A particularly timely lore video considering the WIP pictures that have just been released. It seems we may finally discover the true origins of the blight and the darkspawn next game.

I had no idea the Darkspawn didn't need to eat or drink! Where did you glean that fact from? I wonder if they also even need to breathe. It makes them more like Zombies, in a sense. I suppose one could have some interesting plotlines regarding Darkspawn being walled up alive or trapped in a landslide, who then emerge centuries later, fighting fit.
I must admit that I found the retcon of the Genlocks from Goblin clones into gorilla-type squats rather grating, even though it was understandable. The weird thing is that Genlocks are now more powerful than Hurlocks, though they were previously weaker and more numerous. It is also much harder to find proxy models for the new Genlocks, when I'm looking for miniature figures for my pen-and-paper DA campaign!
I think it's a great shame the potential of the Disciples wasn't explored beyond DA: Awakening. The example of the Messenger (if freed by a Warden after defending Amaranthine) could be a seed of some fantastic stories - basically a Darkspawn Robin Hood type loner who helps the vulnerable but is cursed by leaving the taint behind him.
Lastly, I wonder if Dragon Age was being written today, we'd ever get any Broodmothers at all. I certainly don't think we'll see any again - the idea that each Darkspawn is basically the result of rape (in a sense) will mean Bioware won't touch the subject with a barge pole. It's a shame.
Anyway - keep up the good work!

I had no idea the Darkspawn didn't need to eat or drink! Where did you glean that fact from? I believe it came from The Calling. The DA wiki also sources a David Gaider post from the old BSN, the archive is still there. He said that Broodmothers do require food however
