I finished the main story today, though I still have to hunt down the rest of the zealots and go after the Father, plus do the rest of the animus anomalies... ...assuming I can even do them anymore with Layla gone. I think Ubisoft is still having issues with endgame pacing. It wasn't nearly as abrupt or jarring to me as Odyssey's ending was, but it still feels incomplete. Like, I keep thinking I should get a closing scene with certain characters. I have... ...done Gunnar's wedding, but I still have one more village upgrade to do, which I need to hunt down supplies for. So maybe something else is coming. Plus, I assume/hope that killing the Father will lead to some sort of satisfying ending scene. I have never felt more protective over a pile of virtual bones. Pretty big spoiler in the screenshot here. Also, pretty pissed that Alethia was just screwing with Kassandra all those years. The good ending, I think. Sigurd convinced Eivor she ought to be jarl, and he seems pretty at peace with the decision. If only this were true Is this how assassins bob for apples? Is this helpful? The splashing was cute, though. Victory! I thought it was odd that at the celebration at the end... ...not only does the game try to get you to be with Randvi again (even though Eivor already outright refused), but Eivor's actual LI (the baker in my case) couldn't be interacted with at Gunnar's wedding at all. It's disappointing that aside from the repeatable romance scenes, there seems to be nothing new there at the end of the game, unless something unlocks after Ravensthorpe is completely upgraded. I need another 300 supplies to upgrade Ravensthorpe the rest of the way. I'll try to gather that tomorrow. I've done all the monastery raids, so unfortunately it's going to be smaller loot chests that I need to look for.

Yep, that is the AC writers' signature; failing to add the dessert in a meal.

Well, I've given up on the animus anomalies. The Suthsexe one is either bugged or I'm not good enough to do it, but either way it isn't worth it. I looked up the ending on YouTube. I think it's interesting that... ...Eivor clearly saw the Isu events through her own Norse lens. It's a nice touch. I would guess, then, that it was the same for Kassandra in her simulation: Aletheia presented it to her through a cultural lens she was familiar with. If you do any anomalies after the endgame, you get at least two extra lines (spoilery screenshots within): Here is the part of the Suthsexe anomaly I can't get past. When I slide down, I can't seem to steer, no matter what I do. It wasn't a problem on the first slide section. (Spoilery screenshot again.)

You don't have much range of motion going down, you have to time it right, but you are supposed to steer your way down between the red zones.

Or maybe it's just my own reaction in getting Layla to turn since it feels sluggish.

Yeah, I was able to enter the slide just fine through the top-most hazards, but then he just goes down in a straight line no matter how I steer. Yeah, then you've unfortunately run into a bug. I tried the keys too The first slide wasn't a problem, but I tried that section quite a few times and he just slides down in a straight line. I'd like to say I'll try the anomaly again later (since Layla's inability to jump up always randomly fixed itself eventually, so maybe this will too), but I doubt I'll bother. I still have 4 or 5 zealots to find before I can face the Father, the Beowulf quest to do, and Norway to explore. I'd much rather fill my time that way, and then move on to Cyberpunk until the Valhalla DLC come out.

I spent several hours today roaming Norway and England. Do any zealots pop up in Norway? I haven't seen one in England for a while. I figured if I roamed around enough on the horse chasing blue and white glowing dots, they were bound to reveal themselves, but no. I assume I need them in order to find the Father? I don't see any other obvious way to get to him. The last thing Hytham said to me (other than spoilery stuff), was something about having more targets to uncover.

Oh yay! I thought they were random, so I didn't even think to look for a guide like this I don't mind having to kill them all since I have so few left anyway, I was just bummed because I thought I had to get lucky finding one or wait for one to start tracking me like in Odyssey. I've always tended to find them after doing something violent, so I assumed it was the same type of situation

