They've been around for ages now... at least a year. But normally they're very rare, random for each player, and only happen in certain locations (we assume they move from one location to another over X amount of time). There are people who have 800+ hours in-game who've never seen one. And at these locations, there are two more (even more rare) events that can happen - Rainbows in England (with a little pile of 100 silver at the end) and burning statues of Odin. I have only seen one of each of those. Ever. Also, I've heard a rumor that none of these events will happen if it's raining. From my own experience, I think that's true. However, if you do find one (and are farming it), it won't disappear if it starts raining afterward. And just in case anyone's not sure how to farm the meteors (and rainbows). After you loot them, ride out a min. of 200 meters away, then head back towards it. In the meteor's case, another meteor will fall, which you can loot again. And you can repeat that process indefinitely as long as you don't fast travel, die, quit, or reload your game. In the rainbow's case, another pile of silver will appear. But the rainbow will eventually disappear on its own. The burning statue of Odin just generates a comment from Eivor, but can't be looted. Huh. Ok, my last session with the game (before recently reinstalling) was in March. Guess I’m just one of the unlucky ones I feel so oppressed. You literally have to be at the right place, at the right time, and when it's not raining... to find one. So don't feel bad! I think the Festival is making it easier in some way. Before this recent run of meteors, it'd been many a moon since I'd seen one.

Oh and who who started are still playing except for Hrungr Yeah, the don't exactly elaborate on the numbers. But they've had free weekends, Ubisoft+, Playstation+, etc. It's also the first AC game to pass the $1B mark (back in Feb). So, obviously the store is working out for them. I've constantly been on and off on this game. I'm only back on now because... nothing really else on my plate. Next year is going to be pretty interesting year...

I'm bouncing around from this, to MEA, to DAI, to RDR2 to Undie-Man Spider-Man Remastered. Not going to kick off another CP2077 PT until the DLC/expansion becomes available. So I'm also looking at some of the titles for early next year with some interest. Forspoken and Hogwarts Legacy being the two that I'm most interested in. Of course, if Mr Darrah is to be believed, the end of next year will be consumed with something else entirely

I am a bit on the fence re Starfield, it grabbed me at the beginning for the Gameplay demo but then lost me at the end for some reason that I can't remember.
Forspoken is probably top of my list but I want to get RDR2 now but money is too tight for games purchases ATM.
Outer Worlds, just watched some game play and comparing it to MEA or even MELE the graphics are pretty cartoon like but it looks like it could be interesting to play. And combat compared to MEA is downright awful.
BG3 I don't have the patience to play old school turn based stuff anymore.
Watched some of the first Talos Principle and is it really puzzle heavy cause it looked like it, not for me.
Guess I am really just hanging for Dreadwolf and the new ME game whenever they happen.

Forspoken is probably top of my list but I want to get RDR2 now but money is too tight for games purchases ATM. BG3 I don't have the patience to play old school turn based stuff anymore. I'm keen on BG3 in spite of turn based - because I loved what they did narratively with Divinity Original Sin 2, and the addition of proper cutscenes looks well done, plus the 'emergent gameplay' Larian are known for is a big draw, but I get it - turn based is a non-trivial negative for me. Starfield - hmmm...will probably pass or wait for modders to fix. That's the rule with Bethesda, yes? RDR2 *sees potential convert* Yaaaassss. If you do end up grabbing it - be aware; it moves its story at an almost glacial pace for the first section. You have to complete that, then move to the second chapter (the gang moves camps and each one is a new chapter), and complete a few missions before the game really opens up. I can get lost playing that game. It is beautiful (both visually and thematically) and you will wonder why more people don't spend hours hunting small woodland creatures with a bow and arrow.

Outer Worlds, just watched some game play and comparing it to MEA or even MELE the graphics are pretty cartoon like but it looks like it could be interesting to play. And combat compared to MEA is downright awful. The Outer Worlds setting, tone, and characters are both its greatest asset... and liability. People either really like its corporate satire and humor... or they really don't. Personally, I find the combat actually pretty decent. And there are a number of funny "Science" weapons. But the best builds are actually those that leverage charm/charisma. You can talk your way through most of the major plot points in the game. It definitely rewards that playstyle. Though it's worth keeping in mind that it's a AA game, not a AAA one. BG3 I don't have the patience to play old school turn based stuff anymore. After Pillars of Eternity, I didn't think I had the patience for that style of game anymore either. But... BG3. I was surprised at how good it was. Decent characters, beautiful environments, and 'emergent gameplay' (DKR) are certainly draws. With the right strategy, you can pull off battles solo that would wipe a full party who weren't as familiar with its systems. And that right there is one the game's biggest big pros/cons. It rewards smart play and knowing its systems inside and out... but will punish you if you do not. Starfield - hmmm...will probably pass or wait for modders to fix. That's the rule with Bethesda, yes? Sadly... yes. RDR2 *sees potential convert* Yaaaassss. Oddly enough, I bounced off RDR2. This would normally be right up my alley, but it just couldn't reel me in. Watched some of the first Talos Principle and is it really puzzle heavy cause it looked like it, not for me. It's a brilliant game, but it is firmly in the puzzle game camp.

