I can't side with Bhelen in any origin because of how he treated his sibling. When I meet Vaughan in the dungeon, I can't overlook how he treated the elves. Do your attitudes toward characters cross over, whichever origin you are playing?

The one time I let Vaughan live, I felt so dirty I had to redo it.

I only side against Bhalen if I'm playing a dwarven noble and even then it's depends on how I feel when I get there. I feel Bhalen is a better ruler for the dwaves in the long term.
Like mousestalker I sided with Vaughan ONE time and I hated it and deleted that Warden and started over.

With Vaughan, yes. I only let him live once and it felt wrong. I`ve never done it again. With Bhelen i feel a bit different, yes he is a backstabbing bastard but at the same time he`s the one with more progressive ideas as a ruler. Most of my wardens sided with Harrowmont but i had a few that sided with Bhelen (except for the noble dwarf, i can`t side with Bhelen when i`m playing an Aeducan). I think the difference for me is that i see Bhelen more as a greyish kind of character while i consider Vaughan rotten to the core.

Since I've only played as a Cousland and Amell I always side with Bhelen. He is more open minded when it comes to new ideas for the Dwarven people. As for Vaughan, I forgot what happens to him all I remember is I never help him.

Vaughan doesn't deserve it to live... that said I have let him live in the past (first time I did I wasn't even aware of what he'd done...then saw Zevran's disapproval, looked it up on the wiki and said wtf to myself...he's died ever since) I've only ever sided with Harrowmont once during my first playthrough because he seemed the more noble of the two candidates, it's been Bhelen ever since...I've yet to do a Dwarf Noble playthrough, so might do something different when I get around to that
One thing I hated was how I had to kill Leske on my Dwarf Commoner...I prefer seeing him in the prison cell with me letting him go. Jowan...is also an interesting one, I tend to let him go though...first playthrough I had him do the blood magic ritual and sacrificed Isolde

He's the prison when you rescue Aurora and fight Howe, where you can free him, kill him, or leave him in own prison to rot. I generally kill him, although it's one of those deals who have to talk to other people in the city and free prisoners in a certain order and/or it's bit buggy. That's for all origins except for the city elf that kills him in the origin story, all you'll find there is an empty cell.

I've seen the same thing in DA2 especially that noble that says "You starting a war!" gets his neck broken and dies appears with twin brothers in the crowd cheering after Hawke kills the leader of the qunari. The the same thing happens in DAI, MET, MEA, Jade Empire, KOTOR, KOTOR II, Assassin's Creed: Origins/Odyssey/Valhalla, Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Skyrim, Fallout 4, Saints Row 3, Saints Row 4, and with just about every other major video game ever made.

I mean...having to design 1000+ npc's for a game would get tiresome and expensive Which is probably why only named npc's have unique designs
it's still hilarious though, I always imagine the hero(ine) going up to said character and being all: "didn't I kill you earlier?" and them going all "oh no, that was my evil cousin/brother what have you" I even recall how that was quest in TES: Oblivion that poked fun at this, where you find out there's an identical twin who don't know the other exists and other npc's being annoyed when they don't recognize them, I mean hello, they don't know you so why would they?

I can't side with Bhelen in any origin because of how he treated his sibling. My first Warden (Cousland) picked Harrowmont but I usually pick Bhelen now. Even my Aeducan sided with her brother. Family ties and all that. Plus, Trian is a pompous ass.
All my city elves kill him in the prologue. For everyone else, they usually just trick him into giving up his key and then leave him to rot in prison. I don't remember if anyone let him out or killed him.
Re: Jowan, I usually keep him around to do his blood magic thing, then send him off to prison/execution afterwards. I don't think I've ever killed him in the cell, or just let him go free either.

I like Harrowmount. Mostly the beard. With the Vaughan clown. Drag his sorry a** to the deep roads to see how tough he thinks he is.

What I want to do tends to cross origins, but for me it's more at the level of maneuvering dialogue to provide justification. Having done CE first, I definitely wanted to kill Vaughan (again) on my second character, but I only let myself do it once I talked to Soris and him enough to have a justification for it. Fortunately, he's blatant enough that it wasn't very difficult.

Only when it comes to Dog. I could never kill or leave him behind.
Other than that I make choices regarding what makes sense from my characters perspective not how I personally feel about things.

Oh I always let Vaughan live. He survives in every single playthrough without exception. Naturally I persuade him to give me the key to the treasure room first, before laughing in his face and leaving him to rot.
Feels far more fitting than just killing him - death's too good for some people.
The only time I really feel guilty is when I intimidate Lloyd (the barkeep in Redridge) into fighting. It's the best outcome over the long term, but I don't enjoy bullying people like that, even if they are good-for-nothing slobs. So in the coming battle I go out of my way to keep the poor bugger alive at all costs, using Forcefield on him when he's in danger, and healing the crap out of him. I'm usually concentrating so hard on keeping Lloyd and Mayor Murphy alive that I'm barely concentrating on the rest of the encounter.
The real question is - who lets Caladrius live? Better still who refuses to bargain with him, refuses the blood magic ritual, and then when he says: 'I don't suppose you'd consider just letting me go?', does precisely that?
