The game seems locked at 60 FPS in flight and closer to 30 FPS in hangar. And that is despite the FPS counter showing different. I know the difference.
Locking your FPS to 60 actually smooths things out. I have no problem either way, probably thanks to G-sync, but seems like a bug. I tried all fixes I could think of - drivers, HDR, NVCP settings, etc. It's just the game.
HOTAS deadzone feels huge and can't be changed.
KB/M feel awkwardish and jittery on pretty much all mouse settings. Aiming in a fast paced turning duel is just about impossible. The fine KB/M control that exists in BF2 and SWTOR is absent here and I can't think of a reason why.
Xbox controller works probably the best, but aiming is pretty bad even with it.
The cockpit view (only one that we use) is not a good choice. In most ships you have more than half of your screen obstructed. The aiming reticle is often just above the cockpit panel, which means that you have to use the Force on lining up a shot to a target that comes from below your view or runs there. You will often fail stopping your turn at the precise aiming point, because you can't see the target coming into view and the tracking aid doesn't show distance or outlines, just direction.
The solutions to the above? First - fight inverted. Always change your rotation so the target comes to the reticle from the top and not the bottom of the screen. Second - don't look at the targets, watch your tiny radar. It does a far better job at showing enemy positions than anything else. I actually began racking up kills by just following the radar and not looking at the pretty window views. But that actually is horrible, because it feels you play a game from the 1980ies.
Not enough useful shortcuts. There is no "closest target" for example or a key to rotate through the weak points of a ship. There are general targeting profiles, so I guess it's just console peasant limitations again.

Phew, sounds like a lot of flight sim 101 mistakes right there. Ok, I can even somewhat understand the screen obstruction issues if they wanted to capture the feel of the 1990s SW space sims but boy, that sounds pretty bad. Not to mention the issues with the control devices.
And no key for select closest target? I mean, come one!
Didn't the devs say that they were big time space sim fans themselves and this was a passion project? How can you leave out something like that?

Useable mouse settings:
ingame: Mouse sensitivity: 0 Mouse screen motion range: 0-5
Set your mouse to 100-400dpi.
The differences in feel even at those very low ratings are really significant considering the scale goes up to a regular 100, and mouse DPI to 12000. I personally use 0/3/200 and feels fine. It's not amazeballs, but perfectly useable. The controls for the original X-Wing/Tie-Fighter games were worse ^^ (no key for closest target is annoying though)
Haven't dared to venture into MP yet, grinding my teeth in the SP campaign on second highest difficulty (I blame my boomer reflexes/muscle memory). Pretty cool, and your AI squadmates are not useless for once.

Players have four difficulty options at the start of the game, which are Story (Easy), Pilot (Normal), Veteran (Hard), and Ace (Very Hard).

I’ve only played the prologue and first story mission so far but I’ve had a lot of fun learning the ropes! Thing is I’ve sunk a lot of time into Battlefront 2’s star fighter assault and I’m having a pig of a time retraining my brain to accept the new way of flying - stupid muscle memory!

This is my petty complaint of the day since its a first person game for the most part. I wish you either had a fixed protagonist or a decent character generator. Picking form a pack of 12 faces just reminds me of all the things they leave out.

My first Fleet Battle loss. We were 3v5 and we still got their capital ship to 50% health! If any of those level 5 noobs didn't leave, we would have won it easy. But "omg, enemy team has four people above level 15, let's rage in voice chat how matchmaking sucks and quit before being stomped"...
Still, got personal records for kills, assists, kill streak and capital ship damage. It's funny how the enemy team didn't bother destroying the super easy Star Destroyer shield generators until I soloed theirs and started pounding on the cruiser. Then they did suicide runs on the generators while I was doing a heroic 1-man fish in a barrel shootout.
This got me so pumped, I had to brag about it.

Interestingly enough there was precisely about one mention of this within the about 4 hour game movie I saw, and that was once a mention of "they"...
As a matter of fact, it finally seemed like Keo is a character that was made as a character first, whatever else second.

Still plugging my way through the campaign and having a blast so far! The flying controls finally clicked for me yesterday and suddenly I’m scrapping ties left and right with a huge ass grin on my face! 😁
Looking forward to jumping in to the multiplayer! I’ve heard that the ai is merciless and most actual players are on the same skill level (ie trying not to crash!) Can’t wait!

Motive have made very little 'deal' of the inclusion that is hard wired. I noticed it in the character picker where you can independently pick face, body and voice, without fuss. That this game was made with many of those behind Mass Effect Andromeda is obvious if you are looking for it.

I’ve heard that the ai is merciless and most actual players are on the same skill level (ie trying not to crash!) Can’t wait! The AI is pretty weak from what I experienced. Only danger are capital ships, but one run under their shield to blow up some turrets and you create yourself a safe zone. Most players definitely are not aces. I still haven't found my sweet spot with the controls, but am topping the charts since my first game. People don't understand how critical it is to go under shields and blow up subsystems or how to set up targeting and manage their power. I am often doing all objectives on my own while others dogfight. Almost won a game while I was pretty much soloing against five enemies.

The amount of time I found myself alone watching/defending a capture point while everyone else is just dogfighting. It's a bit better here, because even just dogfighting helps to turn the "Morale" meter and switch the fight. And the Objective play is not so static as in GSF. When you defend, it's always waves of attackers, so you never sit idle. And then you switch to attack (hint - use a speed build) and even a single person can make a difference.

I installed it and did the first mission. Then restarted early in it because my Hotas wasn't working (my fault, forgot to install the drivers, I haven't used it in years).
I need practices, but I didn't collide with anything, so there is that.

This game is definitley on my radar so keeping an eye on this thread for impressions especially for those for the PS4. Apparently serious business flight combat people are upset with it. Things like its a slow unskilled game for old people and casuals. As its my first game of the type I can't really say, its fun for me and I'm not overwhelmed by its speed or complexity. So maybe its accurate as I'm old and a casual. I'd probably wait for a price drop. Its fun but I don;t see me invensitng tons of hours into it. Though its easy to hop on and play for a hour or two when you got nothing else to do. .
