It's downright depressing how much work went into this terrible terrible game, but this is an interesting watch.

TBH, they sound like a broken old machinery that can barely handle its own and is prone to falling apart very soon. I'd be very alarmed if my car would sound like that. There is nothing sleek or interesting in these effects, simply not very artistic.

I think that is (or should have been) by intent. Remember, they are a guild on their last legs. Held together by duct tape and hope.
I actually did like the sound design, and I considered the sounds of the Ranger, Interceptor, and Storm to be selling points while playing. The Colossus ... not so much. I could see what they were going for, and honestly it succeeds. But it, and just the slow way he transitions between movements & actions, continually grated on me.
Anyway, I'm surprised they released this video now. It's not like a huge fan base is there to lap it up.

TBH, they sound like a broken old machinery that can barely handle its own and is prone to falling apart very soon. I'd be very alarmed if my car would sound like that. There is nothing sleek or interesting in these effects, simply not very artistic. A broken machine effect would be much more erratic. Here it sounds more like there's a lot of contact points constantly colliding and actuators pumping to coincide the servo whirring, which makes sense since it's big mechanical robot limbs moving quickly. You can be sure that if your car didn't have all the sound insulation it has in its cabin and exhaust system, it would be a much more brutal experience on the ears. To say it's not very artistic isn't very fair. It's clear that there's a specific set of "personalities" at play with how they designed each individual javelin's audio profile. Whether or not you like it doesn't change whether or not it's an artistic endeavor.
