If I were to ever need or buy another PSU, I would search high and lower for the 1000 Watt P2, but as far as I can tell that model is nowhere to be found. I assume you mean the SuperNOVA EVGA sub-brand... Don't know why you can't find it. Its right here:
Though the Seasonic comparison is insane in price versus it:
I mean no offense.....We all have our preferences and reasons for our choices, and I respect that. I can only speak from my own experience. Experience is all we have. However if we limit it to only one side we have flawed ourselves for future failure. Even more so than our pathetic human existence can be allowed for. It's not available int he Great White North up here with the Polar Bears, nor is it on EVGA.com. I have read all your other posts, and thank you for your replies.

So I've had a horrible realization.....Back on the 28th, when the MS Tech formatted my 970 M.2 to give me the most recent build of Windows.....I lost all my games-- including ME 1- so all the progress I had made is GONE. And I had to slug through Novera. I couldn't wait to be finished that level...All those elevator rides back and forth between the Hotel and the Lobby....It was such a snooze fest! I couldn't wait to get to the point where I could choose to free the Rachni Queen, then be done with that level. I was so close to setting my feet on the surface of Virmire......Now it's another week and a half of snore-through play right from the start. I have to start from the very beginning..... Of course the easy way out is the use the Genesis comic to make those choices for me....But I actually wanted to save Lt. Kirrahe and Ashley, because I wanted it to be a proper Trilogy PT. But the thought of having to start all over again and endure the tediousness of Noveria (not to mention the clunky Inventory system) is more than I can bear right now....

I have read all your other posts, and thank you for your replies. As long as the information is useful and beneficial that is all I hope for.
But that is the PSU your looking at trying to truly find right? The EVGA Supernova Plantinum 220 P2 1000? bmwcrazy already alerted me to that. So I looked on Amazon Canada and found it there but at an exorbitant scalper amount. See below:
Because he's in Canada. His choices are even more limited. Those are scalpers listings. Don't buy from those opportunistic scums. If you're in the US, get it directly from a reputable retailer like Best Buy instead. Not those third-party sellers. That's a Titanium rated 1000w Seasonic unit for $299.99 straight from Best Buy. Platinum rated actually. That said it is on amazon canada as well: Still is a scalper price: $499.99
Some people can't wait and need immediately so its there if need be.

Thanks for the mod links, I'll keep that in mind....But for now, I'm just going to take a break until I feel up to playing through ME 1 again. Maybe after I get these frickin' PC issues solved...Right now that is putting a damper on the whole PC-using experience for me. And as for the EVGA SuperNova 80+ Platinum 1000 Wat P2....yes that is the model I ahve been hunting for. ANd I agree those are scalper prices. Thanks again.

So having bought some new hardware, and also wanting to repurpose my existing hardware....I am wondering what configuration I can employ to maximize the use of all of the parts or at least as many as I can.
To begin I will tell you the parts I have that I am going to be re-using and also the new stuff I just purchased.
my current MB is the X-99 Phoenix SLI (it has two PCIE 3.0 x16 slots that operate at x16). My current CPU the Intel 6850K has up to 44 PCIE lanes, which really came in handy when I was running an SLI config back in 2015-17 with a pair of GTX 980 FTWs before upgrading to my single 1080 FTW 2.
but in a few weeks going to be replacing them with the Z-490 Aorus Master, which only has a single x16 slot and three PCIE 3.0 nvme slots, and the 10900KF which has only 20 PCIE lanes.
I presently have two M.2 Nvme drives PCIE 3.0 x4 (2280 form factor), the Samsung 950 Pro and the Samsung 970 Evo Plus though I only have a single M.2 slot on my board so I only ever used a single M.2 drive at a time on my present Phoenix SLI. My goal with my new Aorus Master Z-490 is to use the 1 TB 970 Evo Plus as my main bootable OS, and the second 950 Pro (512 gb) as a storage drive. Additionally, I also will have two 2.5 inch SSDs, a 1 TB Crucial MX500 (which is currently being used as my main file storage) and also the Samsung 850 EVO Pro (512 gb) as a third storage drive. I am hoping/planning to use the two SSDs and the 512gb M.2 all as additional file storage, and I would like to have them in my case and all connected to the motherboard in some way so that I am making use of them.
Trouble is though, I am not sure I will have enough PCIE lane support to carry all of that. Though I know I will have to connect the 2.5 inch SSDs via SATA 3 cables....so maybe that won't have any impact. And I don't want to connect any of the drives in a RAID configuration. I simply want them as individual file storage.
Can anyone tell me if I will be able to configure my system and my case (the Cooler Master H500M) in this way, or do I need to consider other ways and maybe not use all my drives?

