Started to re-watch BSG (2003 to 2009; Edward James Olmos, Tricia Helfer aka EDI et al) and it is so good. The only thing I remember really not liking-- infact hating-- was when they killed off Dee. Why? Why her? I liked her! And what point did it serve? It was about that time that I stopped watching it.

THIS is the ENDING that always should have happened.....As much as I didn't mind the Extended Cut (or whatever it's called,I forget) with all the DLC (the Party was amazing especially if you romanced Jack)....And I can agree with Shepard dying in the end for the cause she/he always fought for (you kinda had to know it was a one-way trip).....As a Gamer who is a total sap for a Happy Ending.....THIS is the ending that should have been there from the start. In my own "head canon" (and for the purposes of my story that I am currently working on)....THIS is my ending. Destroy (with Shepard and all remaining crew surviving except for Jacob, because he was useless). www.rockpapershotgun.com/mass-effect-legendary-edition-now-has-its-own-happy-ending-mod

Just finished watching the 2004 Remake of Battlestar Galactica.....and all I have to say is, wow. What a beautiful series. Could you say that it was 'weird' sure. Especially with all the Cylon tech. But you could say the same thing about when they introduced the Borg into Star Trek TNG. But BSG on a whole....it's definitely SCI-FI for sure...But there's something beautiful about it.
Honestly, for the scripting, the acting, the episodic storylines (and the story line as a whole series) I would put it right up there with TNG as one of the best TV series in the last 30, 40 years (bearing in mind that TNG first aired on September 28th of 1987. '87. And it had some ground-breaking work especially in terms of VFX and Filming, but was coming hot on the heels of the much-loved ill-fated Original Series which at the time when TNG came out some critics said oh this new one won't hold a candle to the Original but TNG attracted actors like Sir Patrick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes...and a young Levar Burton who was coming off of his own shot to stardom when he filmed ROOTS as a 22 year old USC Grad.....So TNG definitely had the star power. And it soon became the most successful SCI FI TV series to date. Even now some 26 years after its Conclusion...it's still held as the Bar for all other STAR TREK programs to meet.
Likewise...BSG 2004, in my mind, held that same bar...had that same potential, carried that same weight and made the same impact.

Rewatching ST: Voyager for the first time in well over a decade. I The problem I had is they never did an upscale for it, so it looks terrible on almost anything. However, with my laptop waiting on a part, I’m watching Netflix on my tablet Picture in Picture, a super tiny moveable player, while I play Civ VI. I’ve taken this “opportunity” to rewatch it as it doesn’t matter what the quality is. I’m not paying super close attention, mostly just enjoying it as fluff I haven’t seen in a while. It’s my least favourite trek. I’m midway season 3, so I’m vaguely remembering that things pick up the pace a bit. They just found the first deceased Borg body in the last ep I watched and I remember somewhat enjoying the Borg and 8472 arc. I completely forgot how off-the-walls Q is in Voyager. It’s by far the brightest highlight of my rewatch.

Last night I slept during and was otherwise distracted while watching The Eternals...only to glance up and notice that in 25 minutes to 1 hour, nothing important happened. It wasn't a "bad" movie, it was just mind-numbingly BORING. The kind of movie you could fall asleep while watching, wake up and realize that in the past 40 minutes nothing worthwhile happened. I also fastforwarded through the last 50 minutes because for me it was like watching Frodo and Sam climb that damned mountain at the end of Return of the King. It took FOREVER (or in this case...an ETERNITY). I was thinking C'mon! Either just kill each other or just die and get it over with already! It was just a down-right boring movie. And I'm not talking about the pacing of the filong, there was something else. Normally I have really enjoyed MARVEL movies...Ragnarok was the first movie I can say I did not like, and I was sure that that would be the only title....Until now. I can't explain how disapointingly boring this was. And don't get me started on the voice-over at the end by an actor I do not like. In my mind Wesley Snipes is the only actor to inhabit the role of BLADE and his movies are the only ones that need to exist. I know there is precedence for BLADE interacting with other Marvel characters (Spider-Man comes to the forefront of my mind) but I am really not keen on seeing him inhabit the same world and fight along side The Avengers. The MCU is just getting tooo big and crazy. And Thanos' brother "Star Fox" ? I heard that name and I immediately though to myself "STAR FOX is an SNES character (see link en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Fox_(1993_video_game). And I should have figured that they would use the name "Eros" because they've already played with a host of other names from Greek Myth. But if Thanos is dead (at the end of End Game) why is his brother here? I'm guessing that EVERY marvel character is now going to team-up (AVENGERS Style) to take down this new BIg Bad Arimesh........................yay. The only reason I watched Eternals was because of Lauren Riddloff's character Mahkari......and everyone has said that her character has a crush on Druig (but that actor was....creepy. His character was...creepy. I don't see why that had to happen, and I personally didn't see such wonderful "crushing" type chmestiry between the two actors or their characters. There was better on-screen chemistry between Geema Chan and her real-life friend Richard Maddon. Anyway...There aren't enough word in the English language to say how disappointed I was in that movie, so I will stop rambling.

