A devil's advocate got stomped, the popcorn was delicious! Fenris approves +10
Anyways, handwaving slavery away is highly unlikely, just for how simply dumb that is.
Slavery exists all over the world, right now, in a hundred different forms. You can give it a nicer name, or in some cases say that it is fitting punishment, but it is slavery full stop. So, for BioWare to have massive brain damage and *poof* "We did it boys, slavery is over <fistbump>" *poof* would be pretty damned disappointing. It is far too complex a subject in general, and in particular such an important known part of the Tevinter lore, to be ignored if the game happens there.

On the other hand, “if we kill this one mage, then the whole system goes BOOM and all the slaves are freed” is such a stupid idea that I could see a Netflix adaptation going for it.

You are forgetting the line: "A series of bloody uprisings lead to the end of slavery in the mystical nation." At the very least this needs to be the culmination of an nationwide effort. I really don't buy it though. As I explained, this is the only site claiming to know this and it totally does not fit with the trailer. I think it is like the fake leak of the plot of DA4. Remember Salos?!

I'll watch it with the hope it's better than past Bioware forays into "anime".

Resolving a key plot point in some random bit of extended media would be peak Bioware. This message brought to you by the ghost of Emily Wong. You mean the Emily Wong which only appeared in one quest chain in ME 1 and didn't actually appear in ME 2 except through news reports which were entirely optional to click on? I mean I liked the character and all and even was a little annoyed at her death, more in general, and would have preffered her to Allers but she was hardly that big of a plot point on the level we are talking about here. *** My neck of the woods I watched the episode of TFP Hurt which is written by the DAA show runner. Much better episode then her first foray into it Stronger, Faster, and does give me some hope at least from a writing standpoint at least. Whether or not it will be some huge connection to lore and the overall quality of everything else is still up in the air...as is the writing I suppose but at least I am fairly confident now.

That trailer was absolutely amazing!
Absolution for who? the sinner or those who have been wronged?! Would they really name the series like that if the Vints were absolving themselves? And why would they feel the need to do that in the first place. Who would have enough power to hold them under a spotlight.
Maybe it's the main characters trying to seek forgiveness for past mistakes. Or absolution could be referring to absolutes? Could it be that absolute power corrupts absolutely eh?
I'm absolutely clueless...

And why would they feel the need to do that in the first place. If they were losing really badly to the Qun I suppose they might. After all, the last thing you'd want to do if you had just been freed is to be put under the thumb of the Qun, so likely they would mount a pretty strong resistance on the part of the Imperium. Who would have enough power to hold them under a spotlight. The elven god with command over the spirits of the Fade, aka Fen'Harel. However, he has made it clear he isn't interested in forcing reform in the current world but removing the Veil and restoring the one he wants. Maybe it's the main characters trying to seek forgiveness for past mistakes. That's how I would understand it. Either one of the heroes feels responsible for some person or situation that they were involved with creating, or may be the antagonist is trying to obtain absolution for Tevinter for turning their backs on the Old Gods.

I'm sure the animated series is there help market the game and there'll be new people interested in the Dragon Age series because of it, but I doubt it will have as much of an impact as it did with Cyberpunk.

I haven’t seen it yet, but Edgerunners is supposedly quite good. For Absolution to generate any buzz for Dragon Age, it would also have to be of a similar level of quality.
My gut feeling is that Absolution will not be that good. Decent, perhaps. But nothing that will blow your socks off.

Yeah, I’m predicting Absolution will probably end up being kind of mediocre honestly.
Not bad, but just okay. I don’t think it’s going to make the splash something like Edgerunners, Arcane, or the Witcher did.

Like Cyberpunk, I think Dragon Age will be catered to fans of that game. It's not like it'll have wide appeal compared to the Witcher Tv (which is following the books) and maybe Arcane.

Well, to be fair, Dragon Age has not had the best of luck with its expanded universe.
Also, it’s a Netflix adaptation - did you see what they did to Resident Evil? They somehow managed to butcher the IP in both animation and live-action.

Yeah, and they had Cyberpunk Edgerunners an allegedly good show and Resident Evil was doomed to fail from the first trailer with a lot of radical changes.

And seesh already with the pessimism. Dragon Age fans gotta be the most pessimistic fanbase I've experience besides Halo fans. In some ways I can see it. DA expanded universe has kind of been a bit...weird...even in what I have seen it so I can understand the pessimism and keeping my expectations a bit low. That being said on the other hand I don't really see the hate Netflix gets...though I guess this could just be from my small sample size. . But loving what they're doing with the Witcher and the show runner for the anime seems like a competent writer so there we go on that front, I'm looking forward to it.

I think Dragon Age will be catered to fans of that game. Not necessarily. You have to remember the old adage that there is no such thing as bad publicity. If they make a good show that satisfies the fans, that will be great because you have happy fans but are also likely to have encouraged a new set of people to play the upcoming game. However, if they make a show that antagonises the fans, they have lost nothing because their howls of outrage will bring attention to the show, encouraging casual players to watch it and once again helping widen the interest for the upcoming game. Fans of the game will not be put off DAD by a TV series, although they might question what Bioware was up to in approving it if it badly deviates from the lore at any stage. My main hope is that the presence of the TV series in December is an indicator that we may finally start hearing more about the game at the same time or just after. I'm also hoping that it will be a stand-alone story and not something that we need to have watched to appreciate some aspect of the game or characters within it. Beyond that I will approach the series as an enjoyable (I hope) diversion in a setting with which I am familiar but without setting up any expectations about DAD.

And seesh already with the pessimism. Dragon Age fans gotta be the most pessimistic fanbase I've experience besides Halo fans. Well… DA hasn’t had the best record with outside media. I guess the visuals in the trailer didn’t impress me very much either. I’m expecting something more inline with DOTA Dragon’s Blood rather than Edgerunners. It might be good, but not coming close to the sort of impact of those other shows. I’d be thrilled to be wrong! Since Edgerunners released my YouTube channel monthly views have gone from 5k to 70k+ on the back of 4 Cyberpunk videos I did. So I’d love to get the same engagement on my 60+ Dragon Age videos 😂

One thing both Edgerunners and Arcane have in common:
The game dev writers were deeply involved in writing the story. Edgerunners in particular I believe the base story was written by the lead writer of the 2077 game.
That seems to be a good recipe.
