Northeast of the Dun Tynne Crossroads, marked with a (!). Is that the ancient vampire stronghold where we fight Detlaff? To lift the curse, Geralt needs to know about Sir Gareth's fate, and collect his bones. Either by finding the bones himself (in a cave near witches house), or by giving a lock of Geralt's hair to the witch. I think the woodcutter dies if you fight/threaten the witch. Oh something was telling me to check out the cave but I didn't. As for threatening the witch? Guilty as charged.

Is that the ancient vampire stronghold where we fight Detlaff? If you are thinking of Dun Tynne Castle, which is where Syanna was hiding out, its Northeast of that. Just out in the middle of nowhere.

Okay I'll keep an eye out for the exclamation mark. Now I just have to find Dun Tynne Castle on the world map.

The ancient Vampire stronghold is Teshna Mutina IIRC. Haven't played in a couple days due to a hectic work schedule but now that everything is going back to normal work wise I should have time to play, and then give my review on all three games.

Last night got to play The Witcher 3 after a long hiatus, but I only completed two of the 3 remaining side quests that I am aware of. Geralt became fist fighting champion of Toussaint. He also investigated a small isle that in the middle sat a hermit surrounded by water. Geralt actually walked on water before speaking to the hermit. The hermit introduced himself and told Geralt he had been expecting him. He told Geralt of his noble deeds and showed him a sword that was in the water. He told Geralt that to claim the sword, Geralt had to fight for it. Geralt agreed and the fight against the hermit began. It was a tough fight but Geralt was victorious. The hermit congratulated him and then disappeared in the depths of the lake. Then out came The Lady of the Lake with the Aerondight sword. Geralt told her how they had met before (I remembered this from the Witcher 1 it was one of the most epic scenes in that game.) She gave him the sword and told him not to lose it this time. (I laughed because the last time I saw the sword I sold it in TW2.) Anyway tonight I am going to find the location Blast Processor told me about to do the side quest melbella spoke of.

The Lady of the Lake at least had reason to scold you. Enjoy the Roach quest.

I have a question eventually sometime in the near future I want to star a new game +. Does the sword carry over? Because aside from exploring the question marks I got the sword pretty late. It would be a shame if Geralt hardly used it. As for the Roach quest looking forward to it.

eventually sometime in the near future I want to star a new game +. Does the sword carry over? Anything in your inventory will carry over, as do items in stash. Any new loot is basically higher quality versions of the same things you got the first time around. I would compare stats between swords of the same name and sell the lower quality one, though I kept all versions of the Witcher gear sets and the specialty gear. (yes, I'm a pack rat)
Edit:
Make sure you take everything down from Corvo Bianco that you want to keep and stick it in your inventory or stash: armor/sword sets, paintings, decorations, etc. The only thing that didn't carry over was the gwent trophy, I think, since it's quest-related, and maybe the statue of the stone ball guy? I don't remember that one for sure though.

Did an exclamation mark quest involving a painter wanting make a painting of Geralt. Geralt agreed and the painter said to comeback at noon. Geralt arrived and they both went to the spot the painter had setup. As usual this wasn't as simple as just make the painting. Apparently the painting supplies had gone missing. So Geralt went to find them. He followed the trail into a nekker cave. After killing them he found the painter's supplies and brought them back. The painter asked Geralt which pose he wanted. Geralt chose on horseback. The painting took hours and near the end a griffon attacked. I had forgotten these things cause bleeding damage. After killing it Geralt suggested to add the griffon to the painting. The painter told Geralt to return in one day to the place where they first met. Geralt returned and the painter had the painting done. The painting looked great, but there was one thing that Geralt noticed. He was nude on horseback. The painting looked great either way and he bought the painting for 1000 Crowns. He brought the painting back to Bianco Corvo and hung it in his bedroom so that Yennefer had something to look at when he was away.
Other than that quest just explored the rest of the question marks on the map.

Because it's such a sweet looking sword, and I am running out of monsters, bandits, and fallen knights to kill. I've been holding off the Roach quest because as far as I'm aware it's the last one have to complete. So it's great to hear that the sword will still be of use in a new game +.

Here are my mini reviews of all three games.
Witcher 1: This was a good game but a rough game gameplay wise. I liked having to read books in order to kill monsters effectively. I liked due to his memory loss we can shape Geralt's personality. My Geralt sided with the elves and never blindly killed monsters. The graphics were okay and still hold up. The music was great. What I did not like was using the keyboard for combat that relies on quick reflexes. So pressing A&D hardly worked for me luckily there are cheats but I only used them when I had no other choice. Like running from the kikimore queen. The game also has some funny moments and I liked Geralt's dry humor. I give the game 8/10.
Witcher 2: This was a vast improvement gameplay and graphics wise. I really enjoyed the start with King Foltest, and I also liked that my choices carried over for the most part. Since I could use a PC controller the combat was better, and although it was tough in the beginning the game got easier as I leveled up. The world is fleshed out more and we learn more about Geralt before he lost his memory and Triss. The maps felt bigger than the first game. Only thing I remember not liking was I was the only Witcher. I wanted to see more of the others. I give the game 8/10.
Witcher 3: This is the big one and my favorite. Before playing this game my all time favorite open world rpg was Morrowind, But Witcher 3 has now taken that spot with it's excellent writing and storylines. Many memorable npc's like the Bloody Baron, Olgierd and Iris von Everec, Regis, Yennefer, Ciri, Triss, Eredin, the witches in the bog, and many more. The gameplay was good again I could use a PC controller so it made combat a bit easier. The combat stayed challenging throughout the game. I have played over a hundred hours and still haven't completed everything. Also Geralt shows the most emotion in this game. The main quests, and even the side quests and misc quests are well done. Not like in Skyrim where the side quests are radiant. The game reintroduces Shani my preferred love interest for Geralt. Triss and Yennefer are beautiful but they are manipulative. Since I could not choose Shani, Geralt stayed with Yennefer. There are multiple endings for the vanilla main quest but I've only seen one and it was with Ciri becoming a Witcher. I give the game 9/10.
In closing all three games were fun and I do not regret spending time on them.

So last night I played some Witcher 3 and went back a long way to where Geralt and Syanna are trying to escape the fantasy world. Since I knew what to do I quickly breezed through the fantasy world, and brought back Syanna for Detlaff. Since she was wearing the ribbon she disappeared to the fantasy world when Detlaff tried to kill her. Geralt and Regis fought and killed Detlaff (I still struggle against vampires.) Now came the part I wanted to fix and that was talking to Syanna at her tower, and trying to convince her to forgive her sister. Geralt speaks to Syanna reminding her that she and her sister were both little girls at the time and powerless. He then goes to his ceremony.
He lets the guard know that the Duchess was going to be the fifth victim. This made the guard captain double security. Geralt spoke to the Duchess without letting her know what her sister had planned. (She was already on the brink of tears so did not want to crush her anymore with guilt.) This is where the outcome came out differently than the first time. This time the Duchess and Syanna hug and forgave each other. My first time around Syanna killed her with her own hairpin. Thus both sisters died. So Geralt gets drunk with Regis at the cemetery and the Blood and Wine expansion is complete, and I am happy with the outcome. Best open world game I played since Morrowind and New Vegas.
