I have DAO on Steam, and DA2 and DAI on Origins. My DA Keep is full up on world states, so I assume that even if I buy DAO on Origin, the combined DAO and DA2 world state wouldn't show up unless I deleted a world state in the Keep? Other than that, are there any substantial, or even minor, disadvantage to just continuing to just manually edit a tapestry in the Keep to make the desired world state for DAI (and possibly DA4)? I've never had any troubles with importing the save game from DAO on Steam, to when I start a new game on DA2 which I have on the Origin platform. Afaik, the only continuity between DA2 and DAI that can occur (from the game mechanics perspective) is via the Dragon Age Keep. I don't want to bother with an Origin subscription just to get DAO for free on Origin, nor do I want to pay anything (even if the price isn't excatly much) for a game I already have on Steam if there's no need. But still, if there's something substantial, particularly in-game, I'm missing out on. For example, if you're guarenteed more past actions from DAO and DA2 to cross over into DAI - even if they're not visible on the tapestry - by having all games on Origin, rather than spread between Steam and Origin?

I had Origins on Steam for years, then I moved it over to Origin to have all the games in one place (yeah, I've multiple copies of various games...don't ask)
at any rate, the game just recognizes the location on your pc where you have your save files. So it doesn't matter if you have your games on Steam or Origin
as for the Keep...the Keep only recognizes any heroes you've made, and past choices need to be manually put inside it anyway in theory you wouldn't even need to buy the first two games in order to play Inquisition, but most people tend to do so anyway for sake of continuity or completion

Looks like I can safely get back to suppressing the part of my brain that lately has gone: "But it will look and feel more orderly if you have the whole series on Origin". My: "Be sensible with your money, and a little digital cluttering hasn't hurt anyone"- side feels vindicated and confident again. Cheers.

I tend to have those impulses myself at times as well, and as I said...lost that argument several years ago

GOG Galaxy is better than everything out there. DRM is cancer.
Aside from that, you can truly own your games. You can download the installation programs and burn them on disks or carry them around on an external disk if you chose to do so. You can't do that with Steam and Origins, and if one of those has to shutdown, then it's likely you might have to buy all your games again from another client.

I am not sure if it is still possible, but Dragon Age: Origins CD from Steam will work on Origin so you don't need to buy the game again on Origin if you want the copy there.
As far as "Owning the game" its the same with Dragon Age: Origins for with Origin you download a copy of the CD and run it from there, no need to use the launcher to use any BioWare game prior to Mass Effect 3.
[edit] To check if you can use your key. Just right click on Dragon Age in your Steam library and then the Manage tab and CD Keys. Then in Origin go to the Origin menu option and then Redeem Product Code. I prefer using the Origin version of the game for I found with Steam since its launch Origin is unstable and will crash regularly.
