Just continue, please! Very nice instruction. By the "toolset" you mean the one that comes with DAO, right?
Possibly the Origin or Steam version come with the Toolset, I don't know.
I still use the disc version and had to download the DragonAgeToolset separately.
But yes, that's the one.
There is a link to it at the top of the first post.
If your on Windows 10 you will get a warning that it is not compatible with Win 10, but I just ignored that and it seems to work fine.
Now you have the Toolset working and you need to know the morph name for the particular NPC you are changing.
Start the toolset, and by default you will be working on Demo Tutorial (See it at the top of the screen)
Click on File > Manage Modules (Note: you can click on these images to see them full sized if you cant read the writing.)
Then Single Player
Then in the Palette Window, click on Creatures (the red icon, top and centre)
Now we want to change Iona (Lady Landra's hand maid from the Human Noble Origin), so we expand Background-Human Noble.
Then expand bhn100ar_castle_cousland.
Then double click on bhn100cr_iona (Iona)
To the left of the picture of Iona, scroll down until you see Head Morph.
In Iona's case, her head morph is just her creature name without the cr for creature & ef_ added to the front, as all morphs start with race and sex.
This is the most common, although many retain the cr & just add the race and sex in front.
Once you have saved the elf you created as ef_bhn100_iona.mrh, and exported it as ef_bhn100_iona.mor, (Export.mop file False)
The next time you start the toolset and look in Single Player, your Iona will be pictured.
There are a few who's head morphs (like the Dwarf Commoners Mother) are completely different than their Tag or Resourse Name, so be sure to scroll down and check the Head Morph line.
Once you make a note of the Head Morph name, you go File> Manage Modules > Demo Tutorial.
Well this is where I created my first head morph and never bothered to change it.
If you wanted to make your Morphs available to others, you might want to create them in a new Module.
Lucy's Better Heads.
So you would go File> Manage Modules> New
Put in the name of your mod (In this case My Head Morphs)
and in the line UID, I put MyHeadMorphs (without the spaces, or you could use underscores My_Head_Morphs)
Then OK
Then File> Manage Modules> My Head Morphs> Open
And create your head morphs in there.
Then when you start the game, go to Installed Content and tick My Head Morphs, instead of Demo Tutorial.
If your Iona doesn't look quite right in the harsh light of Cousland Castle, you open your ef_bhn100_iona.mrh
and make a few subtle changes, then right click on the morph creation screen an post to local. (or Tools>Export>Post to Local)
Sometimes hair mods show up in the toolset looking like this:
But don't worry they will look right in the game.
You might want to choose a stock hair until you choose the colour, and then choose the modded hair.
Also, sometimes when you make a beautiful face in the toolset and save it as a .mop (Export.mop file True)
When you see him/her in the character creator the eyes or nose may look nothing like the ones you made.
Fear not, the ones you made will be there, probably on the far right or left of the eye or nose slider.
Also custom tattoos on a .mop often don't show correctly in the character creator.
In that case I usually start the game with no tattoo, and then edit my saved game to add the .mor file with the tattoo.
Ok, now you have created your PC in the toolset and saved her as df_cps_p03.mrh.
Then you exported her as df_cps_p03.mop
In game you where happy with the way you looked, well Leske tried to cop a feel so you must be alright, right?
But then you get into the wilds, and by the stone, Human girls are so skinny.
This hairdo makes me look like a boofhead. (They're all staring at me.)
So you save your game, as something you remember (In this case Wrong Hair.)
Then you open df_cps_p03.mrh in the toolset, give yourself a hairdo that looks slimming, and export as a .mor
Now you may have noticed that the scalp in the second pic is white, with some modded hair it is very noticeable, especially along joins.
So now we have two things to do, fix her scalp colour, and get her into your saved game.
We do both with a GffEditor.
So you go to the Directory with your Toolset. (In my case E:\Games\Dragon Age\tools)
And look for GffEditor.exe, Double click on that.
Then go File>Open File, and browse to your saved game.
If you have more than one hard save, it will be in the last slot.
In my case Documents>BioWare>Dragon Age>Characters>Natia>Saves>Slot_2>WrongHair.das
Expand SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR, and then expand SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR_CHAR
Scroll down and expand SAVEGAME_APPEARANCE
In the line SAVEGAME_APPEARANCE_MORPH_NAME put df_cps_p03 (Or the name of your .mor)
Then save the file (Overwriting WrongHair.das or whatever your save was called.)
Then to fix the scalp (if you used modded hair)
Go File> Open and browse to Documents>BioWare>Dragon Age>AddIns>DEMO>Core>Override>toolsetexport>df_cps_p03.mor (Or your morph name) (And DEMO will be replaced with the name of your morph mod if you didn't stick with Demo Tutorial.)
Then expand MORPH_TINTFILENAMES
Go down to number 11, and edit it to match number 3
So in this case I just remove the t1_stb to make it match the pt_har_bn3 of number 3
Click on save.
Start your game and see the new you. (No ones staring at my fat head)
I could have slimmed down the face a little, but I still want to look full bodied for any topside Dwarf sheilas.
