Not Witcher, but I thought this UE5 tech demo was interesting. Ugh. This is a very tempting rabbit hole. I could spend many hours dicking around with this, and get meself some grandiose ideas and schemes. Announce vaporware kickstarter with a recycled story from a KotOR mod I never finished, and become the next CRobbers! This is really nice. |

Not Witcher, but I thought this UE5 tech demo was interesting. Heh, I literally watched this a couple of days ago and considered posting it here. I got grandiose ideas about downloading UE5 and making my own little something. It happens fairly frequently. Then I remembered, I have no programming or animation training or experience and thought…maybe not.

You should both download it and play around.
The assets are there already to make a generic PC in a fully rendered city sandbox. Nothing shown in the video required any scripting ability or knowledge of animation, and I think that's what *part* (the others being nanite and lumen) of the fuss is about. This engine is dead simple to use and makes it easier for people like us to play around.
I can code a little, and this is what makes me kinda horny and depressed at the same time. It is a weird feeling, but free lube.
