While I've heard Henry will be back as Superman, I wonder if this also frees up his schedule to join the rumored Mass Effect TV series...

I just found out about this. Apparently he also said he wished the writers would have would have written scripts closer to the source material. There's also news that the writers hate both the books and games. I don't understand why Hollywood continues this trend of hiring people for projects that don't care about the source material. Isn't Hollywood still a business? Isn't it every business's goal to make money? Anyway I only watched the first season but that was before I played the Witcher trilogy. So I was of the opinion then that it wasn't a bad show.

It's being entirely carried by Henry and a few other actors. Jaskier is great, Ciri is good, Yennifer is a bad casting but at least the acting is decent. And that's about it.
Arbitrary diversity castings and unneeded changes really hold back the show. Wasted potential galore.

Henry was the main reason that season 2 was watchable to be honest.

Mediocre show ruined by woke casting and a producer obsessed with representation. But that's not even the worst part. The characters and storylines were bland and generic, or had nothing to do with the books. None of Yen's imperious bitchiness or single minded obsession were on display. Ciri is a little goodie two shoes princess without a mean streak. And Triss, lol, Oh boy. Random NPC sorceress #203. And now they want poor man's Hemsworth to replace the only decent casting choice. Sapkowski should have gone with any other distributor.

Sapkowski should have gone with any other distributor. He knew the producers wanted to make a woke version of the Witcher, and because of his greed he agreed to it. This was around the same time he was suing CD Project Red claiming the company owed him more money because the games were successful.

If you hate their stuff, they will call you ists and phobes under the sun. Geralt will most likely get sidelined in favour of Ciri and turn her into a Rey/Captain Marvel-type Mary Sue.

Aside from Top Gun: Maverick and the latest Spiderman film what are movies have been blockbusters in the last two years? Hard to make have a blockbuster via theatres when they were closed thanks to Covid measures or had reduced attendances to respect measures. Many studios just held off their releases or went with streaming instead during that time.

Early in the pandemic big movies were released online and in limited theatres if available at the same time (like Black Widow and Wonder Woman 1984). Some had their release delayed by almost a year (Dune). Once theatres were back open, it was at half capacity with mandatory masks in a lots of countries until the 2nd half of 2021. There was also issues with productions in 2020. The Covid measures included limited cast and crew on site, mandatory masks even during filming, etc. TV/movie production were closed off for almost all of 2020 where I live too. A lots of 2020 productions were moved to 2021 and are only now getting released. Some production were even cut in half, like HBO The Nevers first season.

As for 2020 and 2021 yes I do remember the delays and the procedures to watch a film in theaters. My initial post was about 2022. Sorry for the confusion.

Geralt was the only good thing about this crapshoot of a show. Plot sucks, casting sucks even more (like WTF was this Triss?). I quit after season one... seems Netflix will quit after season four.

I only now learned about this.
Imagine how badly you've failed in your adaptation when your lead actor quits because it sucks so much.
GOOD GRIEF!
But good for him! Cavill really cares about the Witcher. So I'm glad he left. And I hope S3 is a financial disaster as a result. Won't be watching. S2 was painful enough.

your lead actor quits because it sucks so much. I'm sorry where did you get that info? Somebody mentioned it above and my friend who told me the news said as much too. Whether or not people are just inferring that I don't know. But why else would he quit? The show was SJW garbage except for the first episode of S2 as far as I'm concerned. Character assassination all around. As a Witcher fan, as Cavill seems to be, this show must have been an embarrassment. He was SO thrilled at first and lured by the promise of a faithful adaptation. We all were. The result couldn't have been further from the truth in S2.

So the answer is probably scheduling conflict and WB giving a bigger paycheck.

I like the idea better that he quit because the show sucked and not for even more money. *g* But latter is usually a good motivator...

But why else would he quit? Perhaps he has scheduling conflict, as is usual for actors? If I am not mistaken he is going to reprise his role as Superman in a year or two.

And until there is evidence more credible than ‘bunch of internet people taking a comment from one guy and running with it down Conspiracy Theory Boulevard’, that is what I am going to assume the issue was. If Witcher S4 and the new Superman movie have their filming dates far apart, then schedules can probably be ruled out as the problem. But until - again - credible evidence to the contrary is put forward…the simplest answer is more likely to be the correct one.

So just updating, Henry Cavill will not be returning as Superman, which was apparently a surprise to him. It seems plans are changing quickly as Gunn plans out DC’s new direction. But Henry Cavill has just announced that he will be in and an Executive Producer on a Warhammer 40K show at Amazon: www.warhammer-community.com/2022/12/16/warhammer-starring-henry-cavill/
