It was bizarre from the get-go too. As soon as I got the mission, the pointer led to a place in the middle of Dublin, where there were no guards. I wander over and see a marker over a dog that's lying down, and I'm thinking... Is this underground?
Dog gets up.
Assassinate prompt pops up.
I gave him a pet, but I had to be careful because he likes to turn 'round quick and it could have easily... wound up poorly.
What armour are you wearing?
I also like the hair, where did you get that might have been a festival I skipped?
Judging by the trailer, it doesn't look like old age plays a part, and her motivations aren't clear beyond Havi's memories surfacing and deciding to have new adventures in NA.
We'll have to see how the various Animus-glitching/runes/puzzles (more peeks into the past?) play a role.
She's talking to herself, you know. Just like Kassandra. What's her people going to make of it if they catch her talking to air? That she's going crazy.

I don’t think either talked out loud to the other, but it was all in their head. Seeing the mouth move is more for the player than anything.
I don't play the game anymore and I keep my drivers at an older version because reasons.
But the latest Nvidia driver reportedly fixes previous issues with AC Valhalla and gives up to 25% better performance in the game.
I have these drivers, but didn't know it was supposed to improve ACV, so I ran a benchmark today.
I have a 1080Ti & 1440p GSync monitor and I'm getting Avg. 69 | Min. 31 | Max. 146 fps on mostly ultra settings.
I'm trying to find a screenshot of an older benchmark to see how it compares. I don't think it's much different though.
Since it's Nvidia we are talking about, the drivers would give the biggest improvements for the last couple of GPU generations. The Pascal performance has been slowly decreasing with new drivers for a while now.

Ah! So a dev has clarified about sages due to misconception of what's presented in Valhalla.
Sages are basically Isu reborn. Why don't they remember their past lives? Because they have amnesia. So I guess there is no two personalities, just one with part of their genetic memory blocked. If they refused to accept the memories when they're unblocked, they can go mad.
So Basim is Isu Loki whose memory was unblocked, likely in his game Mirage. That brings the question of; who's playing the life of Basim? It cannot be Basim himself. William Miles? Abstergo?
Eivor? Eivor is Isu Odin reborn. So what's with the dream fight with Odin? She refused to accept the memories? If she refused, she could go mad. However, in the trailer for the last chapter, she clearly has accepted them because she said she has more memories and wishes to travel where the memories lead her.
Edit. I like a poster's explanation of the fight Eivor had with Odin after the dev's clarification. That it's basically a fight to decide whether to carry on the mistakes of past lives or let those mistakes go and move on to a better life. I think it's still a case of personalities clashing except that they're one and the same and yet not. Maybe like Smeagol. 😁
This brought to mind several instances where the old Odin would talk to Eivor and present her with options. He would give her his advice / opinion / choice and it's up to her to follow or make her own choice. Clearly, she made her own choices, thereby becoming different from the old Odin.
Basim has to be the one who prodded Sigurd into the thought that's he's descended from "gods". I've always this question; how did he cotton on that Sigurd is an Isu? He couldn't have picked Sigurd out of the blue and hoped to hit jackpot.
The answer is likely; every reborn Isu looks like their old self. Sigurd looks like Isu Tyr so when Basim saw him, he knows who he is. He knows where Isu Tyr is, Isu Odin cannot be far away. He found that Sigurd's genetic memories were still blocked so he proceeded to unblock them by feeding him tales of his "divinity".
Basim likely never thought Isu Odin would be reborn as a woman which was why he was frank and candid with Eivor about his background when they were campaigning together to get Sigurd back. But, I think he had his suspicions irregardless as they continued to associate over time.

Two things:
1. This only works if you play female Eivor (which I know, is kinda the canon but I played a male one for example, it's a little weird if the story relies on you choosing the "correct" gender).
2. Just before the final fight, wasn't Basim surprised that Sigurd "isn't the one" but that Eivor is? Not sure what that means. Did Basim think Sigurd is Odin? If he remembers what Tyr looked like, he should have known that Sigurd was Tyr. Or am I missing something?

Plus it wasn’t Basim who unlocked Sigurd’s memories. It was Fulke.

