Hi Vanguard.  Thank you very much for your detailed reply.  While that video does show the flashing in Chrome....It was an older video, and most recently, the same problems have been ocurring in Edge which I have been using exclusively for the last year since Summer of 2022.  But, again, thankyoufor your in-depth reply....I will re-read your reply more thoroughly at a later time and be sure to account for any fixes, such as USB - related stuff, as I am heading to bed in just a moment.

But thankyou for your reply.  I am glad to hear that you have seen this behaviour before.....I am also glad to hear that you belieive it to be a USB Driver issue, not a bad port....so in this case the fix is manageable, and doesn't or won't require drastic measures like an RMA.  I will definitely attend to this next weekend.

PS:  I hate Chrome, too. I much prefer MS Edge, though the problem has most recently been happening with Edge too...though it might also be hardware accleration related, too....all these thigns and more I will check out very thoroughly next weekend.  For now, you have my thanks.

And years ago (I'm talking about 15, 20 years ago) I used Firefox exclusively because I didn't like MS Explorer at the time.  But with Firefox (and my then current AV suites ESET NOD32 and later, AVG) I was always getting viruses.  Plus other browser-related issues with Firefox.  So I later switched to Google Chrome, which I liked for a while.....But for the past year or two I have been exclusively using Edge which I like.   Yes it is a resource hog, and I'm sure if I nitpicked and spent time really investigating it I could come up with other things I don't like about it.  But I do find it better than Chrome.

Moving on though, next weekend when I have the chance to turn on my PC I will uninstall Chrome, and check to see if Edge uses or is using Hardware Acceleration.  If that is the case, I will uncheck that box to stop the process....maybe even try to reset Edge to its 'factory defaults', see if that helps.

And I will also roll back my USB Drivers from Gigabyte....I have the disk that came with the board when I bought it....But I can also find the older drivers on their website, so I will uninstall and then roll back my USB Drivers.  *Paws, Feet, Ears and Drumsticks all crossed.....Hoping that solves this issue for good*

My current AV Suite is the best there is:  Bitdefender Total Security (2023).  I've been using Bitdefender exclusively since 2011 and never had any viruses, worms, trojans, rootkits or any other form of nastiness.  It's been the best I've ever used, and the top-rated for the past 15 years.


But I agree with your statement about AVG; I say the same about Norton/Symantec.  That was my first suite, and it basically hung a HUGE, bright neon sign on my PC that says "PLEASE!  COme and infect me!  Infect me with everything nasty bit of malware out there!"  I"ve toyed with other programs like Malwarebytes, and I liked it....But it didn't always do a good job at detection of things you might expect.

I"ve used Norton/Symantec, AVG, NOD32, Kaspersky, Norton, McAfee (which was as bad as Norton), GData, Malwarebytes....and the only suite I've had positive success with is Bitdefender since 2011.

But since 2011 I've been malware-free using Bitdefender....and I'll never use anything else.