I got at least 2 playthroughs and I deleted the first one (because I accidentally deleted the save file) and I sort come and go with Assassin's Creed: Valhalla more than I did with Odyssey which I have about 5 completed playthroughs on both XB1 (3 completed) and PS4 (2 completed and currently playing my 3rd playthrough on PS4 )and Origins (one playthrough on XB1).

Speaking of rainbows... I thought, okay... - this time- I'll farm the hell out of it. 100 silver every ~40 sec. does add up. Then it started getting dark... but I was still getting rainbows. I couldn't farm a rainbow at night, could I? Could I...?

My biggest problem with AC:V is that I have both an XB1 and PS4 and the game on both systems. When I playing the game on my XB1 and decide to take a break and a few days later I play AC:V on my PS4, it's loads the exact same save file from my XB1 or vice versa. Now there are some advantages like if one my consoles goes down I can still play the game that I have played over 200 hours on the other console.
But there are some downsides, like I couldn't afford Dawn of Ragnarok for both systems at the same I bought it on XB1 in June, but I couldn't play the game on my PS4 until I finally able to buy the same DLC a few weeks ago. The achievements and trophies are a complete mess. I've unlocked an achievement on XB1 and get the trophy for the same thing on PS4, I THINK (I'm not 100% sure though) Ubisoft fixed it (at least DLC and free content) where any achievements/Trophies have to be unlocked on each system respectfully which means to get the trophies for Dawn of Ragnarok means I have play it on my PS4 which means starting/loading up another playthrough.
The biggest problem for me personally with sharing saves between platforms (besides the fact that the game always loads from the most recent auto save regardless of system last played on), is I can't experiment or try different things like Eivor's personality (such as the game allows), gender, dialogue, romances, weapons, armor, doing quests/playing DLC in different order, focusing on different aspects (building the town, river raiding, main quests, side quests, and etc), the major DLC, most of the stuff Ubisoft connect and few things from the Animus Store. I like to try different things on each system, maybe on XB1 I want to play Eivor has a hot headed straight female brute who bangs the town's baker, gets drunk and gambles a lot, and doesn't give a damn about the people in her clan, politics and military strategy and is completely bloodthirsty and ruthless in her achieving her goals. While on the PS4 I want to play her where she is more cool, calm, and collected, she and it takes a lot for her to loses her temper (when she does look out), she cares deeply for the people of her clan, loves building the town, states that she isn't interest in politics but actually she loves politics, love military strategy, is curious about history and the world, only drinks in social gatherings or parties, and doesn't gamble that much, she is an openly polygamous bisexual woman and is banging both the town's huntress and Randvi but has flings with several other women and men all over English Islands, Norway, France, and Asgard. Tries to avoid unnecessary losses (on her side anyway). Also it's a way for me to the different combat styles along with different weapons and armor. Not to mention hairstyles, tattoos, and even playing as the male version.
In other words I like to play the same game on both systems but in different ways on two different consoles which I can't do with AC:V without being a huge pain in the ass.

I'm on PC-only, so I'm not even sure what the solution would be short of creating a separate, unlinked user on the 2nd console...

I ran into an unusual bug yesterday. Eivor would suddenly get a splash of blood on her chest, which would then slowly dry, then suddenly another splash of blood. And another... and another... No damage. No hit animation. Just getting splashed with blood, over and over... Should I even mention I found another meteor site...?

The way you are playing I would turn off cloud saves for the game if possible. Just to avoid the frustration. Valhalla only sends the most recent save of each type to the cloud one way around this is to split your manual saves between the two games so saves #1 to #5 are xbox and #6 to #10 are playstation if you wish to leave cloud saves on, but even then you would still be losing your backups. The idea I would try would be manual saves for one platform and quick saves for the other.

I logged in a couple times and played a few mins of the Havi in Hel stuff. But......I just exit to desktop again, I don't have much care about it. I've done none of the tombs. Haven't done the festival. I'll wait for the story bit, zoom through and uninstall forever Hope the next games are more.... assassiny? lol It sounds like they are going back to be more like the games before Origins, but the big reveal is that you are going to be playing a young Basim. Which means I will be at the very least skipping the game until it is in the deep discount bin and I am desperate for something new to play. I liked Basim until the Loki stuff. So maybe he'll be preLoki in the new game. That's my hope anyways

I finished watching God of War Ragnarök. I love the characters and story telling. I feel with and for the characters. The Santa Monica Studio did a far better job with their tale of mythologies than Ubi. It's unique, riveting, surprising and progressive. The story and characters develop. They change, they grow.
Ubi's take of Norse mythology intertwined with an ancient humanoid civilization is monotonous and stagnant. What a waste.
