Garrus is alright, but he is no Rachni Queen. My darling I, can't get enough of your love babe. I wanted to play a 50 Shades style romance with Harbinger. That dirty talk tho If we are playing dirty, Fem Shepard with either T.I.M or Kai Leng. Also I want a fucked up romance with Female Shepard and Kai Leng with knives.

I can't romance Garrus or Tali. My Shep is going to die saving the galaxy . . . either Garrus or Tali would be devastated in the aftermath if they were in a relationship with Shepard. I much prefer to let them find each other, they make a wonderful pair. Kaidan comes across as being able to deal with the loss of Shepard. And Liara is basically already preprogrammed to accept the loss of her shorter lived partner, plus there is even the option for offspring. I agree they would be devastated since these two characters seem to be a serious relationship and love Shepard unconditionally. I also feel that Me1 seems to force a romance on you, I clearly did not want Kaiden but he flirted with me anyways and continued to until I finally left him behind, don’t judge me too harsh for that. So I romanced Garrus in 2 and 3 ( was my first play through of these games ever) and realized how sweet and endearing he really is to Shep and it made me a bit angry that in the end they are left to suffer after we try so hard to get that five minutes of something going right.

I still disagree with people who say ME1 forces the romances on you. They are really easy to avoid. For Kaidan and Ashley, treating them like you are really their commanding officer and not inviting their input on things usually does the trick. For Liara, just don't inquire about the Asari, so you don't het long speech about mating habits, and then when she mentions her interest in you, just tell you you're not interested in her.

Ashley doesn't have that option sadly, so you have to be mean to her at certain points.

I solve that by getting the breath scene and just pretending Shepard gets rescued in time to survive (or using an ending mod, in the original games). Then they can live happily ever after Kaidan and Liara have moments where you can still be nice, but when they bring it up you tell them you don't think of them like that and they drop it. Ashley doesn't have that option sadly, so you have to be mean to her at certain points. With Kaidan, though, you have to listen to him whine about "mixed signals" before he drops it, even if you barely speak to him before that. It's been too long since I've spoken to Ashley as a male Shepard. I'll have to pay more attention on my next playthrough. I just think all three of them too ready to flirt with Shepard in ME1, whereas in ME2 and ME3, it's easier to keep things professional without being a jerk (with the obvious exception of femshep with Jacob ).

As for Kaiden, since it was my first play through I didn’t realize it was heading towards the romance with his dialog and when I finally did, I didn’t know you could be renegade and shut him down. I was trying hard to stay fairly paragon since my husband kept preaching about long term cause and effect and pond ripples lol.

You don't have to be quite so strict with paragon and renegade in ME1, especially if you put points into charm or intimidate. ME2 is really where you have to be careful, although I swear the requirements are a little less strict with ME2LE than they used to be. Did you just finish this first playthrough recently?

I am in the final stages of 3. I have a handful of things to do before the endgame lockout, there was no way to avoid spoilers for me. Husband played these games when they first came out and so he has been arguing with me about the ending I will choose and why it’s not the right one and blah blah he is a pro green end and I am red ( hate to do the color thing but am trying to avoid spoilers here). Also very happy I found this forum because trying to convince my husband there are other choices than his is like teaching a pig to sing…and I am happy I can talk to others who love this game as much as I do.

That's being her commanding officer. As a soldier, she tends to try to interject with her opinions on things far too frequently. She's being rather insubordinate and deserves the "out of line" lecture she can get from her commanding officer.

Garrus is great...as a bud or as a romance. I particularly like a femshep romancing Garrus in the Citadel DLC giving the evil eye to the female turian showing interest. Good stuff.

So, I did that and I think I also chose another option at some point where I told her that I didn't think of her romantically. Otherwise, I mostly chose paragon because I just wanted to be nice. Sure enough, I get the scene with both her and Liara wanting "clarification". Ah well, it was BW's first attempt to do with a dialogue wheel. I cut them some slack.
ME2 Jack though, that's super weird. I am mostly paragon to her (just becuse I don't want to be super mean to someone who is clearly traumatized anyway). Then, when she asks me if I want something from her I go "that's not what I want" and still, she assumes I want to romance her ever after. At that point, they should have known better.

Well I don't. I can honestly say I never ONCE looked at my Budgies and found them sexually attractive. Pretty yes, but otherwise no.

You have to tell her she "out of line." That's not "being mean" to her in my book. That's being her commanding officer. As a soldier, she tends to try to interject with her opinions on things far too frequently. She's being rather insubordinate and deserves the "out of line" lecture she can get from her commanding officer. Strange, because the "Out of Line" dialogue has prevented that catfight every time for me... and if at the same time, I avoid asking Liara about the Asari and then tell her I'm not interested in her in that way, I get no catfight and no one showing up at the lockers at all. That is, both romances are shut down. With Ash though, if I am using the "Out of Line" line, usually I've been pretty much the stern, no funny business type of commander all through. For example, on the Citadel, I tell her it would be unprofessional to see her in a tin-foil mini skirt, etc. Again, I don't consider it mean becuase it's my job as a commander to command her. When I bark, she has to jump... her life might depend on it.

Married to a woman, bi my whole life. Only "practiced" (lol) in my late 20s-mid 30s. As someone who believes in a spectrum and thinks we are all on it somewhere, I'd say I'm 35% gay. Mostly just sexual for me, was never interested in pursuing a relationship with a man. As for being involved in gay culture then - I was immersed in it due to my job and the nightlife of Minneapolis. Minneapolis has been very gay friendly since at least 1990, and I worked at the fancy new San Francisco-style restaurant that was all the rave at the time, and was connected to the State Theater so we had a constant flow of Broadway performers, dancers and their crews coming through. I wasn't at all comfortable with my own sexuality at that point and desperately wanted to just be interested in women, because I thought something was wrong with me. Nobody took me for anything but Straighty McStraighterson, and I enjoyed being flirted with by anyone because it was attention. There is plenty wrong with me, but being bi isn't one of them. Even if I am a supposedly mythical creature Who gives better blow jobs? Men or women?

With the release of the Legendary edition and even before then I noticed a lot of female gamers have the hots for Garrus, and seeing this gives me hope, even if you are an ugly hideous looking space alien, as long as you are cool and are good with shooting a rifle, you can still pull down some tail.

The best I've had was a woman, who was incredibly enthusiastic and owned her gag response. She put on a show, but the runners-up are dudes. My wife? We're working on it. Going on 14 years, we'll get there one day
