There are some collectibles that are only available in the manor after you finish the story.

I have The Temple Of The Witch DLC....Originally when I had this game for Xbox 360, I'd paid for it, but now with my PC version it was FREE with the 20 Year Celebration Edition that I purchased.....Though still, I am not sure if I want to play it. I think I'll just play the main story (which I really really enjoy) and then move right on to Shadows, because I am super excited for that one since I know nothing about it; I"ve only seen the Trailers which looked amazing. Really excited to finally be able to complete the whole story of the Trilogy.

For the life of me, I can't finish THe Point of No Return.....Where you're battling the chopper and wave after wave of baddies from multiple levels and many different angles at once. I just don't have enough ammunition. I have 7 shots in my Revolver, 11 in my AK, 13 in my Rifle and 6 in my shotgun. I go through all that in one minute then have to fight with my climbing axes, and they swarm me from every angle! I've tried this one last part all feckin' day! I can't do it! I know how the game ends, I've played it before and beaten before on my 360 many years ago....so I know it can be done. I just don't have enough ammo at this point to get through it all. I'm getting a BIOSHOCK feeling...... (backed myself into a corner with no health, no ammo and multiple Big Daddies coming after me). Same thing here: No Healing, hardly any ammo for any of my weapons....... I just can't do it. I think I'm going to skip this ending and move right on to either CROFT MANOR or Shadows, because I'm done. EDIT: Well, it took two more tries but I finally did it.......I wound up hiding around a corner and waiting outside on a staircase for them to come to me....and boy oh boy did I rack up the body count. That was a much easier way to do it, because I was getting my ass handed to me every which way but loose.....all frickin' day. But I finally beat the main story, now I'm on CROFT MANOR, which I have never played even on the 360 version. After I do this, I am going to play Shadows of the Tomb Raider which I am very much looking forward to. I want to see how Lara's origin story ends.

SO having completed Rise of the Tomb Raider last night (after finishing Croft Manor and finding the underground mausoleum with Lara's mother buried there), this morning I decided to take my first look at SHADOWS of the Tomb Raider.....and WOW! What a beautiful game-- even more so than RISE.....The lighting, the shadows, the colours, the character models and textures are quite significantly better and so much richer. I almost cried how gorgeous the opening environment was! And Lara's character model looks soooo real in 4K (I have DLSS and I can enable Ray Tracing, but it takes a huge hit so I've left it off) but even without RTX on...This game is absolutely gorgeous! I really want to get into this a bit later. I am going to start all over again (though I have to admit, the Opening scene threw me for a loop. Having just finished RISE last night, I was hoping for a little more of an Introduction and a connection back to the events of RISE to take my hand and walk me through the opening of Shadows.....But NOPE! The very Opening scene is an adrenaline-pumping action-based Cutscene, and then it skips back in time 2 days to where you take control of Lara in Mexico.....And I was left thinking/wondering what's she doing in Mexico? She just found the burial site of her long deceased mother.... But then I played on....and I couldn't pick my jaw up off the floor..... I'm still stunned at how beaitiful it is. I am very excited to play this game now and I want to take it all in, enjoy every moment.

Can anyone tell me what the time line is like for Shadows of the Tomb Raider? (specifically how much time has past between Rise of the Tomb Raider and this final installment) Does this final installment connect to the previous two (story wise)? Is there evidence of interwoven, connective story threads between Rise and Shadows (or the Trilogy for that matter) as there was between the original and Rise of the Tomb Raider?
I am very interested to see how the whole trilogy is connected and how the story as a whole, spread over the three games comes to fruition. I say that because initially, I was a bit jarred with the sudden-ness of everything happening....and for a few moments I was left feeling like this third game felt detached and separate from the previous two.
Is that a valid feeling?

Not sure exactly but I think it is mentioned somewhere in the story but I think it's just a fwe months after Rise but I'm not 100% certain on that but then it's been a while since I've played it so I could be wrong.

