Not first-hand. We looked at some 16-series cards from them, but some of their low rated reviews were a bit more concerning than those of the seller we chose. Still, 98% positive isn't bad. I looked them up on the maps just a big old warehouse... doesn't look like a necessarily nice side of town.

BUILD DAAAAAAAAAY!!! I have really shaky hands when attempting fine motor skills thanks to some meds, so installing the CPU was SCARY. Here it is with a little dollop of thermal paste. My mom watched me upgrade my CPU cooler a few weeks ago, so she decided she wanted an upgraded cooler, too. I had some spare RAM that used to be in my system, and she didn't mind deviating from her black and white theme to save that money. It later turned out that the RAM wasn't seated properly. I shouldn't have been surprised, because it was finicky when I had installed it in my system, too. I ended up having to reseat both sticks three times before it booted All assembled except for the power and the front panel connectors. When I built my computer, I grossly underestimated how long it would take to hook all this up because of how fiddly they are (THANKS SHAKY HANDS!!) and how tight the space is. This being an mATX case, it was even worse. She didn't initially want RGB, but then she picked a case that came pre-installed with RGB fans, and a cooler with a white LED fan, and peripherals with RGB, and well...this is what she ended up with (Cable management pending... ) We discovered after assembling almost everything that the case is missing an LED controller described in the manual that is supposed to allow her to change the lighting mode. I'm going to contact the manufacturer and try to find out if they can just send the missing part, or if the manual is outdated and there is some other way to connect everything so that she's able to switch from the default lighting. If all else fails and she gets sick of the lights, I can get new fans for her. For now though, she seems really happy with it. She excitedly turned off the lights in the room and told me to take more pictures. We got her an NVME drive on sale, so here's Windows almost done installing after like 10 minutes. We got some essential programs installed, but no games, because we discovered their wifi router isn't broadcasting its 5GHz signal. I'm pretty sure it's supposed to, anyway. So I need to go back and look into that, otherwise it'll take hours to download a single game on the 2.4GHz network. Hopefully I will be able to fix that tomorrow. Cat tax!

tha's a nice looking build, Dragontartare! I'm happy thatyou got things working, that you got it all within your budget and that your mom likes it. I'm happy for you.
I hope my forthcoming build looks just as nice... Oh, and your cat is purrrrdy! I used to have a cat that looked very similar a brown/black mainecoon. At least that's what I was told she was; I always just thought she was a tabby. long haired, brown/black. Tiny thing though not as large as most mainecoons. And a feisty lil' thing. She once did a flying-superman leap and latched herself onto my upper thigh and bit the crap out of my leg.
She was fearless. She also once chased a german shepherd off our property. The dog was scared sh------!

If your dad gets a virus maybe copy the desktop as picture with the icons on it. Then remove the desktop icons from the desktop. Then set the picture you saved as desktop background. When he clicks an icon and gets a nothing response... May seem cruel but then again it may just give the incentive to be more careful what he does...

Looked like a lot of paste but maybe it was just the angle of view. It didn't end up oozing out the sides, so I think we're ok It might have just been the angle. Those look like Kingston HyperX or is it now Fury or are they the Team Group ones? They're PNY ones: pcpartpicker.com/product/sn38TW/pny-xlr8-16-gb-2-x-8-gb-ddr4-3200-cl16-memory-md16gk2d4320016axrMaybe an EATX case for a MATX Motherboard would have been a better option? While I'm sure that would have been easier to build in, it would have looked ridiculous This hub controller the one they "forgot" to put in there: Or maybe this be better: ? The missing piece is possibly proprietary. It's just shaped like a molex plug and plugs into the fans' daisy chain (which are also all molex). I emailed the manufacturer to see if they can just send us the piece. If not, if she wants control over the lights at some point, I'll just get her new fans that either come with a reliable controller or that I can connect to the motherboard directly. Is it possible that WIFI router is splitting the connection for some weird reason between the mothers' and fathers' computers? I'm not sure what the problem was that day. My dad was on his desktop, which has a wired internet connection, but even our phones weren't picking up the 5GHz signal. When I went over yesterday, our phones managed to pick up the 5GHz network in my mom's little office, although not at full strength. Her new computer's wifi card couldn't get a strong enough 5GHz signal to actually connect, though. It could still connect to 2.4 GHz, which is fine for web browsing, but is way too slow for downloading games. I updated the router's firmware anyway, but that didn't change anything. Her computer is upstairs, so I ordered a range extender for them. Hopefully it helps, and if not, I can return it and try something else. Speaking of the latter...

Then he calls me in a panic because his computer "doesn't work," and I have to race over after work to remove the "virus." If the ransomware he picked up a few years ago didn't teach him, nothing will.