So perhapsironically I am going to talk about ACOD in my first entry on ACV. Because well I got a new TV a couple of weeks ago and since then Odyssey has been suuuuppppppppppeeeerr dark during the night scenes almost so much so that Kass and the other characters have been entirely invisible and its just been weird so what I am about to say might not even fully fix it in a super ironic way Ugh. Anyways settig up the brightness for Vahalla and I was like 'well if I do not like it I can change it later' and sure enough starting the game and, spoiler alert first scene is at night, so it was suppper dark so I went into the options..and ended up turning the brightness to max and it worked...I can the night quite well again! Maybe I should have done it with Odyssey because it has made the last couple of weeks a bit...annoying and unimmersive. But in my defense the bright daylight scenes was almost scorching of my retines which is why I have not turned it up out of fear, and that problem has not happened in Vahalla yet so maybe I have wasted my time relaying this story *shrug*. Also me playing on just explorer mode last about five minutes. Granted again this is something that I could be having issues with. I was thinking that Explorer mode might have blocked out objective markers when maybe it didn't so I went down to Adventurer...and I have not bothered to change it back so we will see. But you know me and wanting to find things. So non spoilery thoughts: The leveling system in this game has given me some surprise constrnation. On the one hand I was prepared to gush about it and how it gives you two points to spend so you do not have to basically choose you get some flexibility...and that is super neat factor don't get me wrong...but then on the flip side I am bit surprised at the lack of freedom in it and how its basically very...linear. Which isn't much of a levelling 'system' and certainly a lot weaker then Odyssey's system which was wonderfully freeform. Keep in mind i am just talking about the skills here. But I wanted to get some headshot damage because I thought it would connect, it looks like it ould connect, but it does not. Oh well at least its not a gear score. Another thing so far about this game too is I was actually prepared to comment on how well the game is 'directed' because the prologue is actually very well directed, lots of good angles, lots of good moments, and the facial animations seemed on point. But a couple of the cutscenes since have looked a little wooden i presentation. Still early though and this might be something which will become more unnoticable, as it usually does, I just thought Odyssey did a terrific job in this regard. On the bright side though I am really digging Fem Eivor so far, not quite used to her as the...already many hours I have pumped into Kassandra...but I do like her low husky voice and she does have a similar sass to her as Kass does. Oh and since I am on the subject I do really like the cinematic camera when you are on the rivers is quite amazing in its own right and i like it how it even goes into the ship to see Eivor talking with her crew...I just wish I could have the cake and eat it to because it cuts off the compass and really any effects so when you are in it you do not know if you are passing something interesting. The combat though is surprising how different the combat feels from Odyseey. I have not had much of a chance to dual wield weapons yet other than my shield so I do not know how hinky that is...but on the one hand its a lot less fluid feeling then Odyssey's, and I like it when characters are super fluid even if it is unrealistic and Kassandra was the most nimble woman in gaming. The heavy attacks for instance actually seem like they take a couple of minutes to charge. But yet the nice thing is I feel like i am actually using the heavy attack more. Again since I like being nimble I do like using light attacks more in games which differentiate between heavy and light melee attacks (Odyssey, Witcher, Greedfall), and Vahalla probably isn't going to be much of an exception but I am actually using heavy attacks a lot more so far because it breaks through shields and there is a nice hint and run style with this games combat where you dodge and that gives you an opening to land a free attack basically so why not use a heavy one? Also with the breaking down defenses easier. Also like it there is no friendly fire...actually huge improvement on Odyssey from this one. And ditto goes for the parry though that could just be because the game was tutorializing versus the game's first boss but I was using my shield a lot. Which I also got my first little glitch because for awhile I did not have my shield show up even when I was equipped so Eivor was blocking with her bare arms. So this is the part where I actually try and do these spoiler things right and see if I can practice a bit for future games...mainly when DA comes around...and this game is obviously not a year old yet. The Prologue:So as I noted above this quest actually had some amazing direction. Only weird bit was when the Vikings broke into random song just random singing in Ubisoft games...seems to be weird. But other then that the prologue was quite amazing. Actually second weird thing granted this could be me projecting or me stepping on a landmine even but its super weird how we don't get to chose our gender immedietly and we are playing what I am like 99.9% sure is a boy. *eyebrow arch* But yes other than that I really liked it. Kotjvae was properly evil which is meh but good way to set up you hating your initial boss badguy of your first arc. But what was really good is the 'mom/wife' her voice acting was amazing here as her husband was being killed. We just met this character probably two minutes ago and had basically one conversation with her/ them and just the pure torture in her voice as she is begging her husband to pick up his weapon and fight...and also dies herself...and then the bastard murders everyone...and then we flee. I was legitimately tearing up a little. Amazing voice acting from whoever that was and well we probably hear her again knowing games but to waste that talent only on maybe half a dozen lines. Also I really did like the Layla bit that we got there the bit with the wolf attack, though I have to wonder if she is suffering from the bleeding effect in Odyssey and that is one of th ethings that just seems really sus. I mean I have had this spoiled a bit so I know that they know what she did to Vic and I know they did something about that so they have to suspect she is suffering from the bleeding effect...and they plugged her in anyways. Hmmm the Assassin's really are sometimes pieces of crap aren't they? But I am sure the staff will keep her intact *snort* Honor BoundSo immedietly off the bat seventeen years later, Eivor is now a girl, and she is being threatened into slavery by Kotvae...as if we didn't have another bad reason to hate him. . But then she is a bad ass that breaks out of her chains and proceeds to murder everyone in sight. Despite the fact I have written a lot I do not actually have much to comment on. Wrapped up with Family Affairs and the Velka quest. I was starting to fall asleep so I put the game down for the time being.

So me and my wife just discovered something neat and man the more I experience Ubisoft the more I appreciate them. Doubt they'll ever truly replace BioWare but...for the box art that comes with the game, PS4 version in this case, I was noting that it was a little off putting to see Male Eivor on the front of the box cover because I do think that and like it when RPGs try and leave that gender ambiguous because you can be either one...but then I opened the box up and discovered femVor staring back at me from the internal cover and then my wife was like 'oh wait I can flip them' so now I have femVor as my personalized boxart because I am playing her. I. Love. Ubisoft.

Thanks for that I have one zealot left, I honestly hate chasing clues to find the damn order. Oh well hopefully trip over some of them in my further adventures. I am desperate for Raw materials, all the damn main quests I have done so far have yielded me naught????? Have you raided all the monasteries? Yeah, unfortunately there is exactly enough raw materials/settlement boosts in the game (between monasteries and alliances) to get your settlement to Level 6. Not all alliances give out raw materials or boost your settlement level, some are just silver for example, but you can tell the ones that do by checking your alliance map with Randvi.

Yep ages ago, was hoping some would reset or that I'd find more but nothing, a while ago I posted an someone said that the progress of Ravensthorpe was also connected to the story but i have not got any supplies from story quests so far. Still have a lot to go I think, juststarted Lincolnshire, have sussex to do, Schiroppshire and Wessex, Jorvik and Northumscire or whatever it is. So till something happens I am stuck at about 5.5 with at least 3 maybe 5 upgrades to go.

That actually surprises me. Usually Ubisoft goes way over board and makes sure you have more resources then you would ever need so you do not have to do everything. Though I kind of suspect while this may not be grind it still being a GaaS they do want you to play for awhile.
