Honestly, this might just be me, but I'd be happy if the next threat was not "galaxy extinction" level - I could just as well be happy with an enemy trying to subjugate a race, or take political power by unlawful means. Like, more of a Palpatine threat than a Reaper threat. Things don't always have to get bigger to be more interesting, in many ways the Collectors were a smaller threat than Sovereign and many people still hold ME2 as the best in the series.

It's definitely not just you. Trying to top something like the Reapers kind of takes away from the severity of them as a threat. I guess you could go with the Leviathan but I wouldn't personally choose to go down that road.

I'd have other threats that would be incited by Leviathan manipulation and I'd do it for 3 games, to reveal that it was the Leviathans, all along and then, I'd give it a time skip to the time when the Leviathans would have had a real military power.

I'd have other threats that would be incited by Leviathan manipulation and I'd do it for 3 games, to reveal that it was the Leviathans, all along and then, I'd give it a time skip to the time when the Leviathans would have had a real military power. It's the Leviathans all along again? Again? You mean because of the Reapers. Well, the Reapers weren't exactly by the hand of the Leviathans and even then, they would have never purposefully planned their own fall. If anything, we would be using the Leviathans to the potential that the Reapers had, but Bioware only used for maybe one game; ME2. They are a great vehicle to spur political turmoil in the lines of the Council races, trying to slow down the rebuilding process and turn agents to their sides, alongside resources and military prowess, in their attempt to repopulate and re-assert their dominance in the Milky Way. It has a lot of potential and it isn't a galaxy ending event. Even defeat to the Leviathans could be a plausible outcome and still have the franchise survive and continue. There are so many ways this could go and very interesting ways. You'd basically have the Leviathans play the part of Palpatine, as was discussed earlier. You just have to be smart about going about it.

The Leviathans are definitely kind of a lose canon left unresolved after the trilogy, although I do feel they are a bit too similar to the Reapers to be something I want to see dealt with immediately (maybe further down the line?). It would be kinda interesting to see the conflicts that eventually arise after the world is rebuilt (which is a necessity in all endings sans Refusal for obvious reasons).
Like, after the Bubonic Plague in the 14th century it took Europe about 100 to 200 years to start recovering and blossoming, and this was a galaxy wide war so we can imagine it would take longer. In that time new powers would arise, new types of people would become important, and there would always be people ready to use the power vacuum created. Maybe we could even see how the memory of the Reaper war starts to fade and be distorted, and how that affects the view of Shepard. It could be interesting to see if anyone tries to use their memory for their own motives.
There's also the possibility of using the scrapped Haestrom plot, letting the dying stars be a sort of "natural threat" that has to be overcome as a parallel story.

At this rate all future Bioware games will be half done and modders need to rescue it for free.

Hello Bioware, this might be the only feedback places you read as the crazy amount of people asking for help in various issues have been constantly ignored. So is any, when the company you hire to make a remaster of your three most beloved games in recent history only decides to fix the first one it is not a success no matter how many copies you sold, it just reeks of you not caring to listen to the feedback from the original releases and likely not oversee the Legendary Edition.

The worst and the best thing Bioware can do is listen to Fans. For Fan can be someone's worst enemy or best friend. So The best thing they can do is develop a good story first then listen to the fans and use their ideas that makes sense for their story. Also the same logic is applied to game mechanics
