Did anyone here watch season one of this? When it came out, there seemed to be a lot of critical buzz (most of what I saw was positive). I tried it because we were looking for a new show (and Foundation was coming, and if I was to have any hope of getting my wife to watch it, she'd need a primer of sci-fi ) It started off "classic prestige TV" with super high production value and thought provoking ideas of humanity and faith vs ....not faith (was going to use another word, but have no interest in having that fight here). Moved on to interesting with moments that were emotional or exciting and ended with a giant 'What The Actual Fuck was that...?' Season 2 Trailer in the spoiler

Yes. Watched and loved it. Waiting for the S02. How did you describe it to people? I mostly stuck with what I used in my post, but it somehow feels like I'm overselling it and not doing it justice at the same time. Really liked it, though.

I dont usually describe anything else but just "scifi I liked and it intriqued me to think more"

This one didn't get me as much. Got too abstract for my tastes by the end. When anything can be solved by any thing happening I lose interest in the answers to the questions the conflicts are posing.
It wasn't terrible and I watched it through, but it was a low priority. (On when nothing else was.)

Some really good world-building (both on the ruined Earth and the new world). Almost reminded me of the first couple of seasons of Lost, where we kept finding out new mysteries to be unraveled. Hopefully it doesn't evolve into never ending mysteries that go nowhere, though.

By the time I was going to give it a shot someone in the friend-group mentioned they completely botched the ending so I never did wind up seeing it. Guess I probably won't ever really. Thought about it when Mira Furlan passed away, heard she was on it then.

It was an odd experience, watching that show during its original run. They partly ruined it for themselves - setting up mysteries that they either had no idea of how to resolve, or no intention to (and sometimes both). And it was partly ruined for them by the network and the ecosphere that sprung up around it, particularly the endless recap shows that all promised "we're not another recap show". But when George RR Martin 'calls' it on his blog 4 or 5 years before the show ends...you know something went wrong somewhere.
