Well, well, well. What do we have here? CDPR has learned from Bioware apparently; they released a trailer set in the proper tone. That being said, if you visit their corporate website, you'll discover it has DEI slop plastered all over it. So, beware of deception. It certainly won't be a pre-order or day-1 purchase for me. EDIT: The graphics however are superbly realistic, without falling into uncanny valley territory. But Ciri isn't supposed to be a full fledged witcher; she's a female and females cannot go through the Trial of Grass. And yet here we see her eyes become cat-like after drinking that potion, just like Gerald. More retcon incoming? EDIT2: Also, it's a pity they chose to ignore the 'Ciri as Empress' scenario - but I suppose you can't have a 'girl-boss who don't need no men' if she's in a ceremonial dress and not bunking in the mud, swords at hand. EDIT3: Some humorous quips found on a Youtube comment section: - "Ciri, the long lost Habsburg child. God that jawline could be used to cut glass." - "Hit the wall so hard her facial structure changed" - "Who is she going to be a self-insert of? Show your jaw, designer." - "That's not Ciri, that's someone mid transition." Felt bad because it was the first thing I noticed. Like right away. Look at that jaw. She still looks like Ciri but they're already chipping away at her. Trial of grasses is a major issue if they follow through on making her a literal Witcher. I suppose they can retcon some sort of exception for her and only her. The goodwill from Witcher 3 will allow most to look the other way. Strange thing is, the story in the trailer is in keeping with the Witcher universe but still falls in line with the feminist 'men are bad' messaging; two birds. It's not enough to turn me off from the game, but I'm definitely going to be watching it warily and with great interest.

So, beware of deception. It certainly won't be a pre-order or day-1 purchase for me. They got Witcher too??? That's beyond disappointing, especially for the Witcher series. I felt like they were on the upward spiral because game 1 was good, game 2 better and Witcher 3 was one of the best. Even with Witcher 1 outdated graphics, I still find the ending packing a punch. That terrified, 'Wait... This sword is for MONSTERS!' I guess my GOTY for the next 10 years is going to be The Long Dark. They just released Part 5 of their story mode for Christmas when I was cold and lonely with nothing new to play. In the greedy, corporate climate, there is a small company that stood on its own for many years and never sold their soul out. And they happen to be Canadian, which makes me puffed up with pride.

Unironically reinventing the Cassandra skull shape theatrics. Ah yes. Humorous. Is that you David Gaider? ---- Regardless, pattern recognition is a skill. And the uglification or de-sexualization of women characters in computer games is usually a symptom of one particular pattern, which more and more people are getting increasingly good at spotting.

In hindsight Inquisition is really not bad, and has some really high highs. But also a lot of stumbling Inquisition is actually quite good. Even excellent in some areas. You tighten up the maps, make some of the war table assignments actual missions that you play, don't lighten up on the depiction of the Qun, give the protagonist a greater range of choices in regards to morality and you've got a 9 out of 10.

Tbh, the "Eastern Game Developer" side is just the same anime face pasted 12 times. I'm all for attractive characters in games, but at least with BW we've had some different faces. You can't tell me the male options in DA were ever some same chad face, burly guy either, and I don't recall a huge backlash over those.

Well, as someone who is NOT a fan of the Witcher series, let me say that the Witcher 4 trailer is perfectly fine and I do not detect any "men is bad" messaging. If that's what the anti-woke crowd is trying to push, you're blatantly wrong; if anything, the trailer is an indictment of ignorance and blind faith.
Also, Ciri is still very attractive; she's just older. Y'all with your taking a measuring stick to every woman's jaw reminds me of Monty Burns and his obsession with phrenology.

As expected.
Just a few months ago this forum was complaining that modern surgery had no place in this medieval setting. But it's appropriate for Ciri to be looking like a supermodel in professionally done makup and plastic surgery? The goalposts.

The men are bad messaging because they send that girl out to the monster, they kill her at the end, and all the notable antagonists of Ciri in the trailer are men. I'll admit I'm probably jumping the gun on this one considering the father holding the dead girl at the end is in tears and looks physically injured. Even tried to do the right thing in hiring Ciri. It's probably more of the same Witcher universe people are evil messaging. But Ciri looking noticeably different, the villains being men, the victims female, and Cat eye'd Ciri somehow taking potions, all of it combined gives off a certain vibe. That they're going to tell their story. Regardless of retconning and brute forcing the lore or not. It is too soon to say with any certainty, but I'd be cautious with this title and really look at it before buying.

Was pretty obvious from the start, human sacrifices, especially women(maiden) is such a common trope. Has nothing to do with "men bad". What I got from it, which has always been a thing in the witcher series is that people can be just as bad as monsters or worse. I'm not a massive Witcher fan myself(have played but not finished any of the games, 1-2 because combat) but I like the lore and like to read about it.

Since I prefer men, I have no beef in this. However, if someone like me notices it, then it means it's quite obvious. I can only guess what goes on in the minds of the guys who are actually attracted to females ('porn brained' you called them once right?). As for your expectations, well, what can I say, other than it's quite clear that those on either side of the divide will never see eye-to-eye. *shrug*

I picked that image because the contrast was striking, but I do agree with you on the first part - the anime aesthetic has never been my thing, regardless of genders. Not quite sure what you meant in the underlined part though? If I read it correctly, you seem to say all the males in DA looked alike? I disagree. There are great differences between Duncan, Alistair and Zevran. The similarities had more to do with the limitations of the engine than a uniform look IMO.

In terms on DAV, not suprised they won no prices in the Game Awards though the trailer that was there hyping it was a bit eh. Have they usually hyped a game after its release because I dont remember out of the bat.

Well, you should be cautious no matter what, considering what a dumpster fire Cyberpunk 2077 was at launch. CD ProjektRed has proven they are willing to lie to you in order to increase sales. I still watch Crowbcat's Cyberpunk video on occasion. It's staggering how badly they botched that game in terms of promises made.
