I've got nothing against Ikea per se, but are you sure they meet your specs? and buy a table top while you are at it?
No. Ikea Alex in design only. The table top and drawers at the end and a table leg in the middle of the middle. Forced to go 46x24 Table Top. Supposedly its very dense particle board that again supposedly will support 300lbs. I for one am no taking a chances and ordered two of the tops below and will screw together then screw on to the end dressers below that and put the leg below the dressers in the middle of the middle for support. Any way that is the plan: So Ikea Alex in design but actually using Ikea?..... No.

Well when I started there were none of these issues. Sometimes we must handle what arises before we can have our fun. C'est la vie... You're still using your FX-8370 rig though. Why not just finish the build, migrate all your stuff to the new PC, and put the FX-8370 PC in storage? Because its my primary computer and partially a source of income. I do not think it wise to remove it till I take the time off and build the new system and get it running. Remember I have to heavily modify the Operating System which could take 12-24 hours -I hate registry work but necessary. Also where this desk is -is the only "Safe" building location right now. I will need to "chop" this one to get it out of here and build the other in its place. Think Paul's Hardware viewable garage setup but only 1/2 the size. I may be able to increase that if I remodel... NO! resealing is all I am going to do. All the components I have gotten are sitting in the attic at the moment -except the Motherboard and CPU they are in the refrigerator.

Remember I have to heavily modify the Operating System which could take 12-24 hours -I hate registry work but necessary. That really sounds like a pain in the ass. You should do a clean install of Windows like Windows 10 Ameliorated but without any drivers. Then proceed to modify the registry, install Open Shell, etc. After you're done with everything, make an image of the drive as a backup. So if anything goes wrong, you can easily use the image backup to get your PC running again. It's a great time saver especially if you own multiple PCs. Whenever I build a new PC, I just simply migrate the image to the SSD on the new PC, install the drivers, and it's all set. It's so easy and it's perfect for you because you don't even use Windows Update.

It's so easy and it's perfect for you because you don't even use Windows Update. It is a pain in the teeth, head, neck, torso, hips, legs, and feet, ect. Yes I know of what I call the Windows 10 Amp edition. However I don't use it since its Windows 10 Pro N and Win 10 Enterprise is what I use for the more control over the Policy Editor, Edge Removal, Cortana Removal, Store Removal and Virtualization. If not for those I would use it. I tried making an image once and it did work... till it didn't. Remember the issue I had trouble with a long while back: Run a program exe and it would instantly go corrupted and file size would change and the program would not even run. The program would have to be restored from a zipped back up. Well I narrowed it to an image and also a clone of the OS. Fresh installs the only thing so far that have not caused issues there. Again it may be due to so much data that led to corruption in the clone or image files.

So the strange *flahy-thiny* bheviour has been plaguing my PC as of late for the last few weeks, off/on....I completely cleaned my the insides of my PC with a soft vacuum brush removing as much dust as I possibly could. Next I vacummed my keyboard and removed as much debris from the keys as I could.
When it happened, as was suggested by my IT Guy at work...I unplugged my keyboard from its USB port and left it. Strangely enough for about 90 seconds it still continued to happen even when the keyboard was not plugged in (which you would think it the keyboard was the culprit, it would immediately vanish for good), but it did not. So that leads me to believe that it is not the keyboard).
So I have plugged the keyboard bback in to type this message....and thus far, no flashy-thingy. However, my dad has suggested that I completely try a different keyboard.....which I know some of you have suggested, but if that truly does kick the problem....then that means an expensive keyboard is garbage and it is only 3 years old.
The Saga continues.....
SO I now have switched to an older Logitech Wireless KB/M that I've borrowed from my dad....and thus far........ ABSOLUTELY ZERO *flashy-thingy* SO.....That now leads me to believe that the USB ports (maybe all 4 of them) are somehow buggered or at least outdated.
Should I RMA my Board???
Only downside is now that I am using a wireless Keyboard, I only have , I think 2 at the most out of 4 USB ports on my case that are actually functioning because I only have 1 header on my Z490 Master (which sucks, because on the Phoenix SLI which was the same price when IT was brand new....there were 2 Headers so all four front-facing case ports could be used).
Sacrifices.

The Saga continues Interesting. I am having a problem on my old PC, which I now lovingly call "Revenge" - the front USB ports will charge, but will not work for data transfer. They worked on windows, so I assume this is an issue with a Linux USB driver and possibly something deeper, as this old motherboard has some "features" that really suck but seemed great at the time.
Your situation seems a little more straightforward than mine... I suspect a physical issue with your USB assembly.
Pick up a USB voltmeter, they can be as cheap as 5 bucks but I am going to buy the Klein for ~ 35USD. I don't suspect there is anything physically wrong with my port, but it is a part of the troubleshooting process and even though I don't believe it will help me with my problem, I want one anyway.
To me, it seems like a loose wire or solder point. Could be a driver issue.... do you know which root hub that USB belongs to?

