All of the options amount to either agreeing that Leiliana should kill him (if only tacitly) or arguing that he should be spared. Where's the option for "and try to take him alive if it is reasonably practical?" This is an option, if you tell her to use him for information. At least, that's how I interpret it. But she says "see that he lives" without qualifying the command in any way. I imagine she'd understand if Butler pulled a knife and ended up butchered, but we're left to speculate on that ourselves. I'd feel a lot better if she sent the agent in with explicit permission to pull his own knife if things went wrong.

I think, what bugged me the most, was Morrigan lecturing my Lavellan about elven gods. That was so stupid. Indeed
Yes, human, do enlighten me about my own people's gods. I'm Dalish after all not one of those uneducated city elves
Didn't the Dalish forget/lose most of their knowledge about the ancient elves? Like practically everything revealed in DAI would be a shock to them. And then Abelas doesn't even consider the Dalish inquisitor to be "his people".

Last I checked, The Who Is Mythal is an optional investigate choice. So a Dalish asking that isn’t BioWare making them ignorant of their culture, the player is doing that.

There are others which are not. When you first arrive in the Arbor Wilds, a Dalish elf automatically and unavoidably asks what a Temple of Mythal is. Which is absurd. Any Dalish would know what a Temple of Mythal is.

I'm pretty sure they said that was a script error.

I didn't like the stance system in DA2. When your character would automatically say nice, rude, or "funny" things depending on which direction you were leaning in in general. Being robbed of the option to be nice to friends and aggressive with enemies was not fun.

“Look... we got rid of that Alrik, right?" Ralph looked at him seriously. "Meredith will be perhaps more reasonab---” suddenly he laughed “eh, this that bullshit as it sounds… "but at most we kill her…"
DA2, Dissent (Anders quest, Questioning Beliefs) – Because of Meredith will be never "reasonable"... (Ralph is my proud red maleficarum – and he's a very funny guy. The first part and the second is the canon version...)

Last I checked, The Who Is Mythal is an optional investigate choice. So a Dalish asking that isn’t BioWare making them ignorant of their culture, the player is doing that. That question is optional. There are others which are not. When you first arrive in the Arbor Wilds, a Dalish elf automatically and unavoidably asks what a Temple of Mythal is. Which is absurd. Any Dalish would know what a Temple of Mythal is. I'm not so sure.
Certainly any Dalish would be familiar with the names and basic nature of all of their gods, including Mythal, and could probably recite most of the well-known stories about them.
But the series has also made it very clear that the Dalish have lost a huge part of their history and culture; all that remains are fragments, and echoes of myths handed down from generation-to-generation. Merril's story arc in DA:2 addresses this directly, and Solas makes it quite clear that the majority of what the Dalish believe about their own history, their gods, and the world is very distorted, or plain wrong.
So it's perfectly conceivable that a Dalish, while knowing all the surviving mythology surrounding Mythal, might be unaware of these actual temples, given that they are a nomadic people who do not worship within temples. It's possible the temples may indeed have been forgotten.

So it's perfectly conceivable that a Dalish, while knowing all the surviving mythology surrounding Mythal, might be unaware of these actual temples, given that they are a nomadic people who do not worship within temples. It's possible the temples may indeed have been forgotten. Whilst they are a nomadic people, they are aware that at one time they had a great empire with a city at his heart and so it is likely if they associate temples with gods, they may have thought they did have them then but they definitely had them in the Dales. In DAI we find mage robes of the High Keeper which has the following codex entry: "Dating back to the period of the elven Dales, when the Keepers were not leaders and guides for individual clans but rather priests who served as archivists and magical scholars, these robes belonged to the High Keeper for the largest temple of old Halamshiral, dedicated to Elgar'nan the All-Father and Eldest of the Sun" So considering the Keepers actually served in the temples to their gods in the Dales, I think they would remember and pass on that knowledge to the clan members, or at the very least the mage members of their clan who are proto-Keepers and therefore responsible for ensuring the lore is not forgotten. I would definitely have wished that we could more strenuously deny the 3-mage rule every time someone mentioned it, something along these lines: "Yes, may be there are some clans that do this, just as there are some that live like human bandits, but they are not true to the old ways. At one time all our people possessed magic and thus every mage child born to the clan is precious to us as they take us one step closer to recovering what we once were. Any Keeper that authorises abandoning their mage children or asks them to leave the clan for no good reason is is a traitor to the People. However, it is true that a mage may be banished if they have indulged in forbidden magic as they are a danger to their clan." Then for Minaeve: "I hardly think you were guilty of this, so you would have been welcomed by my clan." For Iron Bull may be: "So perhaps you should ask Dalish the real reason she was asked to leave." To Vivienne: "So as you can see, we are responsible about using magic without being stupidly afraid of it." Or for Vivienne

What was that moment for you? Luckily, it happens rarely. And it's more "WHEN NONE OF THE OPTIONS ARE WHAT YOUR CHARACTER WOULD DO" 1) DA:O behead Anora after the Landsmeet, if she sided wtih Loghain. Or at least exile her after merciful King Alistair died. Come on, that's unacceptable. No way she'll be queen after what she did. 2) DA:2 In act 3, go directly to thrask (or the conspirators) and tell them: ok, you want to dethrone Meredith? Let's do it tonight. Let's break into the tower, and I'll exterminate everyone who opposes me. Then I go to Elthina, and force her to appoint a new knight commander (preferably Thrask) and me as viscount. I take full responsibility, as champion. If we fail, we will all end up decapitated. If we succeed.. glory, honor and, for those who care, justice. let's gamble! DA: inquisition 3) to Leliena: you will NEVER be Divine. Period. You were a mediocre bard, a mediocre left hand and a mediocre spy master. The Chantry deserve better. If you are elected, you won't get to Val Royaux alive. That, I promise. I'm the inquisitor, the chosen fo Andraste, my word is the word of the holy prophet, and you will obey me. Enough with this crazy stuff about mage freedom and reform. If necessary, bribe and threaten the Grand clerics not to elect you. Fall in line, and say no more.

Karl in DA2. Tried to play an anti kill Hawke. Option 1: If I were Tranquil, I'd wish I was dead too. "Help" him. Option 2: I haven't seen any unhappy tranquils. Maybe it's not that bad.

I'm pretty sure they said that was a script error. That's how I remember it; there was a thread on the official BSN... One of the developers, Gaider I think, said it was an error and apologized. Initially the Dalish Lore icon wasn't available as well...they were able to fix that, but not to correct the error entirely because it would introduce additional errors.
