3 years between games is what I would expect. Dragon Age is an existing series, so for many things they should be able to build on and improve what they already created for previous games rather than having to redo everything each game. Story and characters would obviously need to be new for each game.
If they decide to create a new ip, they should hire a new team for it, like Respawn did for Jedi Fallen Order, rather than putting existing series on hold.

Anthem, so far as I can tell, will continue to be solely in the hands of BioWare Austins at this point. That leaves the Edmonton studio working on the other big name titles (primarily Mass Effect and Dragon Age). We've already gotten some speculation from both Jason Schreier, and even one of Anthems producers (I can't remember his name, though I think it started with Mike), that BioWare has a few people prototyping the next Mass Effect game. So my guess would be that they'll probably oscillate between both franchises, with maybe 5-6 years in between each title. As I've said before, I think these types of games are slowly moving towards being generational titles, rather than yearly/bi-yearly titles akin to Assassins Creed or CoD. Considering that it's mostly the Edmonton studio pulling the weight, this is probably a realistic expectation at this point. Dragon Age becoming a "once in a console gen" franchise... I really don't want this to be true but you are probably right. Dev time for triple A games seems to constantly be increasing from each generation to the next + the same studio having to make a brand new Mass Effect as well? Well, lets hope we get more than 3 story DLC's this time to keep us going for the next 10 year wait

Again, we know from a (pre-Covid) EA conference call that DA4 was due to release sometime after April 2022. That meant Fall 2022 (most likely). But with the pandemic and everyone still working from home (since March), I'm guessing it'll get pushed into Q1 2023, but no later than the end of EA's financial year (Mar. 31, 2023). We'll see... On the plus side, they won't have to worry about supporting older gen consoles.

If AC holds to what seems to be their release schedule then this could dodge a bullet for me since I in trying to do the math I put the next likely AC game as 2022, so I can get and play them both. Maybe even have time to play Inquisition again between all that.

It'll be interesting to see if Bethesda takes the teaser/reveal approach they do with the Fallout series. Normally, those games are launched within the same year they're announced.

Fall 2022 earliest but more likely in 2023.
If mgt is smart, Bio will take their time to develp the story, plot themes, characters, combat mechanics and level progression. If they are smarter the game is non linear. And, if their are geniouses they'll take a page from the Larian Studios playbook.
I have plenty of games to keep me busy until launch day. BG3 early access being one of them.

Well from what I’ve seen so far early access seems like a good idea however I am waiting patiently for a final game to come out
I also believe with all this time there’s huge pressure on the da team. I have high hopes
I’m going to assume da4 will be built based o the limitations of next gen. What I don’t understand is what can this next gen do what the ps4/x1 can’t. Just looking at bg3 and I’m not seeing anything that couldn’t be run in x1?

Just looking at bg3 and I’m not seeing anything that couldn’t be run in x1? For starters, both next-gen consoles will be running on SSD's as opposed to HDD. This will mean faster load times, which can translate to developers being able to load more information into the game in a shorter period of time (assuming we're loading the same amount of data). There's also the very obvious power and memory limit increases as well. I think it's universally agreed by many tech experts, who have looked at current gen consoles, and have stated that they have long been surpassed by their PC counterparts, as well as the leap between the 360/PS3 not being that significant.

Can't remember if it was David Gaider or Mike Laidlaw who brought this up, but one of them talked about the troubles of having the DLC's be the point to which teases for the next game are revealed. On one hand, you have the potential of generating hype and speculation about what's to come, but on the flip-side, you also make it so that players don't truly get the REAL story unless they buy said DLC. While I can see DA4 ending various plotlines (such as the one with Solas), I also wouldnt be shocked if it created new ones; maybe even in DLC. Then they shouldn't have left the Solas plot for a DLC in the first place.

RIGHT!? Bioware, tick tock, I have time I don't feel guilty about using for video games now, not 2-3 years from now when I'm tackling more difficult and time-consuming things in my studies! Don't you think about me at all!?