I think you may get a bottle-neck. I hope I am wrong but if this from gigabytes website and my math -which could be wrong: Not sure how many lanes this will actually give you but it seems all the M.2 are limited to four each.
So maybe I am wrong but wouldn't that be only four lanes to each M.2? IF so your going to run into a problem if 20 lanes is the maximum you have... UNLESS you want the GPU to only use 8 lanes and not 16. If the latter then you need at least 26 lanes.
Since the three M.2's will use up a total 12 lanes. Allowing the GPU to only use 8. That is if your wanting max from everything otherwise it "may" work at half-power...

Since the three M.2's will use up a total 12 lanes. Allowing the GPU to only use 8. That is if your wanting max from everything otherwise it "may" work at half-power...
After further review I have found that the Z490 Master has 24 PCIE 3.0 lanes, on top of the CPU having 16. (16 of which are for the GPU that would occupy use of the CPU) and the rest of run through the PCH via x4 DMI PCIe Gen 3 interlink (the link between the processor and chipset). As long as the RTX 2080 Super FTW 3 Ultra Gaming runs at X16 and the Evo970 Plus M.2 is functioning at Gen 3 x4 rates....I don't much care about the 950 Pro because that is just going to be used as storage. If my math and understanding about this is correct (estimating a total of 40 lanes between the CPU and the Motherboard) I am imagining it to work in this way: the GPU would tie into the CPU PCIE lanes if it is connected to the x16 slot of the motherboard. So then you have 24 lanes remaining from the motherboard's chipset, which I can use to run the bootable M.2 and the storage M.2 both at x4(for a total of -8) which would leave a final total of 16 lanes open.. All I'm concerned about mainly (aside from performance of my boootable 970 and my 2080) is the connectivity of the 950 Pro M.2 in a secondary M.2 slot, as well as the two SSDs being able to utilize SATA 3 for storage connectivity. How those three drives actually 'perform' is not an issue as they won't be used for anything intensive like my bootable 970 Plus or my GPU.

According to the Aorus Z490 Master manual, all three M.2 ports run through the chipset (PCH) and none of them is connected directly to the CPU. So your video card will get the full 16 lanes to the CPU and if you run two video cards on first and second PCIe slot, it just splits the 16 lanes into two 8 lanes. The M.2 connectors on the Z490 Master are all a bit different and I'll do my best to explain it. The first M.2 connector is called M2P_SB. This slot supports only PCIe and not SATA mode. So only NVMe SSDs can be used with this slot. The second M.2 connector is called M2A_CPU. This slot supports both PCIe and SATA mode. However if you use an M.2 SATA drive with this slot, your SATA3-1 port becomes unavailable (Page 32 of the Manual). Since both your 950 Pro and 970 Evo are M.2 NVMe and not M.2 SATA, this isn't an issue for you. The third M.2 connector is called M2M_SB. This slot also supports both PCIe and SATA mode. However if you use any M.2 drive with this slot, you lose your SATA3 4 and 5 port. I would recommend avoid using M2M_SB, SATA3 4 and 5 altogether because not only they share the same bandwidth, they also share it with the Intel 2.5Gb ethernet chip, and the last PCIe slot (Manual Page 7). If I were you, I would use the 970 Evo on M2A_CPU (second M.2 connector) because it is the closest M.2 port to the Z490 chipset, and use the 950 Pro on M2P_SB (first M.2 connector). All SATA3 ports could be used except for 4 and 5 (basically the last two ports because it's port 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5). 4 and 5 should only be used when you really have no choice.

