I'm definitely more interested in Andromeda than anything going on in the Milky Way.

Unfortunatley games are a business and if Andromeda really did fail/ under perform then I would not expect them to make a sequel. I am not sure I would want them to actually. All things come to an end just sometimes that ending is less abrupt and less then ideal then we'd want but I have seen this dance play out too many times to really be...that annoyed by it. Stargate Universe ended on a massively sad cliffhanger/ note. Sure they continued it in comics but since I do not read comics for me the end of the second season was the ending and Sy Fy didn't deem it popular enough to justify continuing. 24, while it went on for a much longer time the ending still felt really cliff hangery to me...but Fox obviously decided that it wasn't worth continuing anymore. GThe point though is if Andromeda does get any sort of a sequel it either means A. Andromeda was not that much of a failure or B. BioWare still thinks they can turn it around despite its reception as they did with DA 2. As for any other Mass Effect option ultimatley we will just have to see. I will be less then enthused by a game that isn't a direct sequel to Andromeda, as I have said elsewhere, but I still love Mass Effect to at least keep an open mind no matter what else happens. To go back to my Stargate analogy despite how they left Universe I still love the franchise to be eager enough to see a new series or movie continuing it...yet also Origins looked like such a crap fest and betrayal of the lore that I just never botered with it. So we'll see...but I'm not going to dismiss any future ME project until we know more. And as a consumer, I have the right to reject a product that does not appeal to me. If Andromeda isn't heavily represented in any way, then I won't buy ME5. Plain and simple. Excatly if ME 5doesn't appeal t om ethen I will simply ignore it and not get it.I will save m ymone yand use it to buy a game that does appeal to me.

People here have a really skewed perspective of what makes a game a "success" or "failure". All the gaming forums in all the world don't even come close to representing the total sum of people who bought and played Andromeda.

All the gaming forums in all the world don't even come close to representing the total sum of people who bought and played Andromeda. The metric by which I’m determining this is BioWare’s own treatment of the property. The only subsequent content it’s gotten is a shitty book, and from the looks of it, got totally abandoned to presumably chase the nostalgia rainbow. If the game was a “success” by whatever standard BioWare is holding to, would we really be going to another game that isn’t a follow-up?

I am krogan I guess. I think MEA had created a lame setting, characters, story. But it has fans so it would be nice if they got their game. I would have no interest in it unless they changed it so much the fans of MEA would probably no longer care for it. So for me personally I'd want a return to the MW, does not have to be Shepard for me(though holy fuck did thy step in it with their preview thing, because a lot of fans are now expecting Shepard). Why, becuase it actually has a good setting. In the next game I'd freaking memory hole MEA and its epic shit on the lore and setting of mass effect. Then later on continue MEA as an alternate reality spin off where that shit somehow makes sense for the setting and lore. Since we don't know what BioWare is doing I am going to just speak for what would make me happy as someone that was "fine" with Andromeda. I don't need a direct sequel like the Mass Effect games, just something that gives the 100 foot overview and continues with that. So something that takes place in a Andromeda that is compatible with what we were given in Mass Effect: Andromeda maybe keeping one or two characters (Drak would be enough for me) and the setting would be enough for me while acknowledging the Ryders are off doing something else or cannot be active due to the risk of furthering their brain injuries. Then write the rest of the game around those basic concepts.

AskAGameDev calls it the 70/25/5 rule. Only 5% of the people that buy the game participate in online conversations around a game, 25% will be lurkers and read about them and won't actively post about them, and that final 70% don't care what is said or done online. So its really hard to judge what the real reaction to a game is when the internet by default breaks almost everything into echo chambers and skews discussions while only being a small portion of the playerbase.

What makes them happy would not please the trilogy fans, and what would make the trilogy fans happy would not please them. Not a great spot for bioware to be.

I finished the game for the 17th time yesterday and again really enjoyed it and lots of MODS helped with that. I'd really prefer a direct sequel but I am intrigued by the thought of MET characters such as Liara coming to Andromeda or Andromeda characters going to the MW.
I have no idea how or why those things would happen but if well written it could be great.

I think Andromeda is done. Most they'll do is to add a nod to hardcore fans who liked Andromeda.
In terms of "should" - also no. Andromeda's very concept is a cop-out. It's running from the endings because they didn't dare pick one for the next game. And yet it looks like they've done it now anyway (or came up with something to explain them away), so they've pretty much wasted 8 years. Andromeda should not have been made. ME5 should be ME4 and it should have been released in 2017.

If that's the case, then Bioware is more out of touch than I thought. If you're just going to bait me with some wink and a nod rather than solving mysteries of the game then you're just running away from a "problem" like you did with the endings.

I’m not a fan of the thread title since MEA has a good story, but yes ME5 should be a sequel with another good story. There are things left unexplored, like the Jardaan/Opposition Conflict, the Kett, the Mysterious Benefactor, and so on.
^This 1000% agreed.
I'm not really interested in the state of a post-Reaper War MWG. Maybe for a movie, TV show, novel, and comics that would work and I would be more interested in almost any other media except for video games, because after the last 5 years I am not sure I enough patience and/or interest to play a 40-100+ hour video game about something like that.

I think they should have ended with 3 and moved on to something else entirely that had nothing to do with space or aliens, but since they were determined to continue the series and milk the 'Mass Effect' trademark, moving to a new galaxy was the best possible choice.

I am a Krogan, I guess. Personally don't care what BW is cooking up next, because it will be the same garbage as Inquisition, Andromeda, and Anthem. one failed experiment after the other, with the same open world scheme full of nothing. After the remaster release I'll continue to sit on the sidelines to see what's next for them. As for a good sci-fi RPG adventure, I'll be waiting for what ever the people over at Achetype Entertainment is cooking up with my man Drew Karpyshyn.

I see people here very negative about abandoning andromeda. I'm gonna say don't lose hope yet until we see otherwise. I think they won't do it as we've seen all these concept arts, hints and some informations from the teaser. Both galaxies stories are gonna merge from what it seems, while also exploring some of the big threads of Andromeda (jardaan, the benefactor, the scourge etc). They showed both of them for a reason, could be a threat out there or something else we'll see... Gamble suggested it might not be a sequel to both but from all the stuff we've seen it seems it is, unless it is a sequel to ot although the hints heavily shows it could be Andromeda, and if you've read my analysis you'll know why. I had a feeling way before the teaser that they're gonna include the two galaxies, so i have a good feeling we'll see Ryder and crew again and remain hopeful until we see more this June.

People here have a really skewed perspective of what makes a game a "success" or "failure". All the gaming forums in all the world don't even come close to representing the total sum of people who bought and played Andromeda. You're blind-sighted if you can easily ignore the reaction Andromeda got upon release. There are still heavily-viewed videos out on YouTube where the masses came together to laugh, poke fun and even mercilessly insult the game, and they were right to do so. These vids have more views than the trailers do. BioWare cut the game off short after release. It was in the junk bins at game stores a month after release. But OH NO, that's an inaccurate measure of success because I know 10 very passionate Andromeda fans on these forums!!!

You've never talked to an Andromeda fan haven't you?
