The series will revolve around the character Will Continue before the events of ME1.

I'm one of the weird fans: The one small, itty, bitty thing I want out of this series is to see one if not some of the human ladies hooking up with male aliens, not just the protagonist, because in the trilogy I never did. There was a lot of human guys and gals with asari and one guy dating a quarian, but never a human female dating any one of the trillions of predominately male aliens in the trilogy, and i'm pretty sure there are xenophiles aplenty. Fem shep and garrus, fem shep and thane. Garrus is arguably the greatest romance of any game ever how could he be forgotten. I was talking about romances outside of those of the protagonist, to show that it happens in the rest of the MEU, especially if the main character of the TV series is a guy or Sheploo (I really think it's going to be him). My whole point was to see the average female MEU citizen with the average alien guy in the background of the TV series unlike the trilogy, minus citadel dlc. Because, for me at least, if I can't see Jane/Garrus or Jane/Thane, let me see a symbolic gesture or homage in the background. Anything but female humans can only date asari.

Interesting post brought up on reddit, but this series may need to stay away from Shepard, given Shepard's similarity to Holden in the Expanse, another Amazon series influenced by ME with similar plot.

Renegade Shepard's more like Amos Heh, they wouldn't go that route though. Plus, Amos wouldn't go for Liara, he'd go for Jack.

I feel like any form of adaptation of ME is kind of a double-edged sword. Approaching it with the playable character is problematic for very specific reasons, but then a spin-off story would beg the question as to why it’s a series and not something we can play, especially if that story is actually good. One thing I’ve always wanted in Mass Effect is a more cohesive, sensible plot, and it would kind of irk me that it took a show to do it lol

They could go with the endings and pick a cannon and get away with it much easier then the games could since we are watching not playing and thus it wouldn't be "our" character.

I wouldn't mind cameos from characters who are NOT shepard BUT, the writers would need to be VERY carefull to remain consistent. Like garrus and Tali don't know each other before mass effect so if any of them appear in the series, they are not supposed to have any complicity or attraction towards one another. What would even be the point of Tali? She'd just be some random quarian who probably hadn't even gone off to the Citadel. I guess Garrus at C-SEC would work, but why? Liara playing archaeologist? Ashley getting passed over for promotion? Kaidan's 'biotic kick' at Jump Zero? I honestly can't think of any real reason to use those characters. Here's who I could imagine: Anderson and TIM. They both have a significant history predating Shepard.

If they must involve Shepard, I do find that preferable to a traditional tv series since then they won't be canonizing certain choices.

But indeed it would not make sense to show tali or any companion in a prequel of mass effect, unless there is something VERY specific and at that point it's better to just avoid them completely. Anderson and TIM would indeed be better choices.

Yea, honestly, I don't see much similarity between Shepard and Holden. They are very different in their backgrounds, motivations and demeanor. Biggest similarity is probably that they both receive a vision from the ancient alien species of their respective universes at some point but stuff like that happens in SciFi all the time anyway. That said, for other reasons I do agree that the series should stay away from the games (see page 1 of this thread).

If they must involve Shepard, I do find that preferable to a traditional tv series since then they won't be canonizing certain choices. I believe that was in relation to the supposed Netflix show, a few posters confirmed that Netflix already has a few interactive shows on its platform. So at least that tracks. Anyway, as for Mass Effect related content, I'm all for it. I don't expect much, but I'm sure it will be entertaining one way or the other. Haha. End of the day, I've still got the trilogy no matter what the series does or doesn't do with Shepard or other more established characters. I already have to compartmentalize the Witcher books/games/show to some degree so maybe I'm just used to it.