Whoa.....Dude, you are awesome! You're my new hero! Thank you so much for that explanation! And I called another Canada Computers store other than my local, one that is just outside my area and asked a question about CPU Coolers....and the guy was very knowledgeable, very helpful, patient...answered all my questions and offered me recommendations. My local store is just a bunch of *******, they were so rude and all they did was try to push the newest stuff and tell me that the stuff I was wanting was "no good, obsolete". The other guy at he store I called this morning actually complimented me on my choices of products.

After further review I have found that the Z490 Master has something like 40 or 44 lanes (16 of which are for the GPU that would occupy use of the CPU) and the rest of run through the PCH via x4 DMI PCIe Gen 3 interlink (the link between the processor and chipset) Then you should have no problems... Though if this issue you have had rears its ugly head don't say I didn't warn you.
Consider me warned, Vanguard though I honestly don't think it will. I've been using my SSD for two days straight now and the *flashy* bheaviours haven't come back. THough I now have a problem with none of my games or other programs responding. They all seem to hang. Hence, the straw that broke the Bunny's back and why I gladly, finally, opted to buy new stuff. My new build includes the Intel 10900KF, Aorus Z490 Master, 32gb DDR 4 @ 3000mhz (16-18-18-38-2N), the Corsair H115i RGB PRO XT 280mm AIO Liq. Cooler and my RTX 2080 Super Ftw 3 Ultra that I will be reusing. So basically the new stuff was just eh RAM, CPU, Motherboard and Cooler. But on paper, I am very happy with my new build and am greatly looking forward to building it. Even looking forward to the installation of Windows and all my programs, just the whole experience of having something new. Far better than the frustration that I have dealt with for the past month.

Which will isolate it to the drives...
If it does show up I wonder if it may be a bad controller on the one of the drives that is not bad enough to be detected.
We need better Motherboard diagnostic software -besides Aida 64....

I just received my Gigabyte Z-490 Aorus Master, and aside from the tiniest of tiny pencil-like pictures in the very surface of the lid (the park didn't even penetrate the middle layer of the lid surface, there's not a hint of anything in the inner/middle layer or the bottom/inside of the lid...It appears only to have been a very minor surface puncture that only affected the black coating of the box lid where the logo and word designs are) so I am totally not worried about that. It's not even a complaint really, just an observation.
But what a beautiful Motherboard! I really like the black PCB, stainless steel M.2 covers, black cover around the audio headers hat has thin orange striping for accent colours. And through the static bag, I inspected the board for things like bent pins, scratches etc...and am extremely pleased to report that the motherboard itself is in 100000% pristine condition.
can't wait to start building!

We need better Motherboard diagnostic software -besides Aida 64.... Oh yes.....For the last 5 years I have had next to zero issues with my PC, aside from a faulty RAM chip in 2019 that was replaced and now works great. But as for the MOtherboard....It has been rock solid and very stable for the past 5 years until the *flashy* problems started back on May 2 and 3rd and have continued for all month until June 2nd. But by that time, there were other problems that crept up like programs just 'hanging' and not initializng. The most severe of this is Mass Effect 2 Digital Deluxe CE, but it does it with other games as well and other program like Office 2010, Who Crashed and my samsung software. I double-click, I see the blue Windows circle spinning........Then nothing. It just stops and the program doesn't respond. It won't even show up in Task Manager. It's like I never even tried anything to begin with. So anyway...yes it's a different problem that may well have a simple fix. But at this point it's another problem and it seems as though the problems just continue to mount, and I can never seem to solve even one before something else happens. Which is why I ordered new stuff. Anyways, I'm sure that with EVERYTHING fresh and new and clean.....it will work properly the way it should. The only addendum would be that if the *flashy* behaviours still happen, or IF I can't format my 970 M.2 (or anything else of that nature)...then I am going to RMA the 970 EVO Plus because it has a 5 year warranty,a nd with all other parts being NEW NEW....that is the only possible cause that could even remotely be left to cause issue. But I will deal with that IF it happens. But I am very pleased with my new orders and excited that the Motherboard has arrived already after not even a full 48 hours.

