I do suspect that this "age" will end with a well-fed Oghren taking a nap after dinner, his trusty axe coated with the blood of walking snacks...

The possibilities of the Nug Age aside... I assume that either the series won't continue past the Dragon Age or, should that happen, it'll still be called Dragon Age.

Simplest solution I guess would be to never have the franchise move out of this age. Lots of stuff can happen in just a few years. Jumping out of a total age wouldn’t be necessary anyway. I don't know about this. I'd rather not have this saga turn into Marvel Comics where no one ages and no one dies. I fully understand your point but it would seem a bit like that if the universe didn't have the capacity to move on. I'd rather they just ignore the whole thing like they did with Baldur's Gate 2. Difference is that Marvel Comics has been around for decades, constantly recycling and reimagining the same heroes over and over again. Dragon Age benefits from the fact that past protagonists will get pushed aside indefinitely for new ones in one or two games. Old protagonists can just live their lives and age off screen. We don’t need to see their whole lives. The franchise won’t rely on some fixed set of characters for its duration, and it’s also likely that the franchise won’t be around for that many games anyway. It’s probably better to come up with a definitive end rather than have it suffer franchise fatigue.

We've only seen three countries on the entire continent of Thedas, and in the case of the Free Marches, only one city within that country. There's plenty of space for concurrent storylines set in other parts of Thedas, and infinite space for stories set in the lands beyond, of which we know nothing.
That said, they've already set-up the pieces for a dramatic, permanent altering of the setting, and I would rather they follow through, rather than blue-ball me for years with a lot of fucking around. They need to stop filling the gaps, and finally tell the story they keep saying they've been waiting to tell.
And if this next insrallment ends once again with us preserving/restoring a terrible and, frankly, boring status quo, I will be extremely disappointed.

Can't agree more
Give me Rivain, Nevarra, Antiva...all the countries we haven't seen, give me parts of the Free Marches that we haven't explored yet And please for the Maker's sake, make them all unique, so that when I stumble into them for the first time I'll be amazed by the beauty of architecture and the diverse cultures we've only heard of so far.
Also, let me (in the vein of NWN2) choose whether to safe or destroy the world 'cause let's face it, with the way they're setting things up so far...I sincerely hope we can go the "evil" route and help Solas tear down the veil and bathe the world in fire...if only just once for a playthrough and achievement

They could drop the Veil and Solas could just be wrong about the Thedas-wide destruction. Also the Divine calling it the Dragon Age could have been prophetic because the dragons have been gradually reviving and the time before the Veil was when "dragons ruled the skies". They are also the one creature that could probably withstand a fiery chaos. So drop the Veil and it truly becomes "The Dragon Age".
There have been a lot of clues that this is going to happen: Sandal, Flemeth and Kieran have said as much, so even if our next PC stops Solas, it could be too late and it still happens, or they could be convinced of the necessity and let it happen. Either way, the game ends with a new reality but is still the Dragon Age.

Honestly, I think it would be wise to give the next game after DA4 a big time skip of maybe like 30-40 years. The amount of protagonists running around in close proximity to each other is already quite ridiculous. For example, Bioware have basically needed to create a new excuse every time for why the Hero of Ferelden is continually far far away and inaccessible.
It would be good to clear out some of that clutter in a respectful way.

It’s probably better to come up with a definitive end rather than have it suffer franchise fatigue. Not necessarily. The main selling point for a lot of people is the world and the characters who populate it. The fatigue and need for an end seems poor when the potential for continuation and dynamic world changes seems high. In some ways I kind of see everything dragon age stands for as being a long running campaign with linear continuity and parties. It's actually a technique I use for my own worlds; each time I GM a game in my custom setting the plot is new, but the backdrop has the same secrets, conflicts, and characters running around. I've had former PC characters come back as NPCs in the world, changes to factions based on player choice and that. That feeling is preserved and kind of brilliant because of player investment, a definitive end would eradicate that. Even by another name. If we get the Elven Age or Demon Age or Griffon Age or whatever next. Time marches on and the series has a lot of narratives to tell.

I mean the exalted council was in 9:44, we've still got more than half a century left.
Provided they don't pull any more da2 decade long games or huge time skips between them we can assume we're gonna be in the dragon age for a long ass time.
If they do make dragon age games long enough to reach a new age they could always go GRIFFON AGE
with
A Dragon Age Game
Written somewhere around it.
And bring back the little blood Dragon around the EA logo or some such to still make use of the dragon age branding in the new games marketing.

What I seriously suspect the aim of the series is, is to conclude with such a drastic, fundamental change to the setting that the convention of naming 'ages', which originates with the Chantry, will become completely irrelevent.
The core conflict at the heart of the series, as is the case with most settings where "magic used to be everywhere, but now it is fading, or is it...?", seems to be the restoration of the original/natural state of Thedas, vs maintenance of the current status quo.
Assuming BioWare plans to ever conclude the series, I suspect it's either going to be a return of magic to the world, and everyone learns to peacefully cohabitate with dragons, spirits, etc, or magic finally withers/dies/departs, giving way to a new era of man/technology/science ala Lord of the Rings.

If they make it into the tenth century I still expect the franchise to be called 'Dragon Age.' And I wouldn't even be the least bit surprised if the Dragon Age ends up being so earth shattering for Thedas that they won't make the name permenant going into the future. On the flip side I think the story of Dragon Age will just stay within the Dragon Age and we'll never see anything in the tenth century. Afterall we are already three games in...the fourth game is taking forever...and the next game is going to take place at the latest of 9:50...we still have half a century too go. Yeah I doub tthe series will go beyond the Dragon Age either besides I heard somewhere tha ti twas a 5 game plan s otechbnically if they stick with it it's likely only going t obe a couple more plus whatever DLC's are released with them.

There is no planned ending for DA. There is an evolving plan that tends to look 2 games ahead or so. - Anyway, they have plenty of time to figure out the next age, if they haven't already...

For a serious suggestion, I think the Age after the Dragon Age should be called the Compass Age, because I think Thedas is going to enter its equivalent to the RL Age of Discovery. After all, Josephine wants to explore beyond Thedas, to the land of Amaranthine, and thanks to her efforts, Thedas could discover a "New World." Not to mention that the Warden is running around in lands beyond Thedas in search of a cure for the Calling.