Gave Cobra Kai a chance, and ended up plowing through the first season in a single Saturday.
There are so many different ways this series should have turned out flat and lame, and somehow it didn't. Was afraid that they'd just turned the old dynamic around and made Daniel LaRusso a jerkoff and Johnny Lawrence a sympathetic underdog, but both characters impossibly seem to be treated with respect - while at the same time being fallible dumbasses because they're still just guys - and both sensei are actually portrayed as trying to walk a path that offers something important and meaningful and necessary... to different people, at different stages of their journeys through life.
Big fan.

The second season i fast forward many times because i was done watching this crap. Interesting. I thought season 1 was excellent. A bit too liberal with the prison rape, but that aside; very good. The problem they had was what to do once they...you know, broke out of prison. Really, it should have wrapped mid-way through season 2. But then they were on the run. And then...well, just in case...you decide to make your life worse by watching more... ...they were in the mexican prison. And then they got out of the mexican prison... And then there was the Thing That Controlled The Weather And Started Everything In The First Place...you know *that old chestnut*. A classic example of not knowing what the finish line looks like before starting the race.

A classic example of not knowing what the finish line looks like before starting the race. Me and some friends used to do watch-parties. Prison Break was a favourite. I enjoyed season 1, and was surprised they did a good job with 2. I was also wondering how they’d manage the plot after the obvious. Season 3 was a flaming nightmare of repetition and ridiculousness. IIRC, it was a network and business end SNAFU, not on the creators. But because I watched it as a group we had a fun time poking at it. I don’t remember much about 4 other than it being alright but couldn’t pull it back together.

Just finished watching "Tick...Tick...BOOM!" The Story of Jonathan Larson, the Creator of "RENT" (with Andrew Garfield, Alexandra Shipp and Vanessa Hudgens). It was sad, but quite good. I knew the story so I knew how it would end...But the story was good, I even enjoyed the music (and if indeed that was Andrew Garfield singing.....Wow, can he sing!)
Now I want to watch "RENT"

As I said in my post above, I was going to watch RENT....and I did. The 2005 movie version (with most of the Original Broadway cast except for Mimi played by my girl but she don't know it, Rosario Dawson, and Traci Thoms who played Joanne). I saw the Toronto Production of RENT...and it was extremely disappointing. So bad,in fact, that 3/4s of the Theater cleared out at Intermission (no joke). It was nothing like the Broadway version nor the Movie. The movie is so good. I haven't watched the movie in several years because I had over-watched it so much during the first few years it was released and after 2008 when I saw the horrible stage production. It's probably been a decade since I last watched the movie, i had forgotten how good the music was. I sang along with every song, stil knowing all the words...and I even found myself tearing up towards the end.
Definitely a favourite as far as Movie Musicals go.

Archive 81 on Netflix. The less you know about it the better; just watch the first episode, and you'll know if it's your thing or not. Don't watch the trailer even, just dive right in. Genre is horror/thriller, so you've been warned.

By the man who created 'Downton abbey'. We liked the first episode. Very much character driven drama with good characters. and loads of 'Upstairs/Downstairs' plotting.

WIth ARchive 81 it is even the way, the story is told. Lovecraft often used the element of a story inside a story like with Dan and Melody.

Some of the X-FIles episodes hae some lovecraftian vibe too. X-files definitely is Lovecraftian. Spoilers for Achive 81: IMHO some of the best X-files episodes were those where the mystery remained unsolved.
I loved it, that A81 didn't reveal it's secrets too early: Was it all just mass hysteria? Was Dan seeing things or mentally unstable? Was everyone on shrooms/mold?

And I have to say about Archive 81 that
I appreciate, how level headed some of the characters, Dan esepcially, acted. Dan would have had all the excuses for another nervous breakdown, but he was calm right to the end, when he saw Khalego manifesting in teh screens and starts to destroy the equipment - and even that made sense. Khalego was only manifesting in the screens and monitors, so it seems logical to destroy them. I didn't really liek Khalego himself, he wasn't very scary as a creature - Cthulhu, Shub Niggurath, Nyarlathothep and other lovecraftian entities do a better job at that. I would have liked, if they hadn't showed Khalego really, just some shadows, like in the beginning.

I've been curious about Archive81. Netflix was advertising it at me for a while there. But the horror genre doesn't do much for me. Pretty much any movie adaptation of Steven King's bores me to tears. Movies like Saw or Chainsaw Massacre might get a laugh but it's not laughing "with it" so much as "at it" and I'm laughing at the points other people are gasping. It's too gimmicky.
That said, there are horror flicks I've enjoyed.
I liked Tucker and Dale vs Evil, Slither, and Cabin in the woods.
Also thought Seven and The Exorcism of Emily Rose were done well, but aren't really the type of movies I'd watch today.
If there's a really strong sci-fi or fantasy plot it might keep me interested, liked Event Horizon, Life, Sunshine, and kind of liked Underwater. I watched a lot of Helix, had high hopes Ronald Moore (BSG Reboot showrunner) would have something interesting but the plot meandered as did my interest.