Just one question did you check the Voltage Regulating Modules and Solid-State compacitors on the motherboard that "may" be the cause of all this? Did you see any damage to them?

I wuold have to look at the board closely, all I'm going by right now is a visual inspection either through the glass side panel or without it....But not as up close and personal as I may like if I am investigating for damage......But from what I have been able to tell, I do not see any damage to the regulators or capacitors. All of them...everywhere scattered around the PCB, they all look to be just fine.

*begins to ho up and down in one place with a building sense of excitement and anticipation* My Corsair iCUE H115i RGB Pro XT 280mm Liquid Cooler is arriving sometime today. I've read and watched at least a dozen Rviews (things like Gamers Nexus, Bit Wit, Jayz Two Cents, Tom's Hardware, Hardware Cannucks and many others) and they all like it. Price to Performance they say it is a very good, well-performing cooler. The only other brand I was briefly considering was NZXT, but they were twice the price and I watched several reviews (especially Gamer's Nexus....guy with long curly brown hair), he said the NZXT software can be invasive with info collecting and the prpensity to install supposed 'improvement updates' (without your knowledge) that can actually lessen performance (then you wonder why suddenly your CPU isn't as cool as it was yesterday or why the fans are not performing like yesterday)-- it's because of the supposed 'update' from NZXT.
So for that reason, I gladly chose to stick with Corsair. I have used many of their AIO Liquid coolers over the years and they hae all been great performers and long lasting (H40, H55, H60, H75....and currently still the now 5 year old, H80i v.2) I know I spoke about buying for brand recently, or not to....But Corsair is the one company for Coolers that I have always had amazing success with. I know of NZXT, I am aware of their reputation for build quality and performance being top of the line....But I was turned off by the warning about the software and I didn't like the price point. Hence, returning to 'old faithful', Corsair.
EDIT: My CPU Cooler arrived on my doorstep at 4:30 pm today. Four days earlier than originally projected. I'm getting everything earlier than expected even though they have a friendly reminder about "COVID causing later than expected deliveries....." THough one reason for this could be because I have a Prime membership; I joined a month or so ago when I bought my drive bay and considering all these other expenses, it has more than paid off already.
Edit $2: Although my PC has other problems now...even running off the 850 PRO SSD (programs are hanging and then closing, not even showing up in Task Manager as they hang as if I never tried to open them to begin with).....My horrible thought that I can't seem to get rid of-- of course it has to pop into my head as soon as I start receiving my new parts, as if to cast doubt on my desire to purchase new stuff, ugh!-- but my horrible of horribles is what if I still have problems with my 970 Plus M.2 when I install it on my new Motherboard? What if the original problem was the M.2 itself (though I have done many Diagnostic Scans using Samsung Magician, including SMART Scans and they all come back 100% Healthy and in perfect working order. NO errors or defects of any kind)......I dunno, I'm just worried that the closer I get to building, the problems will start again.
I guess my only choice at that point will be to track down Samsung and RMA my M.2, come hell or high water. OR if it comes back totally broke, get them to replace it because it's not even six months old on a 5 year warranty.
I just want everything to go smoothly.......