I've played just a tiny bit more of Shadows, and discovered the eargasmic joy (even in spite of my hearing loss) of playing it in the built-in DTS-X v. 2.0 7.1 Surround Sound that is built into my G935s. I usually play with my aging BOSE PC Companion 2.0 desktop speakers which still sound great for stereo desktop speakers....But in comparison to a DTS enabled 7.1 headset, well, there is no comparison. I'm totally loving the multi-channel, multi-directional depth and richness of this headset.
I haven't used my 935s since I stopped playing ANTHEM....But man does Shadows sound incredible!

PLaying through Shadows of the Tomb Raider, andI just started the Peruvian Jungle......I am gob-smacked at how gorgeous this game looks and plays. Thus far and I'm only maybe 75 minutes into the game itself....about 6 percent complete....this game has surpassed my expectations and is certainly equal in every way to the previous two installments. As for the new mechanics...I really love the idea of blending into vines and doing stealth kills. Gives me a Predator or RAMBO kinda vibe.
I am enjoying this game immensely!

One thing I just noticed quite by accident because it was very unexpected (and almost off-putting) was that when Lara is at a camp fire and you change her clothing, you can go back all the way to the exact same tank top and boots that she wore on Yamatai, but that also changes her in-game character model to that appearance. There are also other outfits that give her a more exotic, multi-racial appearance. Something that is noticeably different than the instantly recognizable, but certainly more matured appearance that she started Shadows with (for example in Mexico). And any change in character model carries over throughout the game even in cutscenes.
I've also noticed that there are some in-game, in-engine cutscenes (for example just before approaching the first water wheel/bridge puzzle) where the cutscene is played out not as a beautifully pre-rendered scene, but as an in-game, in-engine scene using the in-game models......Which is different, but after seeing the beautifully rendered characters from most other scenes, this odd-bag mixture is a bit of a let-down.
So if I want to maintain franchise, game and character consistency throughout....I have to be very careful which outfit I select.

Today I finished the Challenge of the Eagle and I entered Paititi....what a beautiful hub, what a gorgeous game! Everything I do from rock climbing to grappling, to rappelling....entering into deep caverns and watching as rays of light stream through holes above me and hit a pool of water.....The rays of light hitting dust particles in the air, causing reflections on the water and then scattering across the surface.....

So I've been getting used to rock climbing at extreme angles...and it almost makes me crane my neck and put my eyes in weird positions. Not that I dislike it--on the contrary, I actually think the mechanic and the camera angle give a very true-to-life feeling. Plus it adds to the challenge of the game even set on the easiest setting. But today, I almost cried......the rebel leader, Unaratu, was killed by Trinity in my playthrough today. I welled up, because that was totally unexpected and I liked the character. It will be very interesting to see how Lara recovers from that. I've really grown accustomed to using mud and hiding in vines to perform stealth kills....I give Rambo and even Dutch a run for their money.

It's still hard, because even when I am melee'ing enemies, Lara always gets turned around quite easily and swings so wildly that she throws herself off-balance. Then can't turn around fast enough and gets shot in the back or in the back of the head. One shot kill. And done. No fair!

I finally did it, beat the Porvenir Oil Fields....and lemme tell you that was some of the most challenging, andrenaline-pumping gameplay yet...But I did it, and my secret was to use stealth as much as possible and use the dead bodies as explosive traps (in case anyone is wondering). That actually helped a lot. And there was a certain order in which Lara had to take out the soldiers in order to not arouse suspicion to her presence. Oh, and if you can....always focus on taking out the soldiers with the body armour and thermal goggles before the unarmoured ones in plain clothes. Or as I mentioned, use the plain clothed ones as traps to take out the ones with armour and goggles.
The cutscene that is at the end of that whole sequence......Lara fips a switch and goes all murdery. Gets real dark, real quick. She rises up out of a lake that is covered in oil-based flame, her silouhette is black against the orange of the flames, yet you can see glimpses of her expression as the light flickers, and on the beach....one poor bastard catches the clint of a knife blade being unsheathed only moments before this dark figure plunges the blade into his chest.
Lara endulges her darker side.
But so far....as much as I so thoroughly and extremely enjoy all the games, and Rise does have its merits that make me think "oh yeah, this is why I love this game so much...and it pulls at me to like it the most".......I dare to say that from everything I have played so far in Shadow of the Tomb Raider....IT is my favourite of the three so far. There are just so many new mechanics that add fun, complexity and realism to the latest game that it really ears top spot in my mind though it is very hard to choose.
EDIT: I just found out that STEAM has an FPS Counter, so I thought I would check it out. Within the Graphics/Display Settings in Shadows of the Tomb Raider.......Everything is on ULTRA (or as high as it will possibly go) RTX is OFF, instead I have Anistropic Filtering set to 16x and the Shadow Quality on Ultra. My V-Sync is ON (to reduce, minimize or completely negate Screen-tearing of which I have never ever seen any, not a single frame), oh, and I also have DLSS turned ON.....And technically that should cap my FPS at 60 to match the refreshate of my monitor's 60hz. Perfect, just what I wanted.
But I am noticing that the Steam FPS Counter says I am getting a completely stable 120 FPS. 120! That's double my monitor's refresh. And yet I am not getting horrible screen tearing..... Is the DLSS responsible for that, I wonder? From my understandng DLSS doubles the frames and upscales your resolution to provide a performance and visuals boost. But still how can that not result in artifacting or tearing.....? And 120 FPS.... with a non Gsync monitor?! Something's not quite right.

