I need a replacement battery for my ancient 2013 HP ELITEBOOK 8570W......I am constantly getting a warning screen that says my original battery is nearing maximum capacity and lifespan, and if I want my laptop to continue to perform in optimal performance ranges, I should replace the battery.
Trouble is, I don't know where to buy one. I've found a bunch on Amazon but they are third-party brands, and not necessarily stamped for approval by HP though the description does say they are compatible with my model. However, reading the reviews they all have horrible reviews of 1 to 3 STARS.....so I'm not sure which one to choose. I'm not sure which cell count to choose either, I am tempted to go with an 8-cell configuration...but I am going to take the battery out and check the P/N and S/N to find out which it is.
1) Superb Choice® 8-cell HP EliteBook 8560w, 8570w, 8760w, HP HSTNN-IB2P, QK641AA, HSTNN-I93C, 632114-141 Laptop Battery
2)AC Doctor INC Laptop Battery for HP EliteBook 8560w 8570w 8760w 8770w Mobile Workstation, 5200mAh/14.8V/6-Cells
Can anyone else recommend a good replacement battery brand for my HP Elitebook 8570W?
EDIT: As of 4:30 pm ET.....Got off the phone with a very nice, helpful Customer Service Rep from the HP office down in San Antonio, TX who, after taking down my S/N, P/N and model....He knew exactly the model and year of workstation I was looking at and he was very knowledgeable about it, but because of the age of the unit, unfortunately (yet understandably) they no longer manufactured the batteries, and he recommended a third-party battery. I asked him "I'm not concerned about the warranty of course, but would there be any risk of harm if I used a third-party battery...given that the underside of the original battery in my hand states very specifically to "Replace ONLY with HP replacement parts" ?"
To which he replied, "That's a valid question...and there are cases in some types of branded electronics where that may very well be the case. But as I said we here at HP no longer make the batteries, so you kind of don't have any choice but to go with a third-party branded battery. Not to mention that if third party products did cause harm to people's equipment, they wouldn't be selling them for very long. Plus, even though they are a offshore, after-market company....the batteries they make still have to pass rigorous testing and in some way get HP's stamp of approval that they work successfully with the specified unit models. All that being said, speaking as someone who works for HP....I am giving you assurance that you won't have any issues matching a third party battery with our unit."
And I would rather spend 35.00 CAD on a replacement battery than forking over all the extra money I would have to spend on an equivalent newer model workstation from CanadaComputers or the like. When my Elitebook 8570W was brand new on the market in June of 2012, 2013.....It retailed for 2,999.99 CAD. The guy I bought it from gave it to me for 1199.99 so I got a great detail on it. Now even though it is nearing 9 years old in terms of technology age....I really haven't used it that much since my years in College between 2012-2014....so I am not looking for a fancy new toy. I can certainly see this lasting for another 10 years if I continue to take care of it.
