Additionally this could also mean future vaccinations would be highly ineffective. It depends on whether or not those who get COVID-19 a second time have developed antibodies from their first time being sickened by the virus. The speculation about these resurgence cases is that their symptoms were very mild the first time and their immune system didn't respond enough to produce antibodies so they remain vulnerable to the virus. It would be truly disturbing if someone with anti-body could still be severely affected by the virus, but there hasn't been any such reports as far as I know. Vaccines will mostly work, I think. Question is how long they can shield people from the virus. I doubt they can provide life-long immunity of the virus. But can they last a couple of years? Or only a few months?

I have read some reports that said that after the infection the antibody producing capabilities of the body vanishes unusually quick (in a matter 3-4 months) which has lead to several second-infections, other sources claim that scientists found hints that the virus ''goes dark'' after the infection but stays in the body just like Epstein Barr, HIV or Herpes. If its true that the body can only protect itself against the virus for only a couple of months the amount of vaccines that would need to be produced would be staggering, if the virus stays in the body waiting for opportunities to strike vaccines would not be effective. But lots of sources claiming different things, its hard to see through this confusion. The only thing I know right now is that a friend of mine got Covid19 a second time (if the test results haven't been botched of course ) after the first infection a couple months ago.

It's true all these different theories, observations, speculations are extra confusing in a time like this...partly due to the virus being novel and in many ways...more insidious than other deadly virus we've seen. I guess we just have to accept the fact that it takes time for the scientific community to conduct enough research to reach some exact conclusions. Can't do much about that other than...keep calm and wear a mask

Can't do much about that other than...keep calm and wear a mask Yeah that's true. I want to find out but I'm not planning on becoming a test subject myself. Speaking of masks, today I had to buy some essentials from 3 different places and despite having to wear masks again and the bad surge in new cases nobody cares anymore. I was the only one wearing a mask. I saw people standing in crowds yelling at each other and laughing etc. Well, this gonna be gud.

I was the only one wearing a mask. I saw people standing in crowds yelling at each other and laughing etc. Well, this gonna be gud. Well the other day I jogged past a house where about 30 plus people were having a party in the backyard...People were talking, eating and laughing in close proximity and of course no one wore a mask...I get it that summer whether is nice, people are tired of staying at home, being isolated is depressing yadda yadda yadda...But taking basic precautions like wearing a mask, keeping social activities at a minimal capacity is not only about protecting oneself, but also about being responsible for others' well-being. The virus is not gone, probably won't go away until effective vaccines are available. I wish more people would consider wearing a mask and such as more of personal responsibility to the community in a health crisis rather than an act of inconvenience.

Not to turn the thread political but there are certain - I'll call them "large gatherings" - in the U.S. happening over the past few months where the people gathered rarely wear masks for health reasons (if at all). Kind of makes citizens skeptical that masks are necessary if these "large gatherings" are exempted from compliance with the "masks are required" mandates.
People having a party in their backyard versus hundreds (or perhaps thousands) gathered in the streets, but the party on private property is what causes concern, while the hundreds gathered in the streets don't? This imo is why few people are listening to medical mandates about masks anymore.
(Not intending to call anyone out in the thread btw)

(Not intending to call anyone out in the thread btw) Health professionals and political leaders have been giving mixed messages about what is safe and what isn't. So yes, it isn't helping at all. Especially if they're trying to convince skeptical people in the first place. Any large gathering, whether people are wearing masks or not, should be called out as being risky. Any large gathering where many people aren't wearing masks should be called out as irresponsible. Making exceptions here is just a double standard.

Today I decided to skip visiting the shooting range for a couple months at least. Been there today, dozens of people standing around yelling each other in the face because they were wearing ear protection but wanted to chat. People of all age classes, from 20 to 80. The whole range was stuffed to the roof with people. I was the only person wearing a mask. Dozens of people approached me to chat with me social distancing be damned, I shooed them away, packed my gear and left after only an hour. If someones got Covid19 sure as hell everyone at this place contracts it. If people weren't so fucking irresponsible this world wouldn't be such a disaster. Guess for the next couple months I'm gonna have to find me a more pandemic-proven hobby.

More anxiety as the school year approaches. I hear a steady buzz of concern from the parents I know. This teacher has got it exactly right:

I'm jealous....I don't have anybody to go visit or to come visit me. Must be nice to have a significant other. Me neither, I'm basically a modern day hermit, even more so these days - interaction with people is absolutely minimal and to 90% limited to the internet, the rest is phone calls with some customers and people I see when grocery shopping. I don't feel lonely though, I only feel lonely and longing for company when I'm idle or when I'm bored. That can be avoided.

I mean, I can't be 75 and have kids that are 15....that would just be really awkward all around.

I was trying to touch on the existence of large gatherings (without delving into the political reasons for their current prominence) as a possible reason some people may not be following the covid-19 guidelines laid out by their state / provincial governments. I was in no way, shape, or form arguing that politics should influence health care mandates, but you took the opportunity to virtue-signal, so good for you I guess.
