I have been watching the Battlefront II "Game Movies" (including all the DLC right up to date) and the SP Story campaign looks like something I would really enjoy. Is it very long? They have it on Origin for about 12 or 15 dollars....and I am toying with the idea of purchasing it. I don't like PvP style MP-- so that is a huge drawback, but Im wondering if that is basically what the bulk of the game is.....
Thoughts? Advice? Comments are welcome to help me make an informed decision
Thanks

So I’ve been playing BF2 since launch. It’s always been a very fun game to play and the amount of content they’ve pumped into it is insane! The single player campaign itself is pretty short, and quite easy to complete as the AI in the campaign is as dumb as a bag of rocks. However they tweaked the AI for a couple of other game modes that makes them a genuinely scary threat! After playing through the campaign I recommend playing through a couple of matches of instant action against the ai so you can practice the different classes and get a general sense for how the game plays. You won’t be able to level up your classes however (which allows you to unlock new abilities or improve your current ones) After that I 100% recommend jumping into the new mode Co-op. It’s similar to Mass effects multiplayer in that it’s four players versus the ai and it is SOOOOO MUCH FUN! In this mode you can level up your dudes so it’s my go to mode now days! One thing to note on pc is the main pvp modes seems to have a few hackers ruining the fun at the moment. On the flip side you’ll have access to the pretty large selection of cosmetic mods the community have created (some of which look incredible! All in all it’s a fantastic and very fun game and is well worth the fifteen funbucks to play!

Thoughts? Advice? Comments are welcome to help me make an informed decision You can always buy an Origin Access Basic subsription for a month. That should be enough to play through singleplayer, which is relatively short anyway and see if multiplayer is right up your alley. And if you like it enough you will have a 10% discount to buy a game. If you dont like it there are enough of other games to try out that you would probably never buy otherwise but are pretty good. I did this when Anthem came out, tried out Anthem, Battlefront 2 and Titanfall 2, best gaming related purchase of 2019.

Hey, I found out it's kinda cheap right now and was wondering if there were any paid DLCs, since Origin doesn't show any.

Serza : Nope! Every update was added into the game for free. Character/trooper skins you can unlock via challenges or earning credits In game (and credits are earned at quite a quick rate) Plus, just before Christmas they released the celebration edition, which basically comes with every skin already unlocked. @unicephalon: Oh yes! And it’s crazy fun to play too! The ai seems extra merciless after today’s update - I wish my teammates would co ordinate on objectives half as well as the bots! Edit: Turns out today’s update was the last content update. I expect there’ll be a couple of bug fixing patches, but content wise it’s now complete. After it’s pretty disastrous launch, it’s amazing to see how much work the devs have put in to turn it around. The community is growing all the time and with new players jumping in every day, I’d definitely say give it a chance.

The campaign is short, but now there is a good bit of content in Instant Action (single player Objective based or Last Man Standing scenarios). There is also Co-Op, which is up to 4 players against the AI. The game does a pretty good job of recreating the feel of a huge Star Wars battle. You can potentially spend a lot of time in Co-Op as it's pretty fun and now has quite a bit of maps to fight on.
The PvP content offers lots of options, but currently "Supremacy" is the most populated with "Heroes vs Villains" and "Galactic Assault" a bit behind.
I would recommend trying Ewok Hunt at some point. It's a bit different scenario, still PvP, but with somewhat horror and Predator vibe to it. A player spawns as Ewok with night vision and hunts the other players who are Stormtroopers with limited flashlights in the night forest of Endor. Every slain Stormtrooper respawns as another Ewok and helps the hunt. You don't level abilities or anything in that mode, it's just pure fun of the hunt.
The Starfighter mode is great, but unfortunately is in almost the same state as it was on launch. It can be frustrating to play for a new player, but is worth to check if only for the visuals on the maps.
There are a bunch of other modes, but they all are PvP based and just on a smaller scale.
Overall BF2 is a good experience, but could have been so much better if it had more variety in gameplay, like starfighters on more maps and in more modes, more heroes, more weapons, more single player options, etc.

I always wanted the new BF2 to incorporate co-op battles against AI like in the original. What are the available modes? The modes/maps in BF1 were pretty sparse.

I always wanted the new BF2 to incorporate co-op battles against AI like in the original. What are the available modes? The modes/maps in BF1 were pretty sparse. Co-op is in the game for, dunno, 6 months or more. It's what brought me back and it's almost all that I play.
It offers maps and units/heroes from the 3 movie eras (Prequel, Original, Sequel). Each era has about 6+ unique maps (as in - they don't repeat in other eras). You can play as Light side or Dark side and use the era relevant units, vehicles and heroes. Some heroes are available in different eras as they exist there too (like Chewie or Yoda). The mode is based around one side attacking and the other defending. The goal for the attackers is to capture an Objective node in a set amount of time, then move to the next Round and capture the next node. Each Round makes the nodes harder to capture and easier to defend. In the first Round it's usually 3 available nodes (you just need to capture one) until the last Round where it's just one node and a huge clusterfuck of a fight on it. The goal for the defenders is to keep the nodes safe until the timer runs out. The attack/defend is based on which map the action is. For example - on Endor the Rebels attack and the Empire defends, while on Hoth it's the opposite.

Alright...
So I went for it...
And how the fuck do I disable controller input? It INSISTS to the point KB/M won't even respond. And unplugging the HOTAS I use frequently to the point of almost daily for a significant portion of my stay on the computer - and which is, due to this, permanently plugged in in a hard-to-reach pair of USB ports - is kind of not an option I'm willing to consider.

No idea, I have no issue at all even with a controller plugged in.
I vaguely recall someone saying that programs like Teamviewer or Discord interfere with the BF2's USB drivers.

I shut off Discord and waited for the game to finish downloading instead of the Origin play early thing. It's kinda fun, TBH.

Battlefront II is really solid. About the only game I've played the multiplayer for consistently over the last few years, and I'd recommend giving it a shot even if it doesn't appeal to you. There's a great variety to the modes.
