Well, interesting. I will hold back on my enthusiasm until we actually see something tangible though. We've had quite a few studios pop up, with people trying to capture the glory days of their former big studios. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But sure, I'd be the last person to complain if we get a nice SciFi RPG out of this. They should really hire Chris L'Etoille though. THEN I'd get excited.

Going by James Ohlen last decisions at BioWare (he was the whole studio creative director after the Doctors left), everything he focused on after DAO was multiplayer lightweight RPGs.
Craig Robertson had a huge part to play in Anthem godawful launch. He was also the guy in charge at SWTOR when it was at its worst content support-wise. Jesse Sky was also part of SWTOR dark days. Drew move around a lots, he was at another studio by ex-BioWare that were working on mobile games not that long ago so don't expect him to stay long.
All and all, I don't expect much from that new studio.
Although, I do crave a new old!BioWare-style scifi game. I'm just not expecting them to do that.

I think just seeing former BioWare developers make a new studio isn't automatically going to be the game that the internet thinks it will be by being like BioWare games pre-EA. The one thing hat already has me concerned is that Wizards of the Coast already owns the studio going by the way I have read other articles so that is giving me pause. Part of that I think is the gaming landscape in general and not just the publisher or developer that is working on the content.
This might be like what happened with Mike Laidlaw since I was reading today that he is no longer at Ubisoft so it could be the best of intentions, but reality is going to hit them square on the chin.

I wonder if they will make a RPG Transformers video game? Since this company is owned by WotC and WotC is owned by Hasbro.

Interesting. Those who worked on MEA/Anthem I'm not so sure about. Then again, probably a better shot at a good spiritual successor to Mass Effect than an actual Mass Effect sequel made by EA/Bioware.
I'll keep on eye on it.

Drew K posted a bit about it on his blog. It doesn't really add anything new, although I found this except interesting about his time at BioWare. When I started at BioWare, everything was fresh and exciting. It was a dream job – talented people working together to create epic games like Baldur’s Gate, KOTOR, Mass Effect and Dragon Age. But as we grew and became more successful, things changed. We became more corporate. We were less able to make what we loved, and the teams were pushed to create games based on market research rather than our creative instincts and passions. My dream job became just a job, and I lost the enthusiasm and excitement I once had.drewkarpyshyn.com/c/?p=1089

That mobile studio he was a part of shut down due to Disney cutting their funding or something like that. I actually played his mobile game. It was pretty good. I hope this new studio can bring something on par with the ME trilogy.

My dream job became just a job, and I lost the enthusiasm and excitement I once had.drewkarpyshyn.com/c/?p=1089That is the problem with gaming in general and not just BioWare. Expectations from players go up which means more money needs to be invested in areas of the game which means sales need to go up which causes the games to become aimed at a more general audience. Its the same type of thing with crowdfunded games, there were a lot of people that had really high expectations of what they would be getting and walked away disappointed. I am hoping just because of the people associated with Archetype that expectations don't get too high and what they release doesn't become doomed because they used to work at "BioWare". I mentioned this before, but I think a lot of the freedom people are expecting Archetype to have isn't going to be there since they are not independent which I think is what is needed for a studio to be able to make a game that isn't mandated by market research and allows them to make it based on their passions. Because when you are making a big budget game you have to aim for a bigger audience.

I will be following this closely.
I have no faith in Bioware. They are wasting time and money on revamping Anthem. The shooter crowd have moved on and have forgotten the game. The core Bioware fanbase do not want Anthem 2.0. They want Dragon Age 4 and Mass Effect Next. When they finish this Anthem remake I question whether they will even be around to make those other games. Such a waste.

They just threw a very vague comment that they will rework something, without specifying any scope or time frame. I wouldn't be worried, they know that Anthem is long forgotten by the gaming community. The overall weak response to the blog (even from the Anthem fanbase) is a clear indication. The "revamp" can be a really minor cosmetic thing.

If Anthem was truly forgotten by the gaming community they wouldn't even bother to revamp it, so there must be some audience out there that is spending enough money to justify that people are financially invested in the game going forward for I doubt they think they would make any real money back from new game sales alone since the prime timeframe for selling new copies is long gone. Even Ubisoft has seen this with The Division 2 where they are currently selling it for 95% off retail hoping to get some new people somehow.

Right, but their current population at least from when I have played both games is worse then the population in Anthem. I have done the daily missions in Div2 and had the group finder on the entire time and not one person joined me and its different now due to having the latest episode released, but I expect the population to die down quick again. Ubisoft also has a major hurdle to overcome with some people with the upcoming expansion and it could be a deal breaker for some people to buy. From where I have seen it mentioned there are a lot of people that feel ripped off by how they handled the Year One Pass, especially those that they were trying hard to sell it to before the game's release. So there are a large number of people that are saying they aren't buying it at least at launch until they know they aren't going to feel cheated again.
