The 5 missions achievement is biased by whom you take for the post-Tali recruit Citadel side missions and Feros side missions.
Not all missions count, from what I experimented, anything that completes aboard the Normandy or when Shepard is alone, doesn't count as you have no party there.
Also, it seems that it doesn't start to count until you recruited Tali as I unlocked Ash/Tali at the same time while completing side missions on the Citadel in the first visit and I didn't use Tali anymore than Wrex/Kaidan (my 3 least used squadmates) over the entire game.

I'm not surprised with Tali being number 1 for ME 1. Her abilities are really useful against the Geth, plus she can unlock and decrypt all those random containers. On higher difficulties, she's necessary at early levels.
I doubt that'd be the case for ME 2 or 3, though. Her abilities aren't as good against organics, and she comes into the story halfway through. In both those games, Garrus will probably take the top spot, especially if his ME 3 insanity build is still viable.

I unlocked the achievements for Ashley, Garrus, and Wrex first.

I'm not finding Tali's hacking nearly as useful as I did in the old game. I'm tending to use Kaidan and Liara more and having them lift enemies or use Liara's singularity to get whole groups of enemies airborne. I'm finding Kaidan's neural shock extremely useful on the organic enemies... dropping them at my feet so I can pummel them with the AR.
I think what you're seeing is that most people are putting each new recruitment onto the squad as they gather them. With Tali, since she's recruited last on the Citadel, the player puts her on, becomes a spectre, and then has no opportunity to change out again as long as they say on the Citadel. Since there are more than 5 of those little side quests on the Citadel that you can complete before you leave the first time, I'm not surprised a lot of people are clearing Tali's achievement first. Since I got Ashley's achievement first though, I think if you do complete some of those little side quests before getting Tali, they will count.

I unlocked in the following order: Ash, Tali, Garrus, Liara, Wrex, and poor, poor Kaiden who is now radioactive dust. I have found near the end that Wrex and Tali maxed out in shotgun and equipped with high end shotguns and mods are pretty much wrecking machines (pun intended).

The jealous haters are out in force I see.
Tali isn't even best quarian, but being only member of the master race in ME1, is by default best character and squadmate. Everyone knows this.
They made pleb EZ mode biotic squaddies like Liara and Carth, but even they cannot overpower the appeal of having a quarian watch your 6.

I never took Tali out once, and still got this achievement. In fact, I only took Kaidan and Wrex with me the whole game, and still got achievements for everyone. It seems you're trying to wind people up, is all.

Actually Kaidan is more useful than Tali, since he can decrypt and has electronics. He's also Biotic and a Medic. Garrus is next to useless since he isn't and can't tank like Kiadan can. I'm sorry but Garrus and Tali being the most popular LI, does NOT MEAN that they are most useful in Combat.

I never said Garrus was useful in ME 1, I said he was useful in ME 3 with his insanity build which allows him to solo enemies. Tali is pretty useful in ME 1, her AI hacking is great against Geth, though I agree - Kaidan is more useful overall. Furthermore, I never brought in their popularity as LI - I was judging them based on their gameplay. Hell, I've never even romanced Tali before.

I jumped the gun a bit there with my assumption that it was yet another popularity post. I’m sorry. But still, there are what two missions with Geth where Tali maybe useful? And those are toward the end game. She becomes as useful as meat to a vegan. EDIT. I was referring to ME3 above. Back to ME1. Again, Kaidan can overload and sabotage Geth and electronics, so Tali and Garrus are not needed.

Well we all have our personal biases on which characters are best but the reality is which companions are most useful is wholly dependent on a given playstyle.

The tali one is being influenced by a bug. I got her five times achievement the first mission I brought her on, before anyone else. So I wouldn't hold that as a great metric.

A shame more people don't use Kaidan. He is one of the most useful squadmates in ME1 and ME3. True. I finally saved Kaidan with my main shep and took him on almost every mission in ME1. His skills are very well rounded, and for some reason he had the tendency to stay alive longer than any other squadmates. I just started ME3 today, and I found his voice actor had gotten better at delivering his lines, compared to ME1 where he always sounds bored, or uninterested. Kaidan has made it to my top five favorite characters in ME, replacing Ash.

He doesn't go down easily in ME1 because he has barrier. He is also a Sentinel which is a very well rounded class in general. It's also why Miranda is always as a solid squadmate as well. In ME3, Reave is very good for him. He can set up tech and biotic explosions very well on top of detonate them. He is another character you can't go wrong with on your team. I also agree his characterization and voice acting improve greatly in ME3. As much as I like Ash, she is a very unnecessary character into ME3. Not only do I feel that her character regresses, but you don't need another soldier. You start with Vega and get Garrus early. And if your Shepard is a soldier, she becomes super redundant. Kaidan all the way for me.

Kaidan is my favorite; I take him nearly everywhere and yet he was one of my last achievements to get. There's something a bit weird going on there. It also seems a bit skewed anyway since I take Tali around a lot not because I particularly want to, but because I feel I had to since she guarantees getting loot unless I max the others out on decrypt/electronic. There's nothing more annoying in ME1 than exploring a planet and not having the skill level to salvage.

We didn't need Vega; I think they wanted that "Krogan-like" tank without giving us Wrex or Grunt (who from a story perspective, makes sense wouldn't be there), but they could have easily just dropped Vega for someone like Miranda or Jack really. Or, toss both Vega and Javik (since they changed the point of having him in the first place) and give us both Miranda and Jack. I'd be okay with that.

So far I have found to be mixing up who I take every mission. Tali has been more last few but the missions revolved around her more. Kaidan can pretty much do all my unlocks that Tali can.

Lmao I can't believe Carth has simps.
ME1 I find him useless until mid game when his useful skills are finally unlocked(e.g. Lift, Electronics) and he doesn't eat dirt 2 seconds into any combat like he does early game, but by that point everyone is overpowered so it doesn't matter what squamates you pick so you may as well pick interesting ones (i.e. everyone but Carth).
Then Ash is far superior in 3. Give her a Typhoon and watch her wreck the whole map. Carth is probably the worst squadmate in 3 with his lack of weapon dakka, long ass cooldowns and pretty bad skills (cryo blast lmao).
Literally everyone>>>>>>>Carth.

Definitely different from my order. In regards to who I take out the most it’d be,
1. Ashley 2. Wrex 3. Tali 4. Liara 5. Garrus 6. Kaidan

Kaidan goes with me to Eden Pride, and the Citadel... for a brief time before he's replaced. After that Kaidan stays in the Normandy until Virmire, where he dies heroically.
Ash mostly stays in the Normandy, though I'll very occasionally allow her out on the odd rare side mission if I'm feeling nostalgic.
Wrex and Garrus are used a lot, and they even have a priority mission each, Feros for Wrex, Therum for Garrus.
Tali goes with me absolutely everywhere, no exceptions. She's too useful to leave behind. Liara, after she'd recruited, stays with me most of the time. Liara, Tali and Shepard are the A Team. All other compositions are temporary B Team affairs.