I went with that possibility because I can't think of other ways in which Basim latched on Sigurd. Was Sigurd going about thinking he's divine before he met Basim? No, he was not. He was thinking of his inheritance he would be getting from his father and was building his power base (allies, etc) like every other Jarl which was why he went abroad so much.
The other way to look at this possibility is Basim thought Sigurd resembled an Isu he knew but he wasn't sure which one so he prodded him. He drew Sigurd to the rune stone and by his response to it, his suspicion was proven right. Eivor felt it too but she did not speak of it. Rather, she was puzzled that Sigurd was wasting his time chasing a stone and berated him.
Sigurd's awakening was done by Fulke who was pursuing her own ends. Was Sigurd a willing participant in the torture? Probably at first if he believed her stance that pain will bring forth his divinity but he didn't realise it would entail losing his fighting arm. It marred his divinity. It was partly of this, he vented his fury on Eivor.
Sigurd's Isu ID had to be ascertained. Basim knew what Isu Odin was like (arrogant? power hungry? sanctimonious? etc) and Sigurd displayed similar characteristics so his suspicions went to; is this Isu Odin? and it continued to build as Sigurd sunk deeper into his belief until Basim was sure he had him. Thus, he was surprised when it turned out to be Eivor.

I recall that each of the reincarnations has a neck mark. It's visible in the game on their character models. Loki picked up on that.
Eivor's mark is hidden by the scar and/or potentially damaged by the wolf attack. That's why Loki probably missed Eivor as one of the reincarnations.
I also came across a comment that Basim remarked that a wolf has claimed his trophy when he realised Eivor is a reincarnated Isu and the scar on her neck was likely where the mark should have been. I wonder if his intention is to kill every reincarnated Isu he came across or just the one Isu he's hunting because he didn't straight up assassinate Sigurd after meeting him. He was meticulous in finding out Sigurd was which Isu.
Why do they have that particular mark, I wonder. Is it part of the algorithm, something to identify them to one another?

So what's this new shop with a worker who can make things from dreams? Is it part of Halloween or a permanent fixture?
If it's a permanent fixture, seems like a filler feature. If they had the time to make pointless DLCs, I wish they would spend it making more stories and expand Eivor's adventures in the real world outward than fiddling around dreamscape.

It's probably something genetic, like a birthmark.
As I recall it's the spot where the reincarnation machine injects them or takes a sample during that big cutscene.
Thought it's could be something like that as I couldn't remember the entire cutscene. I only recalled them putting on the mask transfer thing.
Doesn't make sense really. Injected in an area and thereafter future incarnations born with the mark at the injection site. There's no logical explanation for this. It's contrived nonsense just so that Basim has a reason to latch on people who're Isu reincarnations.
If it's part of the reincarnation algorithm, then it's a little more acceptable if it's done with the intention to reunite the Isu once more.

DragonKingReborn I looked up your monitor, I didn't realise you could get a 4K Monitor for such a reasonable price. Your new GPU on the other hand, I have as much chance of buying one of those as winning the lottery. Good thing Powerball is $160 million next week, will definitely be buying some tickets.

That guy is a permanent fixture - he's tied in with the Forgotten Saga DLC.

The monitor is old. The business bought it…4 years ago? 5? Something like that, anyway. It paid for itself with its first rental and has been sitting on my gaming desk ever since
As for the GPU, well…yeah. Being able to buy things legitimately through a business, get the GST back and then claim the purchase as a tax expense helps immeasurably there.

Need an Aussie rep?
Good luck to you, me getting a new GPU or PC requires going to the Spanish Inquisition AKA the wife who controls the purse strings as I haven't worked for ages.

You’ll be the first to know if I do need one.
It was largely a matter of good timing/luck. Client wanted a video wall driven by a ‘powerful’ PC. I quoted based on a 3090 (best available from my supplier at the time). The client dragged their feet and by the time we got a deposit through, the 3090 and 3090ti were all gone. Had to up it to a 4090. Client has paid for it, but won’t own it…and they’re getting my old 2080ti for their event.
Whole thing is largely cashflow neutral and the business gets a new, high value product to offer and I get a whiz bang new gaming PC.
