Question: If I am doing a fresh re-installation of Windows, I know I need to format the drive obviously...But before I format it, should I ERASE it as well?

AMEN! The person who came up with RGB should be put in front of a firing squad and shot then have time reversed and get shot again! I think I can split the difference... let me see... HERESY!! RGB 4 lyfe! Sarcasm?
UPDATE: Here is 1650 from Zotac on amazon for $444: www.amazon.com/ZOTAC-GeForce-Graphics-Low-profile-ZT-T16520H-10L/dp/B08CYDH8MDIt may be me but I think the prices are beginning to start dropping ever so slowly. Like by only pennies on the dollar.
EDIT:
For example the card I last linked which was $570 now sits at $569.98... Yep. Dropping -for the moment at least but...
INSANELY SLOW.

A post to inform them in a thread. I still don't get what you're trying to tell me. EnergizerBunny posted a question about reinstalling Windows that I assume he meant to post in his own thread (titled "My PC is behaving very strangely"). I simply pointed out to him that he'd posted in the wrong thread in case he went looking for his post later and couldn't find it. That's all. Nope, I like RGB. Though I think mine is tasteful I showed this to my mom and told her I think I could make the rest of the components work with her budget, but I think she's gotten overwhelmed with the options. She decided this evening to go pre-built, and is ready to buy as soon as we find a good one in stock, so we're keeping an eye on NZXT and Microcenter. She's really excited about it, has her desk all set up and has "warned" my dad that it's coming. So now my dad wants me to build him a computer with ALL the RGB. He just browses the internet and collects viruses which I then have to clean out, so I'll build him something simple with integrated graphics and that'll be plenty for him. It may be me but I think the prices are beginning to start dropping ever so slowly. Like by only pennies on the dollar. Hey, progress is still progress! Maybe cryptocurrency will crash and alleviate at least part of the shortage sometime soon.

Your Dad would be fine with a RPi4. Put an LED on the case, boompow we're done here Pre-built, at this moment, was going to be the best way to go on a budget. Plus, you can tinker with a pre-built just like you can any PC.

GPU: ASUS DUAL GeForce RTX 3070 OC 8GB GDDR6 I don't know if the situations are better or worse in Canada, so all I can say is good luck. It took me THREE whole months of nonstop searching to finally get an RTX 30-series card for my brother's build. I actually had to use a GPU stock monitoring bot. I finally caught a Best Buy inventory drop on a random Friday and managed to get an RTX 3090 Founders Edition at MSRP.

It isn't important. Just a rudimentary question and statement that has no basis past this confirmation.

I should have posted it in "My PC is behaving strangely" I apologize. No need for apologies, I just didn't want you to look for your post later and wonder what happened to it. Your Dad would be fine with a RPi4. Put an LED on the case, boompow we're done here Pre-built, at this moment, was going to be the best way to go on a budget. Plus, you can tinker with a pre-built just like you can any PC. Yeah, I'm bummed that I don't get to build my mom's computer for her, but maybe I can talk her into custom sleeved extension cables so I can pretend I contributed. Nope, I like RGB. Though I think mine is tasteful Why is RGB so desired these days?
I don't understand the convention of it. My current system looks like it was hit by a tornado but still runs... Isn't that enough?
You do you. There's nothing wrong with your tornado if you like it. I showed this to my mom and told her I think I could make the rest of the components work with her budget, but I think she's gotten overwhelmed with the options. She decided this evening to go pre-built, and is ready to buy as soon as we find a good one in stock, so we're keeping an eye on NZXT and Microcenter. The rivalry wars has begun. A small hard drive too.
Limit the space the viruses can go. Just put Christmas lights on your laptop and give it to him...
Merry Christmas. Lol. All good ideas, but my dad is stubborn and is convinced he needs tons of storage (which he won't use), and a very fast processor (which he doesn't need). I have been trying to talk sense into him for years. He already has two monitors that he wants to keep using, but he nixed my laptop docking station suggestion. He wants a desktop. He may actually be better off with a Mac Mini for the price, since based on my cursory research, the Apple M1 chip seems to be more powerful than a Ryzen or Intel processor with integrated graphics. He'll need to decide whether he prefers "power" and status vs RGB. Apple vs Windows means virtually nothing to him Hey, progress is still progress! Maybe cryptocurrency will crash and alleviate at least part of the shortage sometime soon. Or feds make cryptocurrency illegal and anyone performing such acts is in danger of spending 10 years in prison... Yeah.
I know it won't happen but a man can dream.
I selfishly would love for this to happen as well.

Same situation here in the Great White North; world shortage of semi-conductors, gold and other materials isn't helping matters, but it could also be a supply shortage in that the companies can't manufacture GPUs fast enough to keep up with the high demand. But I'm not looking for a 30 series. I bought a 2080 Super FTW 3 Ultra Gaming about a year ago (exactly one year ago next Tuesday May 25th, 2020), and it has been an amazing card for all the games I play at 4K. And I typically like to get a minimum of 5 years of solid use from my GPUs before I spring for something new

Getting an RTX 30-series video card at MSRP is nearly impossible right now. You have to compete with other buyers and scalpers using bots that can buy video cards as soon as they come in stock.

Quick suggestion....selecting random parts (maybe an expensive suggestion...?) Parts include: INTEL 10-700K Gigabyte Aorus Master Z490 Western Digital Black 2TB M.2 G.SKILL DDR4: 3000Mhz 16GB PSU: EVGA 850 Watt 80+ GOLD Liq. Cooler Corsair H80i v. 2 Case: Fractal Design Focus G Midtower GPU: ASUS DUAL GeForce RTX 3070 OC 8GB GDDR6 Total after CAD TAX is 2845.00 Conversion back to US Dollars is equal to 2, 350.57 That's over twice her max budget, and also way more than she needs for 1080p gaming, but thanks anyway Yeah, sorry Vanguard....That earlier post from me about fresh installation of WIndows was a mistake. Why is RGB so desired these days?
I don't understand the convention of it. My current system looks like it was hit by a tornado but still runs... Isn't that enough?
You do you. There's nothing wrong with your tornado if you like it.
Apple vs Windows means virtually nothing to him Or feds make cryptocurrency illegal and anyone performing such acts is in danger of spending 10 years in prison... Yeah.
I know it won't happen but a man can dream.
I selfishly would love for this to happen as well. Oh, I didn't know what her budget was.....I guess that would have been helpful to ask, eh? Oops.