SO....the on-going saga of my PC Issues continues: Today (Sunday June 6th) I contacted Samsung and told them my history of PC issues....and the guy I spoke with was like talking to a broken record while banging my head against a wall. Now, Samsung Support says they are available "24/7"....while their 3rd party service centres "E-Link" are only available Monday-Friday 9 am to 6 pm. Fair enough. So after wating 45 minutes I finally spoke to a rep from Samsung and after explaining my whole history of issues....and then making a clear point that I was not complaining about the drive or saying "this is the problem. Fix it." that I was merely attempting to rule out a defective M.2 drive as the cause of my issue (considering the 970 could not be formatted and produced an error message)...But his only reply was "Even if you connect the drive through the use of an M.2/USB enclosure....As long as the drive is detected within THIS PC and/or Device Manager, then the problem is not the M.2s themselves. The problem is either with the Windows OS OR a different part of your PC...More than likely a defect in your motherboard."
Which stands to reason. But explaining to him that I was not finger-pointing at the M.2 specifically...That I merely wanted to rule that out as a possible cause, because these are *these are the issues I'm having and errors I am seeing when I try to format it*...if he could help me to concretely rule out the individual drives themselves as being defective and therefore causing the problems I am having.....Then I would be happy with that. In other words, I don't want to have gone to the expense of buying all new stuff (minus the M.2s) install everything.....Only to find out that the problems are still occurring because the issue is the M.2 drive itself. Then I would have to RMA the drive anyways, which is what I am trying to do now if only to either say "okay, I sent it in and got it back they say the drive is NOT defective," OR "I sent it in...and they found that the M.2 970 was defective. They sent me a replacement," And now I can continue with my new build, worry free.
But to get the guy to meet me there at that half-way point, and at least acknowledge the possibility of defect, OR rule it out completely with certainty.....was worse than having teeth pulled! Almost as if they did not want to admit even the remote possibility that their product could be defect and that they might have to honour their warranty.
Because I am going to have to format both my 970 and my 950 to match my new z490 Motherboard when I install it all....I decided to go ahead and format both M.2 drives today so they would be ready for my new build. But as expected, neither drive would format properly. "Windows has encountered an error and the Formatting could not continue." Then I also got "Invalid Function. Location is unavailable." on both drives. However, when connecting them to my PC through an M.2/USB enclosure, they are 'detectable' within THIS PC and they do show up in Device Manager.
I don't know what is going on....But the more I try to trouble shoot, the more I firmly believe it is an issue with my Phoenix SLI motherboard.
EDIT: At about 2:30 or 3 p.m. I contacted Samsung Canada again using a 1 900 800 number that a friendly guy from Canada COmputers gave me...and I was able to connected with someone over the phone from Samsung Canada. I agreed and gave him remote access to see my desktop and I told him the complete history of my PC problems. He'd agreed with Microsoft's assessment that it was a hardware related cause, and given the extensive troubleshooting I had done to rule out various parts, he agreed with me that the only part left is the Motherboard. Which led me me right up to the issues I was having (both then and now) about formatting my M.2 drives, and I recreated the error messages for him: "Windows has encountered an error and the formatting cannot continue...." as well as "Drive Not accessible, Invalid Location/Incorrect Function" and he told me "those types of error messages are showing up because you are using an M.2/USB enclosure and trying to format the drive from outside the case. Your PC is recognizing it like a detachable drive, ie a USB drive and our M.2 drives are designed in such a way that they will only be properly formatted if they are connected directly to the motherboard via the M.2 slot. When you are ready, replace your 970 Plus to your new motherboard, or your current motherboard if you want to do it now, and try the formatting process again. If that does not work through Windows, try using Samsung Magician to create a bootable drive from a USB stick, then do a Secure Erase of the M.2 that is attached to the Motherboard using Samsung Magician. That will completely and totally wipe the M.2 clean and restore the 'factory default' settings that it was packaged with when you bought it. THEN you can resume your installation of a fresh Windows."
Bottom line....I am going to have to wait another week or two until I have all my stuff and start building before I make any progress. But at least now, I know what the cause of those formatting errors were.