Sacrifices. First take note of the USB slot that the wireless controller for the keyboard is in. Is it the same as the keyboard and isn't giving problems? If so then it most likely IS the keyboard. Sometimes expensive things can be crap. That all said I would first suggest updating the motherboard chipset and drivers to the latest the motherboards' website has if you don't have the meter @gaben7 mentions. IF it returns then try drivers that predate your current ones. Sometimes drivers are bugged. As a matter of fact do you know your specific USB driver? If you do try searching google for your driver and issues with the suspect keyboard. I would do this testing before you chuck an expensive motherboard.

Yes, chucking is the last thing to do.
Last motherboard I chucked did deserve it though, and I went ham on that thing. Never again Fata1ity, never again. That was in 2011.
USB root hub drivers are usually from MS themselves, but check your MB manufacturer site for anything proprietary. In my case, I have a different controller for the ports on the front of the case, and it Marvel. This is my problem, Marvel is garbage... but I might be able to work around it after wasting a couple weeks pottering on it.
Your issue may be in the software. It is the first thing to try and eliminate, but as an electrician I want to check power first because that is easy to test and definitely tells me something.
After your edit, which I am glad I read because lol I was going to suggest a different, basic KB... Yeah, get the meter man.

To answer your question.....The Razer Keyboard was plugged into 1 of the 4 USB 2.0 ports in the back of the Motherboard. And no matter which port I used, in which combination when switching ports with the G502Hero.....It would eventually happen if I waited long enough. Maybe 2 days with nothing....then bam. Maybe 2 hours.... *shrugs*. But the wireless keyboard that I am using at present is plugged into the front of the case. I have 4 USB 3.0 ports and 1 USB 3.1 Type C port on my the front of my CoolerMaster M500H case. With the older X99 Phoenix SLI having two Headers, I could use all for front-facing case ports. But the newer Z490 Master in spite of being the same original MSRP (499.99 CAD) only has a single Header, so I can only use 2 of the four ports on the front of the case. I wonder though if I plugged the Razer into the front of the case if that would solve the problem. It would be most inconvenient and look like hell....But that would tell me that the 4 ports on the back are outdated or buggered.

So today (February 12th) will mark my first full day using the wireless keyboard/mouse (plugged into the front USB ports of my case). I will use this set-up for a while and monitor the behaviour. After a week or two, I may bring out my Razer Keyboard and also plug it into the front of the case....If the behaviour remains clean, that will definitely indicate that the ports at the back are messed up in some way. For now, this is a satisfactory workaround.

And so it does. Have you tried a different PSU? And no, I don't wanna hear how good your PSU is, I want to know if you've ever swapped it? Because this kind of intermittent behavior is typical for a faulty capacitor in the 5V rail.

They worked on windows, so I assume this is an issue with a Linux USB driver I believe that's your answer right there. Have you Googled the driver for details? Linux drivers have a knack for being funny sometimes.

Since changing the keyboard to the wireless logitech (which isn't the greatest, I much prefer my Razer) and plugging it into the front ports......the behaviour has vanished!

the behaviour has vanished! I'd say it has vanished for now. It has come back before. Yes but that was because I was persistently using the rear USB ports.....I think this is proof that the rear ports are FUBAR'D

I still would suggest checking you motherboards USB drivers and let us know the version your using. As a matter of fact get me the driver number and I will look into the drivers validity.

Haven't you guys finished building your computer yet?????? 76 pages and 2 and a half years? Did you not read the thread? Now I'm working on Hogwarts Legacy. First this is the best... no. The only real tech thread that the BSN has. Mr. Fish though probably sees that this thread is titled End Of Year and thinks the thread should have ended two years ago when the year ended.

.I think this is proof that the rear ports are FUBAR'D It may well be. I sincerely hope that is the case, even if it means that your board is faulty. But only time will tell.

I'd say it has vanished for now. It has come back before. Yes but that was because I was persistently using the rear USB ports.....I think this is proof that the rear ports are FUBAR'D Another thing you can do is plug in a USB hub into front USB and wrap the hub via the USB connection wire to the back of the machine. Now back USB slots are replaced. Then you can duct tape the front connection black and thus it will blend together and be not as noticeable. www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Charging-Ports-Adapter-HB-U930/dp/B00SIQIV04/ref=sr_1_57?crid=2D5JIJPZC1J5D
