So over in the 'what did you do in DA today' thread, I mentioned the other day that I was working on a hair conversion from Sims 4 to DA: Origins
all in all it's going somewhat well...but I've ran into some problems.
First, head shapes between games are vastly different, so it requires quite some patience and elbow grease to actually get something to fit onto a skull cap Secondly...Sims 4 exports hairstyles with included skull caps of their own, this is especially true with hair that's included with the game, as one can see here  the cap is part of the hairstyle now, custom hairstyles don't include a skull cap (and I tried it out with a few of them)...but I'd love to use this one and make it work.
After two days of struggling and a few restarts this is my current progress with the conversion the orange outline is the skull cap from Origins, so as you can see there's quite some overlap from which I don't know if it'll even translate well into Origins when (and if) I manage to get it inside the toolset and actually working.
I'm a total noob when it comes to modding, I've made head morphs and some minor weapon mods (which can be downloaded on the Nexus), but I've no idea how to continue with this If anyone can point me to a decent (and hopefully up to date) tutorial or anyone patient enough to help me out a bit I'd appreciate it a lot I've already dug up a few tutorials on my own, but most of them are quite outdated

Wow! I've never been able to wrap my brain around anything to do with 3D modeling, but it looks like you are making a good start.  Re tutorials, have you seen Risibisi's blog? She's probably done more high quality ports of hairs to DAO than anyone, and she's very generous with her acquired knowledge: The Hairald of Andraste (that's a link to the subhead for her tutorial posts).

and I have, there's a few tutorials on there that I'm going to try to follow once I've lain the groundwork for the mod itself my biggest issue atm. is just getting it to fit properly with not too many gaps

I wanted to post a little update, I've been following some tutorials best I could and currently... I'm busy copying bone weights  (I'm using a hairstyle from the Qunari update mod to copy the bone weights onto this hairstyle, I'm hoping it'll work  ) there's still a few small gaps between the hair and the head (especially at the temples) but hopefully those won't be too noticeable once the texture sits on top
After that comes the more tedious phase...faces

So...I'm at a bit of a loss to be honest I've been properly following a tutorial, everything's gone well and now...it doesn't
I've finally finished all the necessary steps in order to export my conversion, but something keep going wrong. I also posted on the Nexus forums but no one there has commented on my thread...at all  (bunch of views but nothing much else)
So my current problem is this When I try to replace the hair I get a split second of this and then when I re-import my hairstyle I end up with...this  and it doesn't fit onto the head either I know I must've done something wrong, but I can't figure out what it is
if anyone here has any expertise with exporting things in Blender, please let me know

Okay so...after some trial and error and a new restart, I've been able to fix my little problem what I did is this: I adjusted the hair-mesh to the size and location I wanted, exported it as an obj. file and re-imported it in Blender After that I reapplied the weight paint and resorted the faces again. When I exported it this time around it worked  on to the next step

Okay...so final problem I've managed to get the hair into my game (yay!) but now it's ah...heh, it's a floating yellowy-green...blob  I likely did something wrong...but god knows what it is

Look at it! Look at it!   It works! It actually works!  AAAAHHH!!! I'm so happy I could cry
It's far from perfect, there's still a few gaps between the hair and the scalp (so I'll likely redo it to resize it a bit) but it works! it actually works!
