History appears to show that EA has not done Bioware any favors:
I hope EA learns from its past mistakes, but can a leopard change its spots, and let Bioware make an excellent game without EA micromanagement?

Why exclude ME2 and DAO? Jade Empire almost killed the studio. Without EA's support, I doubt ME2 and DAO could be what they were.

Yeah, it's worth remembering that the reason EA bought BioWare is that they were broke and in the possession of a holding company. I guess we could speculate about an alternative universe were they were bought by some other larger company, but since there's no way of knowing if that would have been better or worse or if Dragon Age would even have existed there it seems a bit pointless.
Which is not to say that EA has never made a bone-headed management decision, but BioWare have also reportedly made plenty of those all on their own.

In my opinion, Bioware was in the honeymoon phase with a less meddlesome EA when those two great games were made. Since then Bioware has lost the doctors who grew tired of EA's aimless micromangement.
How long after the honeymoon will it take for EA to ruin Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi?

EA wants to shove live service and multiplayer in all their games and they forced bioware to use frostbite. Had Mass Effect shelved for Anthem, had them stop making a DA 4 that sounds like what we wanted and had them start over to make some "live service" DA. EA is no friend.

I mean Dragon 2 and Inquisition were excellent games and it was made under EA management so yeah Bioware can make great games under EA's watch.

Strange how ME is known as epic when ME3 is littered with nothing but fetch quests which Shepard picks up via passing people and listening to their conversations. If those games were brought out now, Witcher fan boys would do nothing but trash it.

Ironically, while you’re right in heaping a lot of scorn on EA, Patrick Soderlund was the one who pushed for the flight mechanics in Anthem, which is arguably the most universally-liked aspect of the game.
(Note the use of “arguably.” On the off chance you want to complain to me about how much you hated the flying and how part X of the game was much better, please don’t. I really couldn’t care less.)

Yet all those things you complain about could have just as easily been BioWare's doing. People complained that Mass Effect 1 and Dragon Age: Origins didn't have multiplayer, people complained that BioWare started to focus on sequels instead of new games. So now people are complaining that BioWare is putting multiplayer in their games and not making more sequels.

(Note the use of “arguably.” Please don’t respond to me with how much you hated the flying and how part X of the game was much better. I really couldn’t care less.) OK, I won't argue about hating flying, especially considering that I have not played Anthem.
My point is that EA probably did not create a suitable atmosphere to help Bioware succeed. Bioware never knows whether the work they are performing will be scrapped by a EA enforced reboot. For example DA2 Exodus got scrapped to implement Frostbyte for DAI, and Joplin got scrapped to implement live service. I would imagine it would be difficult to work for EA with its old "command and control" management style and inconsistent direction.
Soderlund created a circus at Endmonton with his punative visits with his empty suit entourage. Yes, it should not have come to the last minute reinstatement of flying in Anthem, but when upper management provides inconsistent direction in a work environment based on fear, the chance of success is diminished.

That still doesn't mean that BioWare would be better off somewhere else or those actions wouldn't have happened elsewhere. Most major publishers stopped buying developers for awhile, but its going to be interesting to see what happens at Microsoft after all their purchases especially after all the reports about Lionshead Studio and its eventual closing. Everything I have read over the years I don't think EA is alone with what happened and I don't think BioWare would have been any better off under any of the other publishers for I think they would be in a very similar place now regardless of ownership. I also don't believe after reading all the reports and interviews over the years BioWare would exist today with a major publisher giving them finical stability. The problem I have with a lot of this kind of thinking is we don't know everything, its all jumping to conclusions with what the internet articles claim to be an accurate description of the facts. I think a lot of BioWare's problems with Andromeda and Anthem were self inflicted more with Andromeda then Anthem. When I talk about jumping to conclusions its things like your comment about Dragon Age 2: Exodus. Yes it was cancelled and yes they moved to Frostbite, but if they did what some on this board say BioWare should have done by going to Unreal Engine would the outcome have been any different? So if they weren't going to Frostbite would it have been EA's fault or BioWare's fault? I think a lot of time when I keep seeing people want to blame EA, I can also see where it could just as easily be BioWare's fault as well. It just seems to be that people want to blame EA when BioWare could just as easily be at fault for some of their decisions.

It is hard to imagine a worse publisher owning Bioware. Over the years, EA has made it clear they don't support single-player games and that rpgs don't make the kind of money they want to make.

It is hard to imagine a worse publisher owning Bioware. Over the years, EA has made it clear they don't support single-player games and that rpgs don't make the kind of money they want to make. Activision comes to mind quickly for me, they have closed a lot of studios until they stopped acquiring more and took two studios and turned them into zombies to make Call of Duty games. They are also the funny one for me because of what happened with Bungie everyone was very quick to blame Bungie for all of the problems with Destiny, but rarely pointed the finger at Activsion for the longest time. Not to mention the mass layoffs at Blizzard just so the profits don't change last year. Then there is Microsoft and Lionshead Studios for I wouldn't the rumor if it was EA that they forced Lionshead to make a Kinect only game.

If BioWare was owned by Activision, they would probably be hard at work on Jade Empire 2: Communist Overlords Are Our Superiors.
