"Keighley said this year’s show will definitely see more trailers for things that aren’t video games, but are rather video games adjacent, like a television show or movie inspired by or recreating a video game".
Maybe there's a chance we might see mass effect there.

I've heard from multiple people that it is safe to assume that Bioware will be a no show. It could be a surprise, but that's what I heard.

It's official, Henry Cavill isn't working a Mass Effect show/movie.

He made a great Geralt.
Would have made a great Shepard as well.
Watch some pipsqueak like Tom Cruise get cast! Ha!
(My apologies to all the other pipsqueaks out there...)

So he's not Superman anymore, not Geralt anymore and doesn't get to be a player in ME. Very sad.

1) James Gunn getting rid of him as Superman is a really, really smart move and gives me some hope for the DCEU.
2) Don't care about The Witcher franchise as a whole.
3) Cavil not being in ME show or movie see 1.
4) Last I heard he was going to be Warhammer 40K project see reply 2.
Look he's pretty looking white guy so I'm pretty sure he'll land a project that only demands him to look pretty and give another cold and distant performance. I mean hell Chris Pine still gets work and he's not even half as good looking Henry Cavil is.

I cannot access this, need to be a member of the blog? Can you provide the article text or a synopsis, even 12ft.io can't penetrate that ridiculous paywall
edit -
So he's not Superman anymore, not Geralt anymore and doesn't get to be a player in ME. Very sad. 1) James Gunn getting rid of him as Superman is a really, really smart move and gives me some hope for the DCEU. This is an opinion. Care to share why it is a good one? Look he's pretty looking white guy so I'm pretty sure he'll land a project that only demands him to look pretty and give another cold and distant performance. I mean hell Chris Pine still gets work and he's not even half as good looking Henry Cavil is What? Is there any question about Superman's canonical "white"ness? (He is actually a space alien, checkmate race-baiters) What are you getting at? Why was it a good move for Gunn? Who will be a better casting? I might agree with you to some extent, if I had a clue what your reasons were. At face value, seems like you have a weird petty axe to grind.

I can’t read it either, but I assume it has to do with some rumours/reports about Cavill that have surfaced. Apparently his behaviour on Witcher and a few other sets left much to be desired. No suggestions - that I have seen - that he was acting inappropriately towards women, or anything, but more aggression and ego -tripping around the place. There are suggestions that him leaving Witcher wasn’t *totally* his idea.
Not sure I believe any of it, but if true, it would be pretty disappointing, as he’s always seemed pretty cool.

Sour grapes from the writers, who have way too much power in the industry. Their ego is the real issue, and trying to deal with an actor who knows the source material and respects it. It is all bullshit. He was the reason anyone gave a shit about The Witcher as a TV show, if Hemsworth was the original casting lol it would never have been picked up. This is a case of history being written by the victors, except replace victors with rich and powerful. The industry is a dumpsterfire.

Because he seemed like a guy that didn’t eat people…

The fact that they begged viewers to keep watching the Witcher show and that their upcoming new show was dumped on by critics speaks volumes (it got a score of 39% on rotten tomatoes I believe).

It was a public available article, no paywall/subscription thing.
Strange that the Cavill article is offline now.
Especially since it was more of a summarizing reports from various sources that showed a pattern of behavior over a longer time. (I don't know about the trustworthiness of the multiple different articles that were referenced/linked in this piece) on the top of my head I remember reading about: - not respectful behavior towards women on multiple occasions (on set, during interviews/podcasts)
- toxic behavior the Witcher set- especially towards production leads/staff women, wanting more/full creative control, Netflix giving him a final warning after investigations
- dating a teenager, about half his age
- him being / becoming a gamer bro (think language, erratic behavior, being unprepared on set and apparently towards the end of his Witcher sting actively hindering/slowing down production)
I didn't care about his DCU Superman, nor do I care about the Witcher (game or series - just not my kinda thing).
Think only saw him in "Man from U.N.C.L.E" and after looking his movies up also on Mission Impossible Fallout.
Any Mass Effect live action adaption will have it's big challenges anyway already - from story/setting (ahem choices and decisions), femshep or mshep (if Commander Shepard is involved), is it an adaption of a game or the trilogy, or just based on ME - kinda it's "Silverscreen" thing like Halo etc.
- so any additional baggage is not needed and that would certainly include such things as mentioned.

I don’t care too much about the ‘respect the source material’, to be honest. The writer - Beau…something - that spoke out about other writers mocking the books/games apparently wrote the Eskel scene/storyline that had everyone up in arms. So I’ll take his view of things with as large a grain of salt as I can find. And even if both things are true (that he wrote that storyline and the other writers mocked the books), I don’t actually care. If I enjoyed the show, which I did, that is all I care about. I certainly don’t care what the author thinks. And I absolutely do not care what the self appointed gatekeepers of lore on the internet think. I still can’t believe they got the worst Hemsworth to replace Cavill, though. The guy can’t act. Chris Hemsworth’s stunt double - whoever that is - would have been a better choice. But…the writers are the the ‘rich and powerful’ of Hollywood and not the poster boy actor? Maybe the writer/producer, sure, but the rank and file writers? That…seems strange.

This pretty much sums up what I've heard from various reports as well. He's a fan, and is respectful towards the source material, and wants to just make sure most of it is at least respected. A lot of "geek fandoms" are looking to avoid hiring those that are fans or know anything about the lore, because they don't want to be corrected or explained to why it wouldn't work.
This is my fear for the 40k project. While I don't have much knowledge about it, I do know Cavil is a huge fan of it, and if he doesn't get his bid to be someone that is part of the creative decision making, the 40k fans will let Amazon know if the show doesn't do well for lore reasons, and will probably be in turn, called "toxic". Hating to hate is one thing; pointing out actual problems with established lore (or just straight up ignoring it) is something else entirely.

If I remember right Cavill is also one of the producers as well. Also, it's not just the fans Amazon has to worry about, it's GW as well. They're very protective of their IPs.

Who are these rank and file writers? Introduce me to them please, I could learn a thing or two from them.
(They exist, sorry for the snark. The reality is, most people that get "writer" credits are also producing the show these days. There is no difference, they are the same person, in most cases)

Especially since it was more of a summarizing reports from various sources that showed a pattern of behavior over a longer time. (I don't know about the trustworthiness of the multiple different articles that were referenced/linked in this piece) Please name one of these sources. Just one. The one I find is this - www.marca.com/en/lifestyle/tv-shows/2022/12/17/639e16e4268e3eab508b4599.htmlThis is exactly sour grapes from a sad writer who felt disrespected because the talent knew the source material better than they did, and consistently called them on it. Oh, my poor poor feelings. The gamerbro stuff, lol. Ok. This is conjecture from some writer, or more likely an AI, that read a headline about his friendship with the absolute batshit Millie Bobbie Brown, who talked about their "adult relationship". Then skipped the article, couldn't even find a TL;dr. That "relationship" was built on "honesty", not them fucking, despite what the big brains on the internet like to decide from reading headlines and skipping articles. His current girlfriend, as far as I know because we don't talk a lot, is 33. Hank is 39. I agree. They should hire Henry Cavill to avoid that!
EDIT - For everyone reading - if you aren't aware that AIs write a lot of the garbage available for reading on the internet, they are. They have simple rules, and composite information. This information is harvested, not verified. Not saying this is exactly that going on, but I am saying it could be and that this stuff happens. Check your sources. Before EDI met Shepard, she was a dangerous nutjob.
