I found 2021 a fairly weak year in gaming. For me, Hitman 3 (good but short), Far Cry 6, (fun but disposable) and MELE (good but it's not a new game). Yet 2022 already has some behemoths... Horizon Forbidden West, God of War and Starfield. How is 2022 shaping up for you?

Yea, 2021 was a bit of a slow year in terms of new games. I think the slow start for the new consoles heald a lot of stuff back. That said, I had enough cool things to play, so for me it was fine. Not sure what my big hopes for 2022 are so far, other then Starfield towards the end of the year. Would love to play Forbidden West but will have to wait 2 years or so for the PC version. We'll have to wait and see. Quite a few of my favorites this year weren't on the radar last year yet either.
Also, is it hubris to hold out hope for some real progress on Squadron 42 next year?

Yeah it's beern a weak year really there's been 1 or 2 good games like Kena and Guardians of the Galaxy but I wouldn't call them great games. Or at least they don't stand out like HZD, ME or DA do. I'd like to p;lay Forbidden West but based on what I've heard that's not likely to happen till at least 2023 as I'll be playing on PC. Only game tha tmight save this yea rat leas tfor me is Halo given Infinite's campaign hasn't dropped yet and I won't likely be playin gthat until Christma sat the earliest as I'm getting it for Christmas. There ar ea couple of games I have m yeye on for 2022. One being the Forspoken game .Another one being the newest Uncharted game seeing as I'v not played it but I'm certainly tempted by it given it's aboutto make it's debut on PC. So there aer one or 2 glimmers in the dark but it looks like we have to wait for them.
But really Forspoken I think is my big hope for 2022

I am cautiously optimistic. My most anticipated so far is Hogwarts Legacy but who knows, it could be delayed again. Same with Starfield TBH.

I don’t know. This year has had some great games come out. Rift Apart was really fun, and of course it ends with Halo Infinite.
Can’t really think of many games coming in 2022 that interest me.

My most anticipated so far is Hogwarts Legacy I can't help thinking this has the greatest possibility for being in a range from wonderful to dreadful. And marketing the launch will be problematic given the firestorm over the franchise author (though that won't stop me if its good).

I'm still in the 2000's. Games I play the most are Baldur's Gate and Mass Effect.
I was looking forward to Total War: Warhammer III but I got really burnt out on II in 2020.

It definitely is in many ways giving me Dragon Age vibes as if one of us got somehow pulled into Thedas and had to find a wa yt osurvive kind of thing. I really like the look of it. Also as you say the protag looks kind of cool and interesting. Not reall ysuer how it's going to work but I like what I'm seeing from this game.

Yeah. Starfield is something I'm looking forward to. I still havent gotten more than started Rift Apart and Far Cry 6 is there waiting too. I did not play many games "at home" this year, mostly played and tested the games "at work" (working from home). MEA PT#5 was done and it was great to be in that world, LE 1 was a good experience mostly too but I do not enjoy using gamepad (played on PS5). I think my game of the year must be AC:Valhalla as I immensely enjoyed visiting that time period even though the game had lost most of stealth and no-kills.. also watched Vikings and watching Last Kingdom Second, HZD - a good game, good story, playing the DLC and waiting for Forbidden West. Third, its either Rage 2 or Far Cry New Dawn - both ok snacks prolly FC:ND MP of the year? Of course its still MEAMP I enjoy the most

2021 has Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, and so far I'm not seeing anything to look forward to as much in 2022. But hey, maybe it will surprise me.
But if it doesn't, that's fine too. I have lots of good games to replay, or keep playing.

Came out in November. I know HZD came out in August 2020 as I remembe rputting playing it on hold because of my bathroom a sI didn't know whether I was giong t oplay it properly then. Of course now I cvan play HZD as much as I like. Planning on giving it another go after I'm done with ME3 and DAI. Looking forward to it as I love exploring tha tworld as Aloy. Great character and a beautiful world to inhabit Guerrilla did a grea tjob. It's definitely one of my favourie tgames right up there with anything I've seen Bioware do.

Destiny 2 is kind of my "home" game at this point, so I generally have something to play when I'm bored. What helps is that I have Gamepass Ultimate, and that's been an absolute boon this year since I get to try out so many different titles if I need something else to try.
As for 2022, hopefully it turns out well. I think - if anything - it'll probably be the year of big announcements to come for 2023/2024. That said, I am looking forward to playing GOW2 and Starfield. Since the latter is a 1st party title, that should also mean it'll be available on Gamepass day 1, which is really nice.
Definitely agree with y'all that this year's been kinda meh though.

2022 is definitely going to be better when it comes to gaming for me. Elden Ring, Starfield, Hogwarts Legacy, Crimson Dessert, Cyberpunk 2077 DLC, and maybe Avowed as well. We should start to see marketing for the next Dragon Age game starting to pick up. I’m also hopeful we’re going to be hearing about a lot of games that are allegedly in the works like Dragon Dogma 2 and Fable 4.

But then as I asid in terms of games I lik eit's been a bi tweak s oGuardians hasn't had to try hard t oget there for me. I do suspect Infinite will beat it though because Halo is a franchise I do respect and like. Also I like the sound o fsome of the nwe features in campaign. Only time wil tell though .

I'm contemplating if I want to get a PS5 for that game (when they become more available). I know it's typically bad investment to buy consoles solely for exclusives, but I know there's gonna be games on there that I want to play that won't be available on the PS4 at some point. Plus, if I get to play Forbidden West with better framerates and graphical fidelity, why not? I also had fun with Guardians as well, and that little chant everyone can get into with Drax (if you choose it) was a really nice moment in the game.
