I've liked Hellblade - Senua's Sacrifice first game very much so this is great news!

I didn't very far into the first one due to stupid combat that pissed me off too badly. Shame, 'cause it is a story I'd really like to experience. The trailer for the second one looks equally creepy.

I like how this trailer was so dark and intense it left the audience at the game awards mostly silent, lol. Not a good choice to follow a bunch of Switch announcements.

The combat in the first one was a SS, but the story and visuals made up for it imo. Whether I play the second one will depend on how it plays on PC. I don't have an Xbox nor do I want one so that will be the deciding factor for me.

Unforunately, I found it so difficult - due to combat and other mechanics - that I couldn't finish the game, which was a shame since I loved the story and the atmosphere.

It's been a while but there are quite a few combos you can do and they aren't really told to players. There's like running attack I found out late, it does real hefty damage. There is a long bridge fairly close to the end where I was : OK let's practice that here and failed a couple of times. The game is coded so you fails are counted and then the enemies get reduced. They have some smoke and mirrors to manipulate players and difficulty. Notching down the enemies didn't do jack shit to practice that attack but is was pretty easy then.
Not a fan of bossfights usually, but I kinda dealt with all of them on my own - and that comes from someone who couldn't figure out the Witcher 2 tentacle monster and failed against the assassin. Senua takes some hidden steps to not make you fail - they have a story to tell.

Yeah, I found that out later. The thing is, I have very little patience with having to repeat action sequences. The first indication that this game had some dislikable mechanics was the task of getting out of the fire. I succeeded in the third attempt, but each time I have to repeat an action sequence it saps my motivation. I recognize that situations exist - such as this one - where forcing you into a hurry is appropriate, but I rather prefer that the game gives me the means - and the time - to figure things out before I act and tweak the situation so that's plausible. That doubly applies to combat. I'll take a challenge if it concerns tactics, applying skills and equipment in non-obvious ways and thinkings things through. If it concerns speed and hand-eye coordination, I tend to avoid it, cheat after the second attempt or simply abandon it.
A nice counter-example is Prey, which I'm playing atm. I can't believe I passed this gem by, but I guess it sounded too action-y when it came out. You do have to do a lot of whacking stuff with a wrench, but most of the time there are situational ways to get rid of the more difficult enemies without having to engage them. In fact, often you can just avoid them altogether and still achieve your goal, and I only get rid of them so I don't have to be as careful when revisiting the area.
As for TW2, well, I did figure out how to fight the Kayran, but I had problems actually doing it.
In any case, maybe I'll revisit Hellblade, and I'll definitely check out the successor, but for now there are enough other games to play.

The worst is when I have no clue what to do. I easily miss cues like weakspots or screen popups. I had to read how to do the last fight in Bioshock Infinite. I had no idea that I would have to shoot down Zeppelins - instead I fought a never ending wave of enemies.

Working with Epic? Goddamnit... Still, I'm looking forward to a Steam release eventually. First game was quite the experience. Not exactly fun but a unique sort of torture.

My fav part is the Fenrir sequence. The colors, shapes, and sounds was so tense as he's chasing you. Then all that tension melts when it reveals to be her father... Fear recedes to anger. That mutt didn't stand a chance. Solas, you better behave or you're next, my good puppy.