The problem is either with the Windows OS OR a different part of your PC...More than likely a defect in your motherboard." Which stands to reason. I don't know what is going on.... But the more I try to trouble shoot, the more I firmly believe it is an issue with my Phoenix SLI motherboard.First in relation to the Tech support:
And now to the trouble shooting:
Boy the money you could have saved.
$100 - $150 or so versus the thousands spent... Though in hindsight may not be a total loss... Just keep the components and get another motherboard for the current system and continue building your new one. Then you will have a back up if something goes wrong.

Any legitimate brand name motherboard (Gigabyte, Asus, MSI, Asrock) I have tried to find for my 6850K is 1000 dollars or more CAD-- used. Infact, I did find an ASUS board a few days back when I was shopping....for 1599.99 used. That was nearly the whole cost of all my new parts brand new. I might as well just scrap the CPU, RAM and Phoenix SLI and move ahead with my Z490/10900KF build, because I don't even have another case. The only extra things I do have are a GPU and monitor. And what do I need two computers for? Except at random search, I did find this.....But what is it? Xipegeg er somethin. Some Chinese knock-off brand I've never heard of undoubtedly. Actually, after a quick wiki check....I have found out that they are a company based in S. Korea and they sell everything. It's like the Target of S. Korea.....they sell everything. golf nets, walter filtration systems, soup pots, gardening stuff, PC parts like this motherboard. I don't quite get it. STill wouldn't trust it though. www.amazon.ca/Xigeapg-LGA2011-V3-Professional-Motherboard-LGA2011-3/dp/B093PHJHVW/ref=sr_1_10?dchild=1&keywords=X-99+motherboard&qid=1623026297&sr=8-10PS: Just to be clear, so I am not misreading your intent...."100 to 150 dollars vs thousands spent".....Not sure I follow your comment. (Are you saying I shouldn't have bought new stuff? That I should stick with my current rig and fix it? Or just buy cheap parts and cobble it together just to keep it running? )

That I should stick with my current rig and fix it? Nah, you've earned yourself a new rig.

That I should stick with my current rig and fix it? Nah, you've earned yourself a new rig. Does anyone have or know anything about the 280mm coolers? This will be my first build with a liquid Cooler that large....all my previous builds have had small 140 or 120mm coolers and I have never done a build with anything larger. My current cooler is the 2011-3 socket based Corsair H80iv2, which is an amazing cooler because it gets the performance of the dual-fan H100 in a smaller form factor, but it has better performance and price than than the smaller H60. Still a single-fan size though, but the radiator is twice as thick as the H60 or H75. I think the total thickness is something like 50mm (1.9685 inches) Plus in front of the face of 120mm radiator there is a second 120mm fan. Additionally, behind the H80i radiator....about an inch toward the back, I have an extra 140mm fan on top for exhaust, a standard 140x140x25 fan from Corsair which is on the top bracket just above the center line of my motherboard. My new cooler....and here is my question....My new cooler is the H115i RGB Pro XT (also from Corsair). It's a 280mm cooler. But where I am running into some confusion is the exact measurements. Every website I have checked (including Corsair.com) lists the radiator measurements as 322mm x 137mm x 27mm (OR 12.6772 inches Lx 5.3937 W inches x H or (Thickness) 1.06299 inches) But the measurements on the box are slightly different: 315mm x 143mm x 29 mm ( 12.4016 in x 5.62992 x 1.14173). I'm not sure which to go by. Which measurements do I trust, the box or all the websites including Corsair? And even if I go by the larger numbers will they make a difference in the fit of my case? I am using the H500M from Cooler Master and right on their website CoolerMaster says for both Top and Front mounted Radiator Support: Full support of 120, 140, 240,280, 360mm radiators. And I've seeen two or three videos of people mounting the H150i Pro RGB 360mm cooler to the top of the same case, the H500M with absolutely zero issues of any kind. So why wouldn't a smaller 280 version fit, right? I'm probably over-thinking and worrying for nothing...But as I said I've never worked with a cooler this large before....and with this new build I really just want everything to go silky, buttery smooth for installation.