Yeah it 's wha tI call the point where Lara goes into survival mode and by tha tI mean she knows she's going to have to kill to get through as fo ryou gettin g120 FPS i tdoesn't really matter s olong as you're enjoyin gthe game really. If you're no tnoticing any problems I'd sa yjus tcdontinue. I genreally use a program called GeForce Experienceon my computer which helps me find the bes tsettings for each of my games. In general it works quite well. But I'd asy i treall ydepensd on wha tkind of setting you like for your games bu tthen because my computer can supportit I generally have things like RTX turned on. Thoug hI haven' treall ytried playin gth eTomb Raiders on it yet. I do have them I've jus tbeen to busy with other games of late to try the Tomb Raiders I wantto thoug hbecaus eI eventually wantto pla yShadow's DLC's because whilst I have played the main game I've yet to try the DLC's as I chose t osave them for a second playthrough later but I just haven't got round to doing that second one. I will eventually it's just a matter of when. Maybe after I play HZD again.

I just finished Shadow of the Tomb Raider and all I can say is "WOW!" That is the best game I have played in a long while.....It ranks right up there with Fallen Order for me and the whole TR Trilogy (for me) is like the ME OT. Every game is amazing, the graphics, the gameplay, the mechanics, the puzzles, the combat the exploration (even though in TR it is quite linear)....There wasn't anything I didn't like about any of the TR games, and for me, the third one was the best yet. 15 out of 10 (ME OT gets a 25 out of 10, LOL). Just a thoroughly-- extremely enjoyable game and PC Gaming experience. Everything I expected and more. loved the first two on Xbox 360 and enjoyed them even more on PC....and the third installment was no let-down. A great way to cap off a great trilogy of games. Nothing bad to say about any of the games, and if I had to choose I would say Shadow of the Tomb Raider is my new favourite TR game. Will definitely play it again solo....and certainly do anothe Trilogy Run in the near future. I would however like to now do all the DLCs that I didn't do while playing the story. Is there a way that I can now go back into the game and play the DLCs in order? EDIT: I found the DLCs in order listed under Challenge Tombs. Also.....I found this: This may be old news to most, but it's new news to me, so I thought I'd post it since I thought it was pretty cool.

Just completed my second playthrough of Shadow of the Tomb Raider, only this time I branched out and did all the DLC Tombs along the way, which actually really adds to the over all story I think. As much as I so extremely enjoyed my first playthrough that I finished a few weeks back on August 12th, taking the opportunity to do the DLC Tombs along the way...I enjoyed the game even more the second time through.
Such a great game, Shadows.......Great games, all three of them! So happy to have made the purchase on STEAM. Totally worth the money I spent even if it was only to complete the story....But it wasn't only that, of course. I loved the gameplay along the way-- even those times I wanted to put my fist through my monitor, I never outright quit playing the game. Always kept comig back for moore, wouldn't let it beat it or get the better of me. I kept playing until I got it (the Drum Puzzle was the absolute WORST!) I must've tried it 50x before I finally got the last block into place without getting impaled....But I got it and I was happy....i think I cheered and pumped my fist!
