If I remember right Cavill is also one of the producers as well. Also, it's not just the fans Amazon has to worry about, it's GW as well. They're very protective of their IPs. I hope he is; I've only heard that he's trying to be made one. And oh yes, as a wargamer and a TTRPG gamer for some 33+ years, I'm well aware of how protective GW is of their IPs. I'm still not going to hold my breath that this will do well. Time will tell, though. I have some faith that if Cavil is heavily involved in the creative process somehow, then it'll be done correct for the most part.

I don’t care too much about the ‘respect the source material’, to be honest. The writer - Beau…something - that spoke out about other writers mocking the books/games apparently wrote the Eskel scene/storyline that had everyone up in arms. So I’ll take his view of things with as large a grain of salt as I can find. And even if both things are true (that he wrote that storyline and the other writers mocked the books), I don’t actually care. If I enjoyed the show, which I did, that is all I care about. I certainly don’t care what the author thinks. And I absolutely do not care what the self appointed gatekeepers of lore on the internet think. I still can’t believe they got the worst Hemsworth to replace Cavill, though. The guy can’t act. Chris Hemsworth’s stunt double - whoever that is - would have been a better choice. But…the writers are the the ‘rich and powerful’ of Hollywood and not the poster boy actor? Maybe the writer/producer, sure, but the rank and file writers? That…seems strange. Honest question -
Who are these rank and file writers? Introduce me to them please, I could learn a thing or two from them.
(They exist, sorry for the snark. The reality is, most people that get "writer" credits are also producing the show these days. There is no difference, they are the same person, in most cases)
Interesting - didn't know that, thanks. I looked up Beau De Mayo, and you're right - he got a writer credit, but also a 'co-producer' credit on the two episodes he wrote for. Regardless - it doesn't really change much. If the reports about Cavill's behaviour are false (as I think they probably are), then in a showdown with Netflix between him and...pretty much any of the writer/producers (except maybe Hissrich) I doubt very much Netflix will be siding with the writer/producer. And while we still have just one person - De Mayo - claiming that the other writers were all mocking the books/games, I'm going to assume he had an axe to grind at worst, or was simply mistaken at best. And if he was right - and if this disrespect is the reason Cavill chose to leave the show - then I've lost a great deal of respect for Cavill. He has always come across as a complete professional. It was an adaptation. They always change things up. He should have expected this would happen. He should have read scripts prior to agreeing to do the show. There is nothing magical about the Witcher books (or any book or comic series) that makes them above change for another medium.

Especially since it was more of a summarizing reports from various sources that showed a pattern of behavior over a longer time. (I don't know about the trustworthiness of the multiple different articles that were referenced/linked in this piece) Please name one of these sources. Just one. His current girlfriend, as far as I know because we don't talk a lot, is 33. Hank is 39. I agree. They should hire Henry Cavill to avoid that!
EDIT - For everyone reading - if you aren't aware that AIs write a lot of the garbage available for reading on the internet, they are. They have simple rules, and composite information. This information is harvested, not verified. Not saying this is exactly that going on, but I am saying it could be and that this stuff happens. Check your sources. Before EDI met Shepard, she was a dangerous nutjob.
search for the actors name and limit the search time frame to like a week, plenty of other sites now run with parts of that initial story I came across (why would I save it?!).
Now whether you wanna believe any them or not is entirely up to you.
the teenager dating thing is from 2016 going by the dates from the search results and it's not the Stranger Things actress

I have never worked on set with Henry. He might be a ripe ass. What I am saying is the timing is all very convenient. What I do find alarming here is the casual attitude about a man's career possibly getting shredded over something he maybe didn't do. If he is what these articles claim based on a Tweet that was deleted for ...reasons - honestly, feed him dogshit in labor camp where he pushes the wheel around and makes the apple juice. Cut his balls off while we're at it, I feel no compassion for a pedo.
We have very little evidence of any of that. He is an awkward dude that is only good "socially" on screen with direction. In interviews, yeah - he can come off weird. He put Ben Affleck into a coma.

As for your take on the scenario that Cavill left on principal and you dislike this because change is expected - we really have to read his contract and know the details on who was supposed to have final say on certain things. What his input level really was supposed to be. There is a lot of hierarchy in the production office.
As you noticed, Beau is a writer and a producer. Since the last writer's strike, which only benefits the fucking writers - most of them hold PGA cards and if they are writing on a show, they will be producers on it. This does not necessarily mean the writer/producer of any given episode actually has last say on script/production decisions.
Usually, this falls to the Line Producer/Showrunner. This is not always the case though, and depending on how big a deal someone's name is, they can have very little to do with the show and still have a lot to say about it. We don't know if Henry was totally outranked, knew it, and was being a pissant, or if he was actually the boss of what he was saying, and someone else was being pissing about being outranked.
I think I mentioned burning diaper fire? Oh, sorry, dumpster fire. I am changing departments for 2024, going to construction. Taking a significant pay cut, so I can do research. I am going to meticulously account the garbage produced at my facility on a daily basis, categorize and tabulate it. This will hopefully provide me with a good book, where I can set some of these producers lives on fire exposing the disgraceful things you don't want to know about, that goes into making our average repetitive unimaginative filler with the rare occasional bit of entertainment.
Anyways - I have no interest in Henry being Shepard. He is great for James, or a Brute.
