Ugh, found the Opal (formerly known as Orichalcum) shop. Prices are outrageous! Where is it? You need to upgrade your settlement to Level 2 or maybe 3. I noticed the vendor (near the fish building) after I was at level 3, but he might have been there at 2. Breakfall skill is in the yellow tree, at the bottom, after Backstab and Advanced Assassination. Auto-loot is on the left from Breakfall.

So yesterday again just roamed and mined ore and hunted things and ran out of arrows a and took to hiding and then jumping out and killing Elk and other animals. Stuck on two Antlers besides killing at least 20 of the damned things. Then headed to a town called Stavenger to clear a wealth icon on the map, couldn't figure out how to get into the building it was in and really not sure I could have. Had to cheat and look at the net and after reading the solution I am still notsure how I could possibly have figured it out TBH, Solution is here if anyone wants it: There is a Tower in the fort/camp and you have to go up the top of it and light an arrow on fire from the flame up there and aim it at the top of the house, the reticule will turn red when you aim at the right place then shoot it. That will make a hole you can climb through. Did some Flyting and it took a few attempts to get it right. Helped a guy choose to to Captain his Longship by fighting the three candidates, I was not very good at the fighting. Kept trying to block but it didn't seem to work. Played the dice game and it really does take too long but I think I am starting to understand it, had a very narrow loss though. No Pic's Imgur is having issuesBTW dragontartare I am using Nvidia for the screenshots, using ALT F1 is a bit of a pain but it beats just using Photo Mode all the time so thanks for reminding me about it. Pic's Sure I'll beat up your crew to see who is best to captain your longship I still can't quite get the hang of the Flyting, took a few attempts against this guy Just chilling with the locals Having a whale of a time

Ooooh I am not to far off Advanced Assassination. Four more points I think.

That "open a hole in the building" is too complex. Haven't seen the need for flames or such. Buildings have weak point entries, many of them can be destroyed by a simple arrow from anywhere.
Some entries need to be blown up with an oil jar... or the ability "Incendiary powder trap". I swear, I laughed when I saw an elaborate puzzle, involving getting an oil jar through a ton of hoops before you reach the door. I just blew it with the explosive ability - done.

This one you had to hit a point that was not possible from anywhere but up the tower and ther was nothing to indicate it was a weakpoint even when I was standing on the roof right next to it. I really hate when they make these things too complex. I will keep a look out for the explosive ability you mentioned.

So that drengr mystery point near Norway hometown. Outch. I saw the red skull but told myself, I can do it. Took 6 tries. 4 times where I died in like 2 seconds, while one time I just ran out of arrows after stunning him once and got a axe in the face after using my lonely ration. I ended up changing weapon to axe/shield (from two-handed axe). Turns out, shield can block the throwing axes, much easier than dodging them and running out of stamina in the process. And now I have spear...but it's two-handed. I wanted to go spear + shield.

I'm not sure how to answer King Harald. That dang vision saying Eivor would betray Sigurd is like a flapping red flag, casting a shadow over decisions. Second guessing whether one or the other answer would impact that vision. I managed to snag three tattoos now. Visiting the tattooist next time I fire up the game. I wanted to keep playing but I must be prudent. It's time to rest! Ugh these are a damn throwback to the sea shanties in Black Flag, hated them then and not a fan of them now. That said these ones do seem to sit and wait for you at the end unlike the BF ones which would disappear if you didn't catch them midway through the chase. I think the player has about 10 seconds once the paper lands before it zips back to starting point. I'm always successful on the second attempt. One set leads you down a stream. It's better not to follow through the stream since the water slows you down. The pole climb at the end is often a miss. What I did was after the jump down, I ran along the bank, keeping as close as possible. Since I knew where it would land, it's easy to get there on time.

Yep... still in Norway. Now that I've picked up the hidden blade and a few abilities, I'm starting to get back into my AC groove. I think I'll clear Norway completely before moving on. Might as well, I'm pretty close now. Ran into my first big AI bug! During the first raid with your brother, we landed onshore and... enemy detection failed hard. Our raiders ignored everyone, setting fire to everything, while the defenders... just kinda strolled around. Well, since they couldn't detect me, I just walked around happy-stabbing everyone in the fort. Shiv for you... Shiv for you... Shivs for everyone. Lucky you, for me in that quest there were hardly any enemies and I am like wow this is too easy and it was. Suddenly the enemies just started spawning and running out from behind one particular building but they were undetectable and not there before!!!! The raids for me thus far are normal. The ship land, the enemy archers started shooting once the crew was on shore and the enemy soldiers waded in to fight. I usually headed for the archers first before dealing with the soldiers.

I decided to move on to England despite not exploring some of the northern parts of Norway. The rest of the zones are opened. The reason I move on is I'm not liking the constant reminder it's best to be at 200++ power for that area. Sooner or later, I think I'm going to run into trouble I cannot handle. I picked up the treasure map but did not get to it since it's at the northern side. I looked up YT and though there's no fight getting to it, I'll leave it till later. Landed in England and admittedly I'm puzzled by the NPC trader. Is she supposed to be Asian / Chinese? She has my friend's name and it's not pronounced that way. Randvi reminds me so very much of Kassandra; in looks.

Port back to the pier / boat and run back to his stall, the Snake will be there. Great Beast could be referring to the legendary elk. I've not met this NPC, only the one who wants more honor and I led wolves back to him, killed them and that finished the quest. The elk is high up on the mountains though, one of the mysteries.

