time is no indicator of quality whatsoever - unless we're talking about rushing hard. A long development time is probably better than rushing, but that's about it.
LITERALLY REREAD WHAT I SAID...
...but yeah, we don't speak of Anthem in polite company.
What I meant is, if they get plenty of time, the risk of a rushed production decreases. Thus the chances for decent quality rise.

I wish they would remaster DAO and DAI in the interim. Given the gap between DAI and DA4, it is the least they could do ...😰😟 From what I've heard in the past, a number of BW devs have expressed... let's call it 'great reluctance'... to work on remasters. Preferring to go forwards with new games than rehashing old ones. That doesn't mean they wouldn't push ahead with remaster(s) anyway if a decision was made from upstairs. So... it could happen, but I wouldn't expect it. With ME, I'm starting to wonder if they might just reboot the entire franchise and go all-in on a next-gen remake without the baggage. Also, I'm not sure BW currently has the resources to work on remasters on top of the other games on their plate.

And yeah, I know it's not realistic to expect them to shift focus from things that I personally don't care about (looking at you, Anthem) but still.... The 2022 target doesn't have much to do with Anthem having the focus, as every time devs were moved to another game from DA, the DA project was rebooted instead of just progressing at a slower pace. There will be a 8 years gap between DAI and the next DA game, because BioWare upper management has been a mess for like a decade. edit: About remasters, these things can be sub-contracted...

I will be honest here...
I'm not sure if I care anymore. Probably not.
I mean - For me personally the news that they dropped the development to start rewriting the whole thing as a "Game As Service" model game was like a slap in the face. Then the more damaging news that they going to use the Anthem core stuff and assets for the game was like a punch in the stomach. Now the only thing they have to do to finish off the game completely, is turn the game into a multiplayer, always on line piece of garbage. If they do that then for me the game is officially dead. It will be an "Anthem Age" or "Anthem with Dragons" that has completely lost my interest.
Yeah - I get why some people here are still clinging to some shreds of hope, and don't want others to be too negative, but honestly. Seeing the AAA game development environment and industry now, and all that monetization stuff that is happening with the big publishers, can you blame me? I have made some predictions the AAA game development was heading, and even I thought it was a bit too negative. But here we are. In only a few years things have even surpassed my darkest predictions. And I have the feeling that bad things are only just starting. My last hope are the indie and AA developers (and guy's like Obsidian, CDPR, Nihom Falcom, Larian Studio's and so on). I think AAA studio's/developers are a lost cause...
Just my two cents (for what they are worth now).

I have a bad feeling we are gonna get a duke nukem two situation where it had lots of development time and sucked.I wish we would get it sooner. I am curious about those remaster. And finally I don't know if I am ready to believe it will be that long or if this source is definetly reliable. At least now I won't have to keep looking for news on DA4 every day.