Eivor will have her revenge soon, but first she will plunder every last one of Kjotve's places.
There was also a weird gigantic elk that was killed. A traitor who was selling former familial items of Eivor, who meet a fast end. A nice warlock and the idiot who wanted to kill him...the idiot died. A 7th son of a 7th son who really shouldn't think about combat too much. Couldn't even manage to kill one wolf. A former raider that went on raids with Eivor years back who wanted to test some people to find his new raiders leader. (A WWE wrestling match. I lost, that big dude just have too many super moves and too much HP, he's practically a boss without the boss bar)
I'm really liking axe+shield right now and the two-handed axe wasn't bad either...but like someone else, I got one-shot by wolf that I couldn't hit while using a two-handed weapon (or something like that, it was weird).
I only have a few more things to clear off in the "normal" section of Norway, then I'm off to off Kjotve. But that will be tomorrow.

I ended up pre-ordering hours before launch. I've been itching to punch my mother-in-law in the head (not really, but you get the point), so I figured this game would be my escape from the hell of having her in my home.
It's okay so far. I switched to Magnus/male Eivor pretty early in the story and connected with the character much better. I love his voice and delivery. I had no problem with the voice actress; I just couldn't tolerate her wiry frame in the over-sized clothing. With male Eivor I find it a bit less off-putting.
The controller layout for PS4 is rubbish. I tried to use it for many hours but it is completely unintuitive. I did finally get used to it, but something minor set me off and I reprogrammed half the buttons to mimic "legacy controls", conflicts be damned. We'll see how it goes.
I like the protagonist, and the story is solid so far. It's fast-moving, which is cool. I've nearly fully explored Norway. I have some of the north left, but I'm conflicted. It's clear that the game intends that I return later. That's fine. Yet, I wonder whether I will miss claiming some weapon or treasure I could've used through many extra hours if I leave now. We'll see.
Anyway, it seems we'll be leaving for "England" soon. I need to go back and kill the drengir Eric first. He whooped my ass immediately upon first meeting him, and I told him I'd return. I will do so before heading east.
There's a lot I'd change about the game. The visuals aren't nearly as crisp as Origins or Odyssey on PS4Pro. (After 6 years, Unity remains the best looking AC game ever.) Maybe this is because the game isn't as optimized for the platform? The controls are rubbish, and the overall aesthetic is mostly fantasy. Alsoz what's up with the obscured skill trees? What does that add to the game? Still, even with all of my gripes, I'm sure it will keep me entertained.
From what I've seen of high-level combat from JorRaptor, this game is as fantastical as Odyssey. They should've just kept the "demigod leaping off mountains" stuff if we are going to be dual-wielding greatswords. Sigh.
Oh well. I feel like I'm rambling, so I'm going to stop. I need to get some sleep.

I was split between exploring and acquiring an ally. I decided to do one of the two allies; Grantebridge.
When doing an ally quest, it's best to follow through and finish the entire questline. The Grantebridge Alliance took about four hours or more. Of which I have to find the traitor in Soma's midst. Again, it's best to follow throw the clues until the end before doing the three missions with Soma's Council. Following the clues right up to where the longship is confirms the traitor so you don't have to do any guess work. Picking out the wrong person could affect Soma's regard for Eivor.
At the end of it, I have acquired 2100 raw materials and 100 supplies. Upgrading is expensive though. The forge is the first, the Assassins HQ next. Eivor just learned leap of faith. I also acquired two of another type of armour; Hunter outfit. The chest and the boots. Have also acquired more abilities. Three for bow, two for melee.
With the first alliance acquired, I'm now free to roam around the Grantebridge area and clear out other missions. I've to watch out though, there's a mercenary out for Eivor.

When I did it gave an "echo" for lack of a better word, a green one which when I have come across before Eivor would make a comment. However I couldn't find a way yet a response or anything.

Sounds like a quest objective that you haven't got to yet. They often appear before their trigger. I kinda broke one of Asgard's quest this way by following those quest markers before their time. I still finished the quest later, but apparently missed on context.

The traitor is kinda obvious from the rescues. I didn't need more clues than that, but still followed them all for fun. While most people will build the Assassin bureau first, I'd recommend doing the stables and buying all mount upgrades. If you are an explorer, then the bureau can definitely wait and the mount will be much more useful. And Dazk, build those Barracks at last, so you can recruit my viking and give me pocket change as rent. I promise I will recruit your guy/girl too 😜

I did the fortress yesterday I think and I don't recall a quest related item in a building. Could be I don't have the quest. So when you were there did you use Odin Sight? When I did it gave an "echo" for lack of a better word, a green one which when I have come across before Eivor would make a comment. However I couldn't find a way yet a response or anything. Yes I did but I don't recall any other objective than taking the bad guy so all that came up for me were the treasure and mob locations.

Are zealots invisible beings? I went past a whole bunch of dumb brown bears and killed them. They totally ignored the zealot. Only one dropped leather. Then Mr Zealot just walked through a bandit camp and nobody touched him.

Then Mr Zealot just walked through a bandit camp and nobody touched him. Obviously they learned some lessons from Odyssey. Since all Zealots have a death cutscene, the developers wouldn't want you to miss on the fight. How many cultists were killed by animals, bandits, etc in Odyssey 😂
